For many of us when we see or a hear a reference to a toy from our childhood, we are immediately transported by to a specific time when we were younger playing with that toy...queue all the nostalgic feelings. BRIO would love to know all the toys that give you that nostalgic feeling and what it is about them that makes you feel that way.

Here’s what BRIO have to say: “We just turned 130, yet we feel more vital than ever. And that’s a good thing when working with toys. Because just as play develops children, play has developed us as a company. Smart Tech is the latest integrated technology from BRIO which is adding extra layers of functionality and play value to our timeless toys. The Smart Tech trains can stop, turn around, go slower or go faster using the accessories that are in the range, bringing even more magic to the BRIO World. In a world full of technology and computers, traditional play is at the core of what we do at BRIO. Our Smart Tech range combines clever train technology with traditional play patterns, meaning as parents you don’t need to feel nostalgic for those classic toys as they’re at the heart of everything we do.”

Watch this video on the BRIO Smart tech Engine with Action Tunnel Set:

Is it the Troll Dolls that make you feel nostalgic as you remember spending hours styling their bright pink hair? Perhaps seeing your DC talking to imaginary people on your phone makes you remember you doing the same on your Chatter Telephone? Did you think of yourself as a highly-skilled chef with your Easy-Bake Oven? Would you just spend hours drawing out things on your Etch A Sketch? Or is it good old Play-Doh that always make you feel nostalgic whenever your child plays with it?

Whichever toys make you feel nostalgic, share them on the thread below and everyone who comments will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list) and another four MNers will win a BRIO Smart Tech Engine Set with Action Tunnels, worth £89.95 each.

Thanks and good luck.

Sylvanian Families - I’m so delighted that my little girl loves them so I get to play with them again. I love all of the little pieces. I’ll never get over the fact my Mum gave all mine away.

My little ponies too - although the current ones are not a patch on the ones from the 80’s.

My favourite toy as a child was a Fisher Price 'record' player that came with 6 discs with grooves and played them like a traditional music box. They're a collectible now - I wish I'd been able to keep mine!

feeona123 · 21/10/2018 23:01

Polly pocket!
I loved mine and I saw a similar toy when my daughter was looking in the toy shop and it reminded me so much of them. Since I have seen that you can buy them still!

I remember playing with Sunday when I was 12 and my friend telling me not to let anyone know Grin
I had strawberry shortcake dolls that smelt amazing and I can still conjure up that smell now. Also care bears when they first came out. Wish I had kept them

I remember having plastic interlocking pieces that had cogs on which could be put together in different ways to make moving machines. The plastic had a really specific smell too. I was thinking about them the other day and would love to get my sons some but I can't remember what they were called :(

I also used to spend hours building jumps in my garden for my hobby horse. Me and my best friend would compete over the courses and we spent hours grooming and looking after our hobby horses. I wish I still had him I loved him to bits.

Fisher price toys and people! Can remember many happy hours creating scenes with those

lolamia91 · 22/10/2018 08:47

Play Doh, Mecano and lego

LiquoricePickle · 22/10/2018 09:26

I forgot to say that Barbies were my favorite too!

maursieq · 22/10/2018 10:11

I used to love playing with scraps. Found some recently in a shop and was taken right back to being a 6 year old.

Batfink78 · 22/10/2018 10:17

Big Trak is a fond set of precious memories for me. I asked for one Christmas but didn't get it so when I asked again the following year and I did it meant even more to me. I played with that thing so much. I even still have it and have it displayed in my offfice.

pittcity · 22/10/2018 11:29

Fuzzy felt brings back memories of using my imagination to transport me anywhere by sticking bits of felt to a Velcro board. I'd make a masterpiece and then carefully put all the bits back and start again on something completely different.....all without instagramming the results!

Sparklepants3 · 22/10/2018 11:34

Lego most definitely. Massive nostalgia trip for me.
Also barbies and poll pockets remind me of my childhood too

sweir1 · 22/10/2018 11:39

Dominoes. My grandad used to always play with us

badgermum · 22/10/2018 12:03

I had a lovely collection of Sindy dolls and a wonderful town house which I played with for hours and hours, It used to be in the corner of our lounge when i was a child, I think my parents put it there so i wasn't holed up in my bedroom all the time I spent playing with it, so all the 80's family activities went on around me from dinner being cooked to tv being watched whilst I played

I absolutely loved all of my polly pocket toys!

southernsun · 22/10/2018 12:50

Mr Frosty (although I never actually owned one) and Pokemon cards which both our boys are really into at the moment.

adamcorner · 22/10/2018 12:54

Mighty Max toys, the boys version of Polly Pockets make me feel nostalgic. I remember loving the cartoon too

6paces · 22/10/2018 13:20

Subbuteo for me,we had a league on our estate and played 'home and away',man some of those 'away' living room floors had sloping pitches but I was the league champion, every year.
C'mon!

HELENSCRESCENT · 22/10/2018 13:31

Playing with lego always makes me feel nostalgic. I had a brother who was alot older than me and not interested in playing dolls or with girly toys but he would play lego and make amazing models for me and we wpuld spend alot of time doing that so i have alot of fond memories of our time playing together. My children are now of the age that they enjoy lego so playing with them and helping them build models brings back alot of those happy feelings and memories.

bracken101 · 22/10/2018 13:53

I feel incredibly nostalgic about a toy garage at my grandparents which you turned a handle to wind the lift and at the top a bell would ring and the car would be launched down a ramp....endless hours of fun!

Lheath · 22/10/2018 13:59

Sylvainian families, trolls and my cabbage patch doll

Lheath · 22/10/2018 14:00

I had a glo worm I loved too

Funkyferret · 22/10/2018 14:38

Spirographs! I absolutely loved spending hours making patterns. I saw that they have made a bit of a comeback and I'm really tempted to buy myself one.

HomeEdRocks18 · 22/10/2018 14:55

I still have fond memories of my Mr Frosty Maker. I'd pestered my parents for months for one and helped around the house more dusting and vacuuming for ages.
I finally got one for Christmas when I was seven years old. I treasured it and made slushie drinks for my siblings and friends - cola and cherry were my favourite flavours.
