This activity is now closed

The summer holidays are filled with busy days spent navigating heaving soft play centres, staging obstacle courses around the garden, finding new reasons for why, no, your child can not have another ice cream - and generally throwing your all in to avoiding the dreaded moans of ‘I’m bored’. But when the kids are worn out and have (finally) been shipped off to bed, it’s time for parents to relax. With a range of new films, on demand and ready whenever you are, Sky Cinema is there to help you recharge this summer, and to celebrate we would love to know your tips for a perfect cosy night in.

Do you like to finally make the time to catch up on those new releases that you missed in the cinema, like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League? Or maybe the perfect evening is spent with a glass of wine in hand, preparing a delicious slap up meal for two? Perhaps you use the few hours of peace to relax with a serious at-home pamper session - cucumber eye mask and all.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema, the dedicated home for movie lovers. Enjoy unlimited movies on demand, from the biggest blockbusters to much loved family favourites. With something for everyone this summer, Sky Cinema is ready whenever you are.”

However you spend your perfect night in, post it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Pj's and slippers on, toys tidied away, glad of wine and a good film to escape into.

BaconCrispsGone · 11/07/2018 10:17

takeaway, bath, snuggle up under blanket

ApocalypseNowt · 11/07/2018 10:28

Deciding what to watch is part of the fun! Me and DH usually decide on a genre then one of us picks a selection (say 3 films) then the other one gets to choose!

Get into 'house clothes' immediately. Beer to start then a bottle of wine with the takeaway - has to be pizza if it's film night. Dim the lights and enjoy!

colleenw · 11/07/2018 10:59

A takeaway which doesn't include much clearing up afterwards
snacks and a glass of wine.

ColinsVeryJolly · 11/07/2018 11:21

Get straight in to pyjamas, takeaway ready to eat, comedy series on the telly and a very chilled Pinot Grigio for me 👍🏼

Amber0685 · 11/07/2018 11:41

Sitting and eating outside in the evening in this weather. We grew up in Australia and as a child my DHs parents even had a television rigged up outside. The whole family would spend the evening out there watching films sometimes even sleeping outside.

itsallgravybaby · 11/07/2018 11:55

Dogs walked, PJs on, make up off (for me).
Takeaway ordered for the two of us. Scented candles lit, phones away so no disturbances. Usually catch up on a film that both of us haven't seen, occasionally streaming something on Netflix or Prime. Then he'll go to bed to catch up on sports and I'll spend an hour or so on the PS4 then we'll reunite to go to sleep.

Perfect balance :)

Itunes movie rental, pizza and feet up with DH. Love it!

claza93 · 11/07/2018 13:03

Kids in bed, PJs on and sitting on our new garden furniture catching up on the day. Takeaway on order and a chilled glass if vino in hand. We love to catch up on a box set on the TV in the garden

ha2el · 11/07/2018 14:06

In the summer our perfect 'night in' is to sit outside in the garden on a comfy old abandoned sofa in mostly companionable silence sharing the sight and sound of the swifts reeling and swooping in the evening sky, , the emerging stars and planets and a small glass of refreshment with cheese and crackers.

LittleSpace · 11/07/2018 14:08

Real fire, red wine / hot chocolate depnding on mood and family. A good action adventure goes down well.

dannydog1 · 11/07/2018 14:26

A favourite film, snacks and the log burner on

fishnships · 11/07/2018 14:45

In the winter: hot bath then snuggle in our pj's on the sofa with chocolates, drinks and a roaring log fire...

Churrolicious · 11/07/2018 16:28

Binge watch of a good TV series (Ray Donovan and Luke Cage Season 2 have been popular here the last little while), curled up on the sofa together in our PJs. Thai takeaway if we're being good(ish), Dominos if we're not. A bottle of imported American beer each - the kind that we drink on holiday. Neither DC waking up for wee / drink / general interruption.

Bliss.

Tesco dine in for two meal. Lay out the table nicely with candles. Eat dinner and then cuddle us with a nice film.

michael888 · 11/07/2018 16:48

A nice meal with a glass of wine and good conversation.

Caribbeanyesplease · 11/07/2018 17:49

Friends
Nice healthy salads
Wine

Or
My children and I watching a film together

MrsMarigold · 11/07/2018 18:24

No cooking, early bath, pyjamas on, kids in bed at 7.30 ( a rarity), a blanket, a big sofa and a good drama and a large glass of water, DH out somewhere where he eats and then doesn't want a second meal when he gets home. Bed by myself with the window wide open. Bliss.

pongopig · 11/07/2018 19:17

Good film for all the family, onesies on, lots of chocolate and a cup of tea. Perfect!

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 11/07/2018 19:37

It’s been scorching here and actually nicer to sit outdoors of an evening rather than indoors.

We set up the projector outside to watch our favourite films and got comfy on the garden furniture with blankets etc.

Quite a few of our neighbours are now doing the same so I think it has caught on!

We would prefer a cool, airy night in rather than a cosy one in this heat!!

AndHarry · 11/07/2018 21:14

A snuggle on the sofa with DP, with crudités and hummus and a good comedy.

kateandme · 11/07/2018 21:14

sitting outside under the stars with a drink and friends
snuggling on the sofa with a good program all the family love to watch.
cup of tea book and great tv.
cooking a nice meal to enjoy together.

rhinosuze · 11/07/2018 21:17

Cuddling up as a family, a nice film and a sweet treat

cinabar · 11/07/2018 21:37

something nice to drink, some good snacks (love a bowl of popcorn) and a Thriller to watch together on the sofa. Simple pleasures.

7KidsnoTV · 12/07/2018 00:14

For a perfect cosy night in. you need a decent Movie, something to drink and plenty of nibbles, and someone special to curl up with to enjoy it all.
