NOW CLOSED

Being chief decision-maker comes with the territory when you’re a parent - but sometimes the best way to go is not so clear cut. Take our quiz to find out how your decisions following common parenting conundrums align with those of other users’.

Here’s what O2 have to say: “#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

Whether you turn to the TV when things get tough, choose to embrace your child’s creativity no matter how questionable it may be or you find bargaining with your children the best way to get things done, take the quiz here and share any results that surprise you (or your own parenting conundrums) below.

All who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Seems I’m pretty typical

Doyoumind · 22/09/2018 08:13

Apparently I'm just the same as everyone else.

XenakisCarter · 22/09/2018 09:22

I think some if the answer options were a bit twee but picked the closest ones. I’m obviously a parent in the wrong time and am regarded as super strict - eat what you’re given, dress appropriately and do as you’re told.

Alevel · 22/09/2018 09:43

Smack back in the middle.

Good to know Grin

WingMirrorSpider · 22/09/2018 09:54

My answers would have been totally different for each of my kids. In retrospect I would have been a bit more relaxed and not sweated the small stuff as much as I did, particularly with my first. Nothing on earth would have convinced my second child to eat peas - he still doesn’t at 14.

HopeGarden · 22/09/2018 10:28

I’m pretty average.

Although surprised by how many people would go with the pirate costume!

Mixedupmummy · 22/09/2018 14:21

done! interesting

philnteds · 22/09/2018 17:23

I am so laid back now but DS is ten now I wasn't quite as easy going when he was a toddler!!

I’m bog standard except for letting them watch tv on school hols.
Only that’s not quite correct as I’d have started the day with telly.

SheisMammyof2 · 22/09/2018 23:48

Pretty average here too which I'm surprised at Hmm

westergille · 23/09/2018 00:55

I thought the violin question was going to be about your child doing no practice but refusing to give up the lessons when you say they don't have to carry on. Having this issue with DD1 over dance classes at the moment.

prwilson · 23/09/2018 06:57

Looks like I'm a typical Mumsnetter.

Clairecricket1 · 23/09/2018 07:17

I'm average for mumsnet!

suzyq50 · 23/09/2018 07:51

It shows every parent is experiencing the same battles

chloe282 · 23/09/2018 07:56

I agree with most of the popular answers! For example, dinnertime, we cook one family meal and if the children don't eat their vegetables, they won't get a pudding! I also agree that it's important to get the kids outdoors.

Islandoftheapes · 23/09/2018 08:03

Yep, seems I'm pretty average too!

angieburgess · 23/09/2018 08:16

I'm an average type of mum thankfully.

LauraMipsum · 23/09/2018 08:20

Chasing DD up the stairs is itself part of her bedtime routine now! I think I got the chasing you up the stairs song from someone on here.

I’m with the majority for mostly everything else except that I do still aeroplane food to her Blush

NicHay · 23/09/2018 08:21

I was the most popular answers apart from planning for holidays although a park trip would be in those plans!

Savagegtammy · 23/09/2018 08:25

I would love to say these are actually what I would do after little sleep and impatience, or rather what I would hope to do.

hiddenmichelle · 23/09/2018 08:28

I'm boringly average!

smchadwick · 23/09/2018 08:30

Turns out I'm like most other parents

clairemarthaw · 23/09/2018 08:33

Surprised that my responses were in the minority in some cases... I definitely think theres that dilemma between what you would actually do in some of those situations and what you think you should be seen to be doing. Such is the nature of parenting - we're all just trying to get by ;-)

Spencer1234 · 23/09/2018 08:36

Makes me feel better that all my answers were the most popular answers. I can't be doing this job too badly then ha ha
