NOW CLOSED

Being chief decision-maker comes with the territory when you’re a parent - but sometimes the best way to go is not so clear cut. Take our quiz to find out how your decisions following common parenting conundrums align with those of other users’.

Here’s what O2 have to say: “#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

Whether you turn to the TV when things get tough, choose to embrace your child’s creativity no matter how questionable it may be or you find bargaining with your children the best way to get things done, take the quiz here and share any results that surprise you (or your own parenting conundrums) below.

All who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Wow seems , I go with the majority. Mums rule !!

moonray · 23/09/2018 08:52

All done: it turns out I'm average

charlenea · 23/09/2018 09:07

I would have answered a lot differently when i only had 1 child, but after 4 children I tend to pick my battles and let things go a bit more!

Spices001 · 23/09/2018 09:10

I was half typical & half not (I love pirates lol)

Ganne1 · 23/09/2018 09:13

As ever, some of the questions did not have suitable options. Our kids loved broccoli for instance!

janeyf1 · 23/09/2018 09:17

I seemed to pick the most popular answers in the majority of occasions

AR2012 · 23/09/2018 09:23

Not really surprised. my options seem average.

Helsbells68 · 23/09/2018 09:26

My responses were either the top or second most popular, good to know I am not in the minority :)

maryandbuzz1 · 23/09/2018 09:27

Yes...seem to be pretty typical apart from the one I pressed by mistake!

Ferryfairy · 23/09/2018 09:38

I'm Grandma Average

swebb1985 · 23/09/2018 09:43

Glad to see most of us are on the same page re: bedtimes. As a teacher I know how damaging staying up and playing on iPads is to the next morning's learning!

ParentsOfSummer · 23/09/2018 09:53

I would have said give them twice as much veg and let them talk me down into eating half. It looks like I'm mostly average with the second choicers :-)

cag2712 · 23/09/2018 09:54

With hindsight not sure my answers would be any different at the time but very middle of the road mum and at least we never came to blows even if there has been a lot of hot air and steam, just need to remember who is the adult and that at some point they will grow up and with luck have the whole experience for themselves and reflect on what they got right.

happysouls · 23/09/2018 10:00

Reminded me of the good old days! Glad my son is grown up and I no longer have to deal with all this stuff haha! I think I'm pretty laid back. Certainly no real objection to the pirate outfit, more likely answer is that I'd dress up to match!

phillie1 · 23/09/2018 10:06

very average

kellyroxannesmith · 23/09/2018 10:26

I’m average for mumsnet :) I just grin an bear it at times lol.

footdust · 23/09/2018 10:42

You have to pick your battles wisely as a parent - don't sweat the small stuff!

Lisapaige24 · 23/09/2018 10:50

I think the older I have become as a parent the strcicter I get am glad other parents have the same mindset

Blainalass · 23/09/2018 10:53

To be fair, I think I answered what I would (in theory) do - it didn't always go that way.

Catmadroo · 23/09/2018 10:53

A lot of the time its a case of pick your battles, with a special needs child I have to try different visual systems to get the desired behaviour, and this quiz doesn't really apply to children with special needs so I couldn't give answers that would apply in my case.

sezz35 · 23/09/2018 10:59

Interesting! It seems a lot very similar.

alibabbaskeggy · 23/09/2018 11:09

i parent slightly differently due to the behavioral challenges my asd daughter has but I also still believe in the basics

user1496053440 · 23/09/2018 11:12

Mostly in the majority, apart from the last question! A little bit of TV never hurt anyone right?

shellywkd · 23/09/2018 11:15

I think I am pretty much the same as most mums tired but still trying to not bargain with the children.

RolaColaLola · 23/09/2018 11:22

I was surprised by the number who would withhold pudding until all veg eaten. We encourage them to try everything on their plate and if I've said there's pudding then they get it (usually fruit)
