NOW CLOSED

Being chief decision-maker comes with the territory when you’re a parent - but sometimes the best way to go is not so clear cut. Take our quiz to find out how your decisions following common parenting conundrums align with those of other users’.

Here’s what O2 have to say: “#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

Whether you turn to the TV when things get tough, choose to embrace your child’s creativity no matter how questionable it may be or you find bargaining with your children the best way to get things done, take the quiz here and share any results that surprise you (or your own parenting conundrums) below.

All who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Watch TV was always my strong weapon. I would still use it whether
I -pads are kings of the scene. Television ALSO has games. Enough said. No good behaviour, no TV in any shape or form. Eating healthy is considered, at home, good behavoiur...

maureen3733 · 23/09/2018 11:44

i am surprised at how controlling i can be

ThemisA · 23/09/2018 11:49

Some of my answers would have been very different to the options of offer so I didn't feel able to fully express my style. I was surprised by how few put Beethoven on to inspire but also to drown out the racket! Mind you I like a bit of Beethoven

becky004 · 23/09/2018 11:50

My answers are along the lines of the majority

JJJWWW · 23/09/2018 12:01

Pretty average responses seemingly!!

deano777 · 23/09/2018 12:01

My answers seem to agree mostly with mumsnet. I have learned to choose my battles carefully.

LeeR1985 · 23/09/2018 12:02

Most of my answers where the same as the majority of people, only one that was different.

jtl1131 · 23/09/2018 12:04

Seems im in with the average! Although being a mum of 7 it varies between each child but im usually a pretty consistent mum and the same rules apply for all children

iut044 · 23/09/2018 12:09

Done I am average

Emmax12 · 23/09/2018 12:23

I’m with the majority with the pirate, but that’s about it.

I don’t count to three or withhold pudding, maybe I’m too soft!

juju3 · 23/09/2018 12:29

I am completely average !!

BabyTeeth · 23/09/2018 12:40

Norma normal here too.

MrsWithwithers · 23/09/2018 12:46

I must be in the minority in that my child will eat broccoli but not peas!

giddyypixie · 23/09/2018 12:46

Yep, I'm just a typical parent muddling through just like everyone else!

bubbleybooboo · 23/09/2018 12:59
  1. I think with this question it shocked me how many people would do the same as i would. I love my children to do what they want as they are so strng minded theres no changing their thoughts anyway when they get a idea in their head. I speak to so many parents that say oh i wouldnt be letting them do that/no way! but obviously by this quiz and the results so far theres plenty others that would let them

  2. Defo let them wear what they want! I dont bother. They are young and lifes a bug adventure to them. Time to be boring when they are older!

  3. My daughter would love extra cuddles. Eldest two would probs only respond to the ipad answer! Think it depends on age.

  4. I have no problems with any of them eating veg. They love it

  5. Holidays/weekends ive usually got plenty planned, even on days that we are staying in.

Overall bar two answers my answers are on line with the majority of others :D

lu44cy · 23/09/2018 13:26

This has really reassured me in my parenting skills. The counting to 3 at bedtime I thought was maybe harsh but good to see this on the quiz!

pixelwife · 23/09/2018 13:39

I was surprised at how few mums went for the earplugs option when their child was learning violin. Have you not heard the monstrous sound of a violin being murdered?

jamiethepaper · 23/09/2018 14:03

seems pretty accurate to me!

glenka · 23/09/2018 14:08

I did the survey and it surprised me by some the the answers.

MAForster · 23/09/2018 14:16

The problems don't seem to have changed much (except for the tablet and iPad) from 30 years ago. No easy solutions!

Minnibix · 23/09/2018 14:17

I am a big believer in not sweating the small stuff, a little bit of patience and compromise can go a long way

Ranita · 23/09/2018 14:20

The pirate outfit's "grin and bear it"...what? Time and a place for everything even pirating lol.

sunshinewey · 23/09/2018 14:41

Enjoyed the quiz, but it didnt give me a result, so sorry about that, but please do include my entry x

ren999 · 23/09/2018 14:50

Very suprised by my results.....thought I knew what i was doing but I have lot to learn lol

ptak5566 · 23/09/2018 14:56
