Mumsnet users share the parenting moments where they've wondered "Is it alright if…?" with O2

NOW CLOSED

Parenting isn’t easy. The pressures of daily life make it even trickier, never mind the ages of your children, or whether you're a stay-at-home mum or a working one. Anyone who's been stuck with a teen on a bad day or a toddler … on any day, will know that sometimes you just need to do whatever it takes to get by so you can hold onto your sanity for another day. Even if that means flexing your parenting methods from time to time.

Here’s what O2 has to say:
"#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

So what does it take to break you and make you question your parenting prowess? Do you tell your children carrots are good for night vision so they eat their veggies? Always carry a packet of sweets to use as a bargaining chip when you’re out and about? Or do you volunteer to be seeker so you can sit on the sofa, eating crisps and shouting "I'm coming to get you!" every three minutes…?

Share the moments you've wondered #isitalright if …? and what drove you to it with O2 to be in with the chance to win a £300 voucher for the store of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

If I pretend I haven't heard them shouting me after the 10th non important "I need you" of the day!

ceroooss · 06/08/2018 20:30

Is it alright if I've hard a long day at work and feed my children cheesy beans on toast and don't feel guilty at all?

PhilTB54 · 06/08/2018 20:36

#isitalright at the end of a v v v v hot, sweating buckets day being ragged all over the place by DCs I turn the hose on em FULL BLAST as plot is lost in garden.

suewilly · 06/08/2018 20:57

#isitalright if I tell a 2 year old that his go kart has been sent to a man in a garage to fix it because my back just needs a break from running alongside him, bent almost double, so he can be pushed 'faster! faster!'?

Furthermore, #isitalright if I told him today that 'the man' had gone on holiday but will fix the go kart as soon as he's back?

Kangakate · 06/08/2018 21:04

#IsItAlright for my toddler to have a bit of takeaway now and again instead of cooking everything from scratch, when you just get to the end of the day and you've had enough?

del2929 · 06/08/2018 22:03

is it alright if i bribe the darlings to behave with extra ipad time?

angiehoggett · 06/08/2018 23:00

#isitalright I put my foot down and not allow my children mobile phone until they're older. All their friends have them but I'm worried of bullying and abuse.

jamielmdjs · 06/08/2018 23:56

#isitallrightif I scoop a hard poo out my 7 month old's nappy rather than change the nappy altogether? He's going 7/8 times a day and i'm running out of nappies.

eandoauntie · 07/08/2018 06:53

I'm currently pregnant and at the start, Google was my go to - until it got to the stage where I cut my finger and asked Google if it could harm my baby. I was obsessed and although I still check a couple of things I'm only checking twice a day now instead of 200 times.

noynoyavery · 07/08/2018 10:44

#isitalright it wish I only stuck with 2 kids sometimes..not that I can pick which one I would get rid of..they can all be pretty annoying tbh. Love them to bits really..no I do. I do.

chunkychocky · 07/08/2018 13:37

#isitalright If I let them play fortnite as much as they want to during the school holidays to avoid the arguments and moans of boredom.

piggypoo · 07/08/2018 16:13

#isitallright To think that the 3 second rule for dropping food off the kitchen floor and eating it still counts? The DC's haven't died yet! :)

cathryn1 · 07/08/2018 19:25

#isitallrightif I take my 4 year old to the pub, to social with other kids so i can have a chilled glass of wine alone

slbhill42 · 07/08/2018 22:13

#isitalright to send him to bed hungry if he's refused to eat dinner?

NatureIs · 07/08/2018 23:20

"Is it alright if..." I tell them the bits of veg I like least are the best bits so they always ask for those and I get what I like?!

Thatforagameof · 08/08/2018 21:26

#isitalriggt if i tell the children the malteasers contain nuts so i can eat them all 🤷🏻‍♀️

countryred · 09/08/2018 14:09

#isitalright to tidy the toys up by hiding them under the sofa?!!

OnMyWayToday · 09/08/2018 23:05

Is it all right that I pretend my fizzy juice is alcoholic so the kids won’t want any?

itsonlysubterfuge · 11/08/2018 11:23

Is it all right to let her watch so much TV?

purplepandas · 11/08/2018 18:46

Is it alright simply not to care about academic performance as long as they are doing their best? I am an academic so know it is (and what I say) but it almost feels hypocritical given my background and job!

Highfever · 11/08/2018 22:46

#isitalright to let them walk from car to school on their own.

Answer Yes in the morning as I drop them further down and they wait by school gate til they see me drive by.

rhinosuze · 13/08/2018 21:40

Is it alright to use sweets as bribes but also is it alright to just want half an hour to myself sometimes?

queenoftheschoolrun · 15/08/2018 11:08

Is it alright to turn the clock back so they think it's bedtime?!

vickyors · 03/09/2018 21:15

#isitalright if I tell my kids the tooth fairy is real...? and that I want to read to them at the kitchen table so they eat.. (once been tempted to use an ipad- but would be slippery slope..)

@JustineBMumsnet
How long does a thread normally run before you make the draw and do you announce on the thread that it's been done ( not mentioning names of course) ?
