NOW CLOSED

It’s inevitable that clothes sometimes end up dirty and stained, and though you may have handy tips and tricks for removing stains, there might be some that fill you with dread. Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about the stains that you’re most scared of.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We never want people to be afraid of wearing the clothes they love in case it gets stained. It’s our job to help. We want to know what are the really devilish stains that never seem to budge”.

Do you struggle with mud stains? Maybe your child wiping their hands down their clothes after eating greasy food fill you with dread? Perhaps baby poo stains are your nemesis? Or maybe it’s a spilt glass of wine that you worried may never come out?

Whatever the stains you’re most scared of, share them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Turmeric, mayonnaise and tomato based foods. I don't like doing a lot of hot washes due to the increased energy usage but even when I do, these stains don't come out.

Also, what on earth do nurseries put in their food that just doesn't shift off clothes?!?

Seafour · 04/07/2018 19:14

I raised nine children, stains don't scare meGrin

TillyMint81 · 04/07/2018 20:04

My son is almost three and a dirt magnet. I tend to avoid light coloured clothes altogether because I think there are some things that just won't shift!
At the moment I'm trying (and failing) to get an ink stain out of some beige shorts (bought by someone else!) that I love him in.
Sometimes he has three outfit changes in one day. Whilst it's hot I've taken to letting him run round in his pants at home and just slapping a wet cloth over him regularly Grin

School's bolognaise sauce - goodness knows what's in it.

And blood!

MamaMilkMachine · 04/07/2018 22:07

Absolutely anything my little monkey eats....but wotsits and anything tomato based are the worst

Iceweasel · 04/07/2018 22:24

Grease. It's a pain because I don't notice until the clothes are washed and dry so need rewashing.

ZenasSuitcases · 04/07/2018 22:36

Bolognese sauce is the worst, but it's my daughter's favourite food! I'm not sure why she wastes so much on her clothes though Shock

itsallgravybaby · 04/07/2018 22:45

Deodorant marks, greasy stains (eg from an oil based sauce), tomato and blood! Not all from the same activity of course!

numptynuts · 05/07/2018 07:50

Blood.

Flisspaps · 05/07/2018 08:08

None. I use D-Solv it spray which gets EVERYTHING out.

Sunblock

egghead030116 · 05/07/2018 12:46

bolognese is the absolute devil but grass stains are another favourite with my 2-year-old.

mrsoutnumbered · 05/07/2018 12:51

After yesterday - sun cream! I usually bleach my sons polo shirts before I wash them as he always comes home filthy. When I did it yesterday, the bleach combined with the sun cream turned the shirts bright PINK!

I washed them and got them out in the sun and now they look almost normal again.

Highfever · 05/07/2018 13:17

White board marker pens!

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 05/07/2018 13:34

Lily pollen, white board pen, blackberries

claza93 · 05/07/2018 14:04

Pasta sauce stains from school dinners - god knows what they put in the sauce but it never seems to come off!
Tomato soup is another one that seems to spread everywhere but never comes off!

arranfan · 05/07/2018 16:19

Grease, oil, turmeric.

The grease and oil can be cooking-related or the astonishing amount of grease released from heads while sleeping.

PolkerrisBeach · 05/07/2018 16:54

Tomato sauce is the devil's work! Not ketchup (as it probably doesn't have much real tomato), but bolognese sauce with passata. Got some on a favourite shirt recently and ruined it, couldn't get it out at all.

Maybe we should just all eat spag bol eating bin bags.

Whenwillthewashingend · 05/07/2018 17:27

Chocolate fudge cake. When we eat out, my Son always has to have it. He has Autism so isn't the tidiest if eaters.
I always make sure he's wearing dark clothes, then it isn't obvious.

lizzybusy · 05/07/2018 20:56

Beetroot and tomato soup are nightmare stains!

RayRae19 · 05/07/2018 21:13

Satsuma juice seems to ruin all my DD's bibs! Orange stains just don't come out!

slithytove · 05/07/2018 22:36

Blood
Whiteboard marker

buckley1983 · 05/07/2018 22:52

Sun cream stains have ruined so many of my son's white school polo shirts! I have tried everything to get the stains out, but nothing shifts them!
Tomato based stains are also particularly stubborn - I've seen a thread recently which recommends leaving tomato stained items out in the sunshine so I'm going to give that a try!

VickyRsuperstar · 06/07/2018 09:09

I worry about banana stains as they always go black and never come out of anything I wash. Tomato based soups, pasta and sauces. Also some red and orange paints and pens are hard to remove completely.
