NOW CLOSED

It can be difficult to ensure that clothes always smell good - especially if you have messy toddlers or teenagers that leave P.E kit in bags for weeks. Fairy Non Bio would like you to share your tips for making sure your clothes smell great.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “At Fairy Non Bio, we know that even if you have very sensitive skin, you still want that freshly washed smell on your clothes and fabrics. We have perfected our formula on our detergents and fabric conditioner so that you don’t have to compromise on either. We want to know your tips for great smelling clothes!”

Do you have a way of storing your clothes that means they don’t pick up nasty odours between wash and wear? Maybe your family has a laundry routine that prevents clothes from ever reaching a smelly stage? Perhaps you have a favourite product that’s become your family’s signature clothing scent?

Whatever tips for making sure clothes smell great, share them on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Drying washing on the line as much as possible and mini dehumidifier in the wardrobe with lavender bags.

bevmichelle47 · 28/05/2018 11:00

Let them dry naturally, i find if you put them in the tumble dryer, the smell goes.

As a rule I have little bags of lavender, that I make myself. Every two to three years I renew the herbs inside the bags. I don't like when the smell is too strong so I don't really abuse it, just a light whiff will do. after all the clothes inside the drawers are clean.

Dry clothes outside

voyager50 · 28/05/2018 11:29

I don't have the luxury of being able to line dry so i just use lovely scented fabric conditioners

happysouls · 28/05/2018 11:31

Really good washing powder and conditioner, drying things quickly rather than them being damp too long!

BeeFarseer · 28/05/2018 11:33

Line drying makes clothes smell fresher than anything else!

Keeping the washing machine clean is a must. I do a regular service wash at 90°, and occasionally do a hotter wash than normal, just to keep everything inside the machine clean. Leaving the dispenser drawer open helps to prevent mildew too.

I also keep soap in clothes drawers. It's what my nan does, and it helps to keep everything smelling lovely.

Outside drying all the way!

iut044 · 28/05/2018 11:50

Line drying works great

Dizzywizz · 28/05/2018 11:50

I love fairy non bio as I love the smell! I think line drying and putting away quickly is the best way

sezz35 · 28/05/2018 12:03

keep washing machine clean

glennamy · 28/05/2018 12:09

Keep washing machine clean and air dried! :)

Funkyferret · 28/05/2018 12:15

Definitely line drying but even if you haven't got access to an outside space, putting the airer beside an open window on a breezy day makes a difference. Also, if I dry indoors, I give clothes an extra spin before hanging so they dry quickly and don't end up smelling stale or absorbing household odours like cooking smells.

I love lavender and chamomile fabric conditioner and line drying is always best. I’ve also discovered something which keeps my clothes fresh each day and helps with my hay fever, I use Avon Planet Spa Lavender and Chamomile Pillow Mist spray around the neckline of my tops and it’s really helped stop my eyes nose and throat itching and burning as well as smelling lovely

soozybee1 · 28/05/2018 12:29

Definitely line dry where possible

swanlady2000 · 28/05/2018 12:34

I tumble dry everything...sooo if you soak a dish cloth in pure fabric conditioner and let it dry, then bung it in the dryer with every wash load it releases conditioner and the clothes are lovely and soft and smell lovely! These home made dryer sheets will last about 30 loads!

Helsbells68 · 28/05/2018 13:16

Line drying really makes a difference

PickAChew · 28/05/2018 13:25

I do my best to make sure things dry as quickly as possible, either with a dryer, hanging to dry, or a combination.

I find that no amount of perfume in my laundry can compensate for clothes that have gone a bit fusty.

Keeping my machine clean helps. I mostly use powder, wash towels at 60 and do the occasional empty 90C maintenance wash.

boobybirdsworth · 28/05/2018 13:26

Fabric conditioner and drying outside, they smell so fresh when they're dry. If it's towels, drying outside until they are a little damp then putting them in the dryer for the last five minutes makes a huge difference, they come out soft and smelling gorgeous :)

meepmoop79 · 28/05/2018 13:34

Unless the weather is good, then most of our drying is done in the tumble dryer. We have found that a good fabric conditioner, and tumble dryer sheets work well together.

Emmax12 · 28/05/2018 13:45

We don't have a tumble drier so we either line dry or dry inside. Line drying is so much nicer!

glenka · 28/05/2018 13:50

always use a nice strong smelling fabric conditioner is a good way to keep clothes nice and fresh

sarah861421 · 28/05/2018 14:36

make sure that things are 110% dry before they go away, tried to save time in the past by putting things away slighty "cold" but not a good idea

lynsmagoo · 28/05/2018 15:11

i actually use fairy non bio and a fabric softener but i normally use some lenor unstoppable as im allergic to everything it seems to work fine and clothes smell lovely!

MSHGW · 28/05/2018 15:13

Use fabric conditioner, and tumble dryer sheets.
