NOW CLOSED

Parenting isn’t easy. The pressures of daily life make it even trickier, never mind the ages of your children, or whether you're a stay-at-home mum or a working one. Anyone who's been stuck with a teen on a bad day or a toddler … on any day, will know that sometimes you just need to do whatever it takes to get by so you can hold onto your sanity for another day. Even if that means flexing your parenting methods from time to time.

Here’s what O2 has to say:
"#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

So what does it take to break you and make you question your parenting prowess? Do you tell your children carrots are good for night vision so they eat their veggies? Always carry a packet of sweets to use as a bargaining chip when you’re out and about? Or do you volunteer to be seeker so you can sit on the sofa, eating crisps and shouting "I'm coming to get you!" every three minutes…?

Share the moments you've wondered #isitalright if …? and what drove you to it with O2 to be in with the chance to win a £300 voucher for the store of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

#isitalright to wish someone would tell me I'm doing a good job.
My children have become feral and I'm starting to think it's my parenting skills. I just want that confidence boost to get me through the worst times

Is it alright to say all (many/most/some) of the things my parents did and wonder if they ever worked for me......

Shesawinner1989 · 31/07/2018 15:56

Is it alright if we don’t go out today but do lots of activities indoors for example painting, drawing, baking or just dancing being silly.

wintertime94 · 31/07/2018 17:21

#isitalright to give extra snacks when they are misbehaving in public (like while on a bus).

Nsmum14 · 31/07/2018 18:29

Is it alright to put a few small chocolates (minstrels, smarties or similar) in my pocket when we go out, for emergency bribing? For instance when they really don't want to leave the play park (and I really do) or when they are too tired to walk any longer, but we need to in order to get home. It really works well, but I wonder if it is the best tactic.

Is it alright that when DS grows up and cooks his date a chicken curry he'll announce it as a "ham curry" and the date will probably either run for the hills or fall about laughing? He insists he hates chicken but is happy to tuck into "white ham."

llamaparades · 31/07/2018 23:08

Is it alright if I try to bribe my 3 year old with sweets/ chocolates to get dressed and sit in his pushchair it never works so he never actually gets any sweets but I wished it did as he absolutely hates getting dressed 🙈.

Is it alright to tell my Year 6 daughter that Father Christmas isn't real. It will either shatter her childhood illusions or save her from potential bullying at high school.

ncullinane · 01/08/2018 14:00

#isitalright if I let them have a second packet of crisps just to keep the peace?!

GooodMythicalMorning · 01/08/2018 15:57

Dc are an awkward age, so dont necessarily want to spend all their time with is so its is it ok for the kids to stay home? Most ofthe time its yes though.

Flapdoodles · 01/08/2018 16:11

Is it alright if I let DS play fortnite and DD play on her tablet, just so I can have a cup of tea in peace?

TopBitchoftheWitches · 01/08/2018 18:09

#isitalright that I leave my 4 teens aged 13, 14, 16 and 17 home alone whilst I go to work at my minimum wage, zero hours contract, job.

I'm a single mum and actually have no other choice. Sad

mishknight · 01/08/2018 21:15

#isitalright to trust my instinct regarding parenting issues

mishknight · 01/08/2018 21:16

#isitalright if I put a treat in my DC's lunch bag at the end of the week

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 01/08/2018 23:58

#isitallrightif I wait until end of term to treat their nits? Blush They'll only get them again ...
(but no I didn't wait ... and yes I had nits too ...)

JudgeRulesNutterButter · 02/08/2018 08:03

Is it all right if the only tv they want to watch is ENDLESS paw patrol? Surely it’s a special kind of brain rot if they are just watching the same shit over and over and over. I feel a variety of shit would be a slight improvement.

FireflyGirl · 02/08/2018 08:03

#isitalright to tell DS I'm eating carrot sticks when he hears the crisp packet rustle...

ivegonegreyfindingausername · 02/08/2018 10:06

#isitalright to give my kids biscuits before breakfast and cartoons/ipads so I can have that 1st coffee of the day in semi peace (its become the norm Smile )

jazzitup · 02/08/2018 11:20

Is it alright to eat my daughter's chocolate.

littlemonkeyz · 02/08/2018 12:05

#isitalright to teach my child to lie about their age to get free entry into attractions or be old enough to get on to rides?! My son once aged 2 years in just 2 days!

AVT5 · 02/08/2018 13:12

Is it all right if I move the clocks forward so their bed time is an hour earlier tonight

applesin · 02/08/2018 14:39

Is it alright that I'm breastfeeding and bedsharing with my toddler still? It's the only way I get any sleep! 🙈

Beeziekn33ze · 02/08/2018 15:05

Is it all right that the toddler has been lied to and thinks raisins are sweets and crackers are biscuits?

katieskatie82 · 02/08/2018 15:19

is it alright if i told my 3 year old if he picks his nose his hair might fall out?? hahaha

CeeMe32 · 02/08/2018 17:34
