NOW CLOSED

Parenting isn’t easy. The pressures of daily life make it even trickier, never mind the ages of your children, or whether you're a stay-at-home mum or a working one. Anyone who's been stuck with a teen on a bad day or a toddler … on any day, will know that sometimes you just need to do whatever it takes to get by so you can hold onto your sanity for another day. Even if that means flexing your parenting methods from time to time.

Here’s what O2 has to say:
"#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

So what does it take to break you and make you question your parenting prowess? Do you tell your children carrots are good for night vision so they eat their veggies? Always carry a packet of sweets to use as a bargaining chip when you’re out and about? Or do you volunteer to be seeker so you can sit on the sofa, eating crisps and shouting "I'm coming to get you!" every three minutes…?

Share the moments you've wondered #isitalright if …? and what drove you to it with O2 to be in with the chance to win a £300 voucher for the store of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

freefan · 27/07/2018 21:21

lhlee62 · 27/07/2018 23:00

#IsItAlright to keep lying about the tooth fairy, Santa, Easter bunny, any other fictional character to force my kids to behave?? I tell my kids not to lie, but I'm telling fibs all the time??

SnapCrackle · 27/07/2018 23:22

Is it alright... for her to eat slug pellets?

(it was alright.. After a call to poison control! )

dadshere · 27/07/2018 23:35

#isitalright if I tell dd that eating tomatoes will make her taller than daddy?

tabbaz123 · 28/07/2018 07:21

#IsItAlrightIf - I do not go back to the clinic when I know that the miserable horrid health visitor is there! Sometimes we meet someone in life whom despite our best efforts we simply cannot get on with. I have seen, heard and spoken to so many mums that are terrified of this woman and have broken down in floods of tears over her attitude and comments that I actively stay away now unless I know she is not there!

pandoraskids · 28/07/2018 07:44

#isitalright if I give my kids bags of sweets to keep the peace on a long car journey?

itbemay · 28/07/2018 10:27

@asuwere I have done that before!! several times... glad i'm not the only one!

devito92 · 28/07/2018 10:45

Is it alrightto let my son have a xbox yet, aged 10. All his friends did and so we gave in. A mistake for all parents as the xbox is the end of childhood.

Summerdays2014 · 28/07/2018 11:21

To let my 2 year old sleep in the same top he has been wearing all day as he refuses to take it off (and then let him wear it the next day too?) It’s his very favourite paw patrol top... I’ve looked for another identical one but can’t find it...

helly01pbo · 28/07/2018 13:54

I have this quite often. The most recent when we were at a friends bbq. They were running around wreaking havoc, and I was thinking 'is it alright if I just ignore them, pretend they aren't mind and just finish this bottle of prosecco?'. Then unfortunately that duty guilt kicked in and I had to have a word with them!

BL0SS0M · 28/07/2018 15:36

Is it alright to allow the kids screen time so you can watch something in peace and quiet

sophiefx · 28/07/2018 15:37

Is it alright if I give her a little bit of Easter egg? Even though she's only 10 months?

pinkjjf27 · 28/07/2018 16:06

To tell my kids a white lie. My friend has such a go at me when I told my child that the shop wasn’t allow to sell that very expensive toy on father Christmas. She doesn’t let hers belive in Father Christmas, the tooth fairy or anything. She is always telling me my Children will not grow up to trust and respect me because I tell white lies

sarah861421 · 28/07/2018 16:10

Is it alright if I change my mind. Whenever my son asked if he could do something my instinct would be to say no, he would then ask again and I would realise that he probably could and I had made the wrong decision but was afraid to back down and be seen as weak

Cailin7 · 28/07/2018 20:03

Is it all right to go to Paris and not go to EuroDisney, DCs not happy ..

emmmaaa26 · 28/07/2018 20:31

Is it alright to bribe them in the supermarket so they don't make a show of you #IsItAlright

Marg2k8 · 29/07/2018 16:04

Is it alright to tell them not to lie, when I tell them that Santa comes at Christmas?

abby12321 · 29/07/2018 18:31

Is it alright if I occasionally bride my 3 year old with videos my phone to have a quiet meal in a restaurant?!

Lheath · 29/07/2018 20:50

Is it alright that I put the majority of my daughter's art/crafts in the recycling when she's in bed

kkhimji · 29/07/2018 22:35

Is it alright if I tell him no pocket money this week

mollymoo818 · 30/07/2018 15:36

Is it alright if I bribe them to go somewhere else in the house and just leave me in peace for half an hour. I used to have guilt about it but now there are some days when I am willing to just give them anything they want to have 10 minutes with a cuppa and some blissful silence.

CatherineV · 30/07/2018 16:53

Is it alright if at dinner, I cellotape the cutlery to my grandchild's hands to encourage them to not use their fingers?
I once had a friend who did this to her child and it worked :)

Jeffingandeffing · 30/07/2018 19:55

#isitalright to pretend to phone father christmas when my children are playing up just to get them to behave.

Ikea1234 · 30/07/2018 20:24

Is it alright to get the kids to watch tv alone so that I can go to the loo in peace?!
