For many of us when we see or a hear a reference to a toy from our childhood, we are immediately transported by to a specific time when we were younger playing with that toy...queue all the nostalgic feelings. BRIO would love to know all the toys that give you that nostalgic feeling and what it is about them that makes you feel that way.

Here’s what BRIO have to say: “We just turned 130, yet we feel more vital than ever. And that’s a good thing when working with toys. Because just as play develops children, play has developed us as a company. Smart Tech is the latest integrated technology from BRIO which is adding extra layers of functionality and play value to our timeless toys. The Smart Tech trains can stop, turn around, go slower or go faster using the accessories that are in the range, bringing even more magic to the BRIO World. In a world full of technology and computers, traditional play is at the core of what we do at BRIO. Our Smart Tech range combines clever train technology with traditional play patterns, meaning as parents you don’t need to feel nostalgic for those classic toys as they’re at the heart of everything we do.”

Watch this video on the BRIO Smart tech Engine with Action Tunnel Set:

Is it the Troll Dolls that make you feel nostalgic as you remember spending hours styling their bright pink hair? Perhaps seeing your DC talking to imaginary people on your phone makes you remember you doing the same on your Chatter Telephone? Did you think of yourself as a highly-skilled chef with your Easy-Bake Oven? Would you just spend hours drawing out things on your Etch A Sketch? Or is it good old Play-Doh that always make you feel nostalgic whenever your child plays with it?

Whichever toys make you feel nostalgic, share them on the thread below and everyone who comments will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list) and another four MNers will win a BRIO Smart Tech Engine Set with Action Tunnels, worth £89.95 each.

Thanks and good luck.

As a 90's kid my absolute favourites were Polly pocket, tamagotchis and gameboys! Devastating when your mum was too busy working or something equally trivial to look after your tamagotchi all day!! 😂😂

3boysandabump · 15/10/2018 19:05

Sticklebricks! Absolutely loved them. Never had them at home but we played with them at the childminders. Rich tea biscuits and playdays also remind me of her

Allthatglitters90 · 15/10/2018 19:14

Polly pockets! I used to love carrying them about and playing on the go Smile

treegone · 15/10/2018 19:17

Popples and keepers...would love to come across one of those in a charity shop one day! I wouldn't buy it, just like to see it to work out what the hell was so great about them. They were so important to me as a young child!

foxessocks · 15/10/2018 19:26

Polly in my pocket! Which I believe has made a come back recently!

AutumnLeaves1976 · 15/10/2018 19:28

We love brio trains. We had them when we were younger and now some of the new sets are so much more advanced it's great to mix and match and also see many of the pieces we had still on sale.
We also loved trolls and polly pockets.

Beach11 · 15/10/2018 19:53

My favourites were: fuzzy felt, strawberry shortcake doll and Spirograph. As I reached secondary school age it was the dream girl game.
I asked for Mr Freeze religiously for my birthday & Christmas for years but was never allowed one

Lego Space - Endless possibilities! Always top of my wishlist! Wish I kept it for my little ones!!!

UniversalTruth · 15/10/2018 20:21

Stickle bricks for me too. I remember we had them growing up, and they look exactly the same now my 2yo has a set!

buffysummers4 · 15/10/2018 20:24

I remember playing with a Spirograph set for drawing geometric patterns. Also I was extremely attached to a very ugly bright orange plastic swan! No doubt my parents didn't share my enthusiasm but I just loved gliding it around the floor....

Cucumbum · 15/10/2018 20:24

Tiny tears, speak and spell and Mr Frosty.

TheBrilloPad · 15/10/2018 20:25

"Keypers" - those little swan toys with keys and little things inside them. Them, and polly pockets. A friend of mine still has all hers and I'm so envious. I really could still look at them for hours and I'm in my 30's now!

Monopoly, my dolls, polly pocket...

And bloody mr frosty, who was on my Christmas list every single year, which I never did get!

anitagreen · 15/10/2018 20:35

Ah this thread has made me sad! I loved barbies my favourite was the teacher one it came with a black board and a little desk etc ,
Also loved the big red bus wish I could buy that again now for my own children

PlayingForKittens · 15/10/2018 20:37

Lots!

Plenty already mentioned. My mum kept a lot of our toys so all my old Lego, Sylvanians etc are at my mum's house and my children play with them there.

Perhaps more nostalgic, many of my mum's old toys were at my grandmother's before she went into a home, I played with them and then my own children. Properly old farm and dolls house made by one of her uncles. Old stuffed toys filled with straw, dinky tea sets we played with in the bath. Wonderful stuff. I saw a pull along wooden train like hers at a brocante a while ago and almost cried the memories were so strong.

NerrSnerr · 15/10/2018 20:44

I loved My Little Pony, Lego and Polly Pockets.

I also loved playing with dolls and pushing them around in a pram.

bigfishlittlefishtupperwarebox · 15/10/2018 20:53

If I'm asked to think of a toy from my childhood, it's always my little pull along dog that I think of. It was at my Nanna's, so not played with as much as son of my other toys, but I just remember dragging it with me everywhere!

ThyroidQ · 15/10/2018 20:55

Trolls, pogo sticks and those weird heads for practising hairdressing. Oh and my post office! Best. Thing. Ever.

welcometonarnia · 15/10/2018 20:57

Barbies definitely make me feel nostalgic, and my dd is now at the age where she wants to play with them, so I am definitely living vicariously through her this Christmas when I go to buy her some!

TheChatsPyjamas · 15/10/2018 21:07

Brio reminds me of my dad, and in years to come I’ll remind me of my son and his obsession!

My favourite childhood toy was definitely playmobil.

AveEldon · 15/10/2018 21:10
