Which stains do you worry about most? Find out what Mumsnet users told Fairy Non Bio

NOW CLOSED

It’s inevitable that clothes sometimes end up dirty and stained, and though you may have handy tips and tricks for removing stains, there might be some that fill you with dread. Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about the stains that you’re most scared of.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We never want people to be afraid of wearing the clothes they love in case it gets stained. It’s our job to help. We want to know what are the really devilish stains that never seem to budge”.

Do you struggle with mud stains? Maybe your child wiping their hands down their clothes after eating greasy food fill you with dread? Perhaps baby poo stains are your nemesis? Or maybe it’s a spilt glass of wine that you worried may never come out?

Whatever the stains you’re most scared of, share them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Grease. Turmeric. Tar, poo, blood.

BIWI · 01/07/2018 19:17

Meant to add a Grin @FinallyHere!

PAINT!!!
I'm all for letting my child have their freedom and exploring and using their imagination through play, but as a mother and having to clean their clothes when they have the so called "washable paint" drives me up the wall as nothing gets it completely out!!!
I'm the one who has to tell Nanny Dora's outfit to my child has been ruined when they have only work it once 😂

It has to be tomato sauce at number one on the list. Closely followed by curry, chocolate and felt tip pen.

FinallyHere · 01/07/2018 20:58

Just you and me, then, BIWI, who do classify their feelings in the face of tomatoe sauce or, shock horror, sun creme, as fear Hmm

Haffdonga · 01/07/2018 20:58

Scared of stains? Hmm Is this another way of making us feel inadequate about things that had never crossed our minds before, so we suddenly decide we need to panic buy products to solve imaginary problems?

No, there are other things in my life way more important to worry about. Irritated by? Perhaps fat stains from cooking on my favourite cotton tops.

Really? Fear.. honestly? Rather than say ho hum another load of washing needing doing?

Black dry wipe board markers & blue biro pens

smithsurvey14 · 01/07/2018 22:45

Black ink! School uniform is a white shirt and I now have 3 shirts stained with black ink that won't come clean.

HotSauceCommittee · 01/07/2018 23:25

What bollocks! Stains aren’t scary. Hopefully, all of our lives are bigger than this. Stains may be a pain in the arse, but domestic abuse, keeping our children safe, employment issues and earning a decent living wage which enables us as individuals are all scarier issues than a few bloody stains. And fuck off with your testing on animals.

BIWI · 02/07/2018 07:37

Actually, I really should ask DH, as he's the one who does the washing. I haven't noticed him cowering in the corner by the dirty washing basket though ...
Wink

Bubblysqueak · 02/07/2018 09:32

School whiteboard pens are a nightmare. Especially on white logoed tops that you can't use stain remover with bleach.

GeoGirl94 · 02/07/2018 12:17

strawberries, non water based paints (emulsion is my biggest bugbare) and any satter from cooking bolognese !!

bridgetosomewhere · 02/07/2018 13:53

Tomato based sauces and school paint - what do they put in that stuff?!

I leave clothes out on the line to bleach them for days at a time....

yotica · 02/07/2018 13:59

Paint from nursery when my daughter refuses to wear an apron, tangerine stains, freshly cut grass, olive oil, cherry juice, tomato ketchup...

danigrace · 02/07/2018 16:58

Black mystery knees from crawling around outside

BonjourMinou · 02/07/2018 17:32

Banana, mud and sun cream all tend to be bin jobs

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 02/07/2018 17:46

Silly Putty, marker pen, blood.

Time40 · 02/07/2018 20:08

I quake with uncontrollable fear at all of them. I'm really, really, really scared. I honestly must be more terrified of stains than anyone you could ever meet. I'm especially frightened of biro marks.

Please give me £300. It would be very nice and I would enjoy it. Thank you.

DyslexicsAreCool · 02/07/2018 20:26

Tomato pasta sauce
Curries - turmeric

lpchill · 02/07/2018 20:32

That special surprise when they should have been sleeping but instead where side squishing that lovely poop into there pyjamas or onesie. Extra points if it was white as it never comes out. Also the dribble stains on bibs and tops. Bleaching it doesn't help with that either

SleepFreeZone · 02/07/2018 20:51

Tomato based stains disappear in sunlight. So hang the clothes on the line on a sunny day and they’ll be gone within half an hour.

I’m struggling with my son’s white school shirts at the moment. I use Fairy non-bio and soak them in a solution of warm water and stain removing powder first, but still I cannot get out black felt tip or the yellowing from the sun cream he’s been wearing daily on his arms and neck.

weasel6 · 03/07/2018 02:25

Banana. It just kind of cooks to brown in the washing machine.

NauticalDisaster · 03/07/2018 06:30

Grease on white clothes, permanent marker on school shirts

zippey · 03/07/2018 08:10

Ken Bru stains are terrible! Not sure if Fairy would get rid of it.
