NOW CLOSED

It can be difficult to ensure that clothes always smell good - especially if you have messy toddlers or teenagers that leave P.E kit in bags for weeks. Fairy Non Bio would like you to share your tips for making sure your clothes smell great.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “At Fairy Non Bio, we know that even if you have very sensitive skin, you still want that freshly washed smell on your clothes and fabrics. We have perfected our formula on our detergents and fabric conditioner so that you don’t have to compromise on either. We want to know your tips for great smelling clothes!”

Do you have a way of storing your clothes that means they don’t pick up nasty odours between wash and wear? Maybe your family has a laundry routine that prevents clothes from ever reaching a smelly stage? Perhaps you have a favourite product that’s become your family’s signature clothing scent?

Whatever tips for making sure clothes smell great, share them on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Line drying is a must

footdust · 28/05/2018 08:48

Keep your washing machine clean - most fusty/damp smells start there

wonderstuff16 · 28/05/2018 08:52

Hang them outside in the fresh air

lovemyflipflops · 28/05/2018 08:53

A bar of soap at the bottom of each drawer keeps underwear and socks smelling great, and in my sheets a tumble dryer sheet in the linen cupboard.

jacqui5366 · 28/05/2018 09:00

I line dry and use vacuum bags (it does not take as long as you think) it takes up less space in your linen cupboard, and is particularly good for winter clothes as you don't need to worry about dust and damp smelling clothes.

kittykomp · 28/05/2018 09:06

lots of fabric conditioner

sheilads105 · 28/05/2018 09:07

Line dry whenever possible.

AngelwingsPetlamb · 28/05/2018 09:10

Dry your washing on the line and if you can’t then make certain your washing is dried quickly and thoroughly to prevent that musty smell arising.
Put clothes away in drawers or wardrobes rather than leaving stacked up in a pile, and keep them away from the kitchen area where they can collect cooking smells.
Wash at the correct temperature and wash as soon as you can after deciding an item is dirty.

Line drying!

maureen3733 · 28/05/2018 09:20

i always use fabric conditioner

janeyf1 · 28/05/2018 09:23

I use scented comfort in my wash and when dry the clothes smell great until they are washed again

slingboi · 28/05/2018 09:29

I ensure to add conditioner when I wash the clothes but one word of warning is that tumble drying on too hot a temperature can remove some of that fresh scent from the clothes.

maryandbuzz1 · 28/05/2018 09:34

I always use a scented washing powder and conditioner which helps but essentially I believe drying clothes on the line outside works wonders and means they come in smelling fresh and clean.
I have tried using scented lining paper in drawers but unfortunately this does not last long.

Good fabric softener

SSCRASE123 · 28/05/2018 09:46

Outside drying for sure and keeping my clothes rotated so they don't sit in drawers for months getting stale.

Elizasmum02 · 28/05/2018 09:52

take care of your washing machine! i also try to make sure i dry clothes outside

hiddenmichelle · 28/05/2018 10:05

Dry them outside on the line - always smell so much better. If it has be inside, I still like bounce in the tumble dryer.

AR2012 · 28/05/2018 10:14

line dried and lavender sachets in the draws

KJ1986UK · 28/05/2018 10:17

Ensure clothes are washed after every wear (even if they seem alright) and allow them to dry naturally on the washing line whenever weather permits.

Katieraventimeout · 28/05/2018 10:19

Never leave it in the machine overnight

rutsan · 28/05/2018 10:36

I use Lenor Unstoppables Fresh In-Wash Scent Booster Beads, and also keep the washing machine clean.

devito92 · 28/05/2018 10:36

Always try to dry clothes on the line outside and use a dehumidifer in the winter months which has an ioniser function

NoStraightEdges · 28/05/2018 10:37

Fairy Non Bio and blue lenor gets the best smelling washing ever. The blocks of fairy are the best too, because even when I wash towels with no fabric conditioner they smell amazing!

gd2011 · 28/05/2018 10:48

A few drops of essential oil e.g. lavender in the conditioner compartment of the washing machine.

beckyinman · 28/05/2018 10:49

Lavender pouches in the drawers made out of old tights!
