For many of us when we see or a hear a reference to a toy from our childhood, we are immediately transported by to a specific time when we were younger playing with that toy...queue all the nostalgic feelings. BRIO would love to know all the toys that give you that nostalgic feeling and what it is about them that makes you feel that way.

Here’s what BRIO have to say: “We just turned 130, yet we feel more vital than ever. And that’s a good thing when working with toys. Because just as play develops children, play has developed us as a company. Smart Tech is the latest integrated technology from BRIO which is adding extra layers of functionality and play value to our timeless toys. The Smart Tech trains can stop, turn around, go slower or go faster using the accessories that are in the range, bringing even more magic to the BRIO World. In a world full of technology and computers, traditional play is at the core of what we do at BRIO. Our Smart Tech range combines clever train technology with traditional play patterns, meaning as parents you don’t need to feel nostalgic for those classic toys as they’re at the heart of everything we do.”

Watch this video on the BRIO Smart tech Engine with Action Tunnel Set:

Is it the Troll Dolls that make you feel nostalgic as you remember spending hours styling their bright pink hair? Perhaps seeing your DC talking to imaginary people on your phone makes you remember you doing the same on your Chatter Telephone? Did you think of yourself as a highly-skilled chef with your Easy-Bake Oven? Would you just spend hours drawing out things on your Etch A Sketch? Or is it good old Play-Doh that always make you feel nostalgic whenever your child plays with it?

Whichever toys make you feel nostalgic, share them on the thread below and everyone who comments will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list) and another four MNers will win a BRIO Smart Tech Engine Set with Action Tunnels, worth £89.95 each.

Thanks and good luck.

Sindy dolls! My 2 sisters & I had lots between us plus loads of accessories - houses, swimming pool, cars, horse, caravan & so on. We loved them so much. My nan lived at the other end of the country & used to knit lots of clothes for them & send them to us in a big parcel, we got so excited when that arrived!

My favourite childhood toy was my farm animal set, I remember always taking up the whole front room making giant farms, endless amounts of fun!

vixxx666 · 23/10/2018 10:45

I remember The Little Yellow Teapot.

Twickerhun · 23/10/2018 12:04

we had a tiny battery powered train set which we played with, and any visitors also played with, including (or especially) adults. I love train sets now and collect lots of railway bits for my kids. Choo choo!

Cindy dolls, stickle bricks and the hairdressering play doh set which my parents hated as it always ended up stuck in the carpet!

Evel Knievel wind-up stunt motorcycle.
I was very popular round my way and made a lot of new friends just by owning this toy as I was the only person who managed to get it off Santa.

It's Sylvanian Families for me.

butterfly2001 · 23/10/2018 18:07

i used to love polly pocket as a child.

Givealittlebit · 23/10/2018 20:13

The main ones for me are marble run (which we would spend HOURS building various contraptions with) and big big loader. Me and both my siblings can remember that so clearly, including the theme song! And the time my brother got it stuck in my sisters hair and she had to have half of it cut off 😂

My sons starting to get very into anything vehicle related, and I can't wait to have memories with him and his favourite toys

Fuzzy Felt especially farm animals and the circus!

gotafeelingwithin · 23/10/2018 20:24

I saw a fuzzy felt type book today in the garden centre today been out with my toddler. It took me back to thinking of my many hours peeling and placing those tiny bits of felt on the boards. I loved fuzzy felt.

I may have also bought a few of the fisher price classic range toys for my little boy, as I had the same.

My aunt has saved the Brio train set from her son, who is now 19. My son loves visiting my aunties to play. It's in amazing condition and really stands the test of time.

Sindy dolls - always a better alternative to Barbie in our house. Remember one very excited christmas when i got the Sindy caravan and my sister got the horse and horsebox.

From my own kids' childhood, the toy which got the most use for the first couple of years was a set of cheap plastic cups from Woolies, built endless towers for knocking down.

MemoryOfSleep · 23/10/2018 20:58

Baby born dolls. I took caring for mine very seriously!

dadshere · 23/10/2018 22:18

I had a dolly that I used to take everywhere, she became so threadbare that in the end, she was held together by love more than thread

thekiwibex · 24/10/2018 02:03

Cabbage Patch Kids!

pandoraskids · 24/10/2018 07:57

Sindy doll - my nan used to make all the clothes from the patterns in the magazine

Radley1 · 24/10/2018 09:50

My favourite was a toy cash register with fake money from which I sold plastic fruit and veg.

Pigeonpea · 24/10/2018 12:57

Brio, because they used to make it in my home town, same as Ladybird books.
Meccano, as I had that at my Grandparents and definitely Cabbage Patch Kids

wwwwwwwwwwwwww · 24/10/2018 14:03

For me it's sticklebricks. Still great for tiny ones.

Noloudnoises · 24/10/2018 15:23

Sulvanian Families! I used to take their clothes off immediately and always broke their little braces and would immediately get annoyed!

beckyinman · 24/10/2018 18:08

Keypers - they were a bit weird looking back on it

phillie1 · 24/10/2018 19:55
