This activity is now closed

After years of probably having to watch all sorts of wonderful and occasional strange children’s TV shows, it’s hard to not ending up having favourites...whether you love them in secret or not.]] would like to know which children’s shows you are more than happy to watch with your DC and why they’ve become your favourite.

Here’s what ]] have to say: “Now it’s the summer holidays, more and more families are streaming children’s shows such as Shaun The Sheep, My Little Pony, The Penguins of Madagascar and Just Add Magic. It’s great when you find a show that you can enjoy that works for both child and parent, and we would love to know what these shows are for you and your family.”

Has Dora the Explorer been an all-time favourite of yours for years because you end up learning things too? Perhaps you love trying to figure out who the baddy is in Scooby-Doo along with your DC? Maybe seeing Tom & Jerry on the screen always brings back some great nostalgic memories of when you were a child? Or do you love Postman Pat purely for the great theme tune?

Whatever your favourite children’s programme is, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 3 Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablets, made just for kids.

Thanks and good luck

peppa pig and horrid henry

Gooseysgirl · 09/08/2018 04:48

Pre-kids and while bed-ridden with flu over ten years ago, I became addicted to Shaun the Sheep! These days I bloody love Penguins of Madagascar! Also quite like Go Jetters. DH is a massive Hey Dugee fan.

Silvertap · 09/08/2018 06:14

We like singing along to the songs - Waffle and Go Jetters being 2 particular favourites!

GrumpyMooCow · 09/08/2018 06:24

Hey Duggee rules!

Sarah & Duck and Go Jetters are good too, but I could watch Hey Duggee all day long Blush

bushtailadventures · 09/08/2018 07:08

Hey Duggee is awesome, teaches lots, and I really want a Duggee hug Smile

The original Thomas the Tank Engine series, we started watching the new one but I found the old ones and switched allegiance.

Bitz & bobz is my newest favourite though, fun and science at the same time.

chezza1703 · 09/08/2018 08:28

Hey Duggee, Bing, Sarah and Duck and Tee and Mo

Cheguevarahamster · 09/08/2018 08:29

I love watching horrible histories with my two and quite enjoy Scooby-Doo. I particularly loved Old Jack's boat as I Bernard Cribbins (in Jackanory) was part of my child hood growing up.

apney and teal, 54 zoo lane, the dengineers

ikkle87 · 09/08/2018 09:12

I'm a tiny bit addicted to Andy and the Odd Socks and sing along with all the songs, his other shows like Andy and the Dinosaurs are favourites too.

owlofathena · 09/08/2018 09:13

I love Horrible Histories. I have a nine month old who will only settle in the evening if she can watch fifteen minutes of Horrible Histories, she actually dances to the songs. I find that after I've put her to bed upstairs I come downstairs and it's still playing so I end up spending the evening watching it. I've learnt so much!

sarat1 · 09/08/2018 09:38

I still enjoy all of my favourites from my childhood (during the 80s). Personal favourite is still Knightmare, its so exciting to watch!

SweetMummy911 · 09/08/2018 09:40

I secretly enjoy Blaze and the Monster Machine. It's actually a bit educational and teaches the kids something Grin

countryred · 09/08/2018 10:09

DD and I love Topsy and Tim. She loves the fact it is real children doing ‘real’ things and is engrossed. She doesn’t really watch much tv but this has her hooked. I can’t pinpoint why I like it but whenever it’s on I find I have watched the whole episode when I was supposed to be doing something like making tea! I think I like the fact it is so calm!

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 09/08/2018 10:27

Scooby doo is everyone's favourite, my mum used to watch it with me and now she and I watch it with my dc (age 3&8).
Horrible histories both kids love it and we have all learnt alot Grin
My dd3 loves Spirit and Waybaloo, I don't know why but both are just easy relaxing watches, lovely dozey snuggles when it's raining outside.

margaritasbythesea · 09/08/2018 10:42

Octonauts. Ben and Holly's little kingdom. Peppa Pig.

My children have outgrown them all but they make me giggle.

Sometimes I try to force them to watch them for old time's sake. No dice.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 09/08/2018 11:47

Peppa Pig! Ds has moved on to Postman Pat, Thomas & Friends and Paw Patrol. But I'm really looking forward to my youngest discovering Peppa.

LateToTheParty · 09/08/2018 12:45

Scooby Doo is a family favourite here, DH & I remember it fondly from our childhood, and our kids discovered it and love it too!

supercalifragilistic2 · 09/08/2018 13:16

Currently watching paw patrol. Ds is asleep and has been for the last few hours. Love rubble Grin

Also like the Floogals. I tend to find myself humming the tune every so often Blush

BellaVida · 09/08/2018 13:36

I used to enjoy Littke Einsteins- good for the art and music. Deadly 60 was also fun with Steve Backshall ahem and Bear Grylls too- DC love all the animal and outdoors adventure stuff honestly! Lately I've been quite enjoying one my DD watches, H2O: Just Add Water, which is an Aussie tween series based on 3 girls who can turn into mermaids. Aussie beaches and magic, what's not to love?!

Strippervicar · 09/08/2018 13:39

Blaze and the Monster Machines here. DD is 3 and has autism. She loves the interactive numbers bits, and we sing along to the songs too. I like it that she isn't completely zonked out whilst watching.
I also, secretly like Postman Pat, it reminds me of my own childhood. Just a pity they got rid of Miss Hubbard.

Tonkatol · 09/08/2018 14:20

With my older children (so going back several years now) I used to love watching Tots TV with them - particularly when they spoke in French. Smile

For my youngest, it has to be Ben and Holly - always manages to make me smile, although DD has now moved on, so only get to see it if she is unwell and needs something she can just look at.

Hate the way you just get into a programme and then the DC move on to something more grown up! Grin

MessyJ87 · 09/08/2018 14:34

Hey Duggee is always on, it’s hard not to like it!

Earthmoon · 09/08/2018 16:54

Blaze and the monster machines, I love how it has widened ds vocabulary.

yell0w · 09/08/2018 17:16

Go Jetters! Educational and fun. I’ve learned some things from it.
