Doing the laundry can be a messy task - whether that’s getting rid of your children’s unexplained stains or dealing with the piles and piles of clean clothes when you’re done. Who would blame you for dreaming about the kind of space that could make it all seem a bit more manageable. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about what would be in your dream laundry room.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry? That’s a lot of pulling tissues out of pockets, separating loads and pairing socks! Imagine that you had your own separate laundry room. What would you want to make your life easier and nicer to spend time in?”

Would you have a separate washer and dryer? Or shelves for each family member’s clothes? Perhaps you’d have a fold down ironing board? Maybe you’d have everything - from appliances to airers - hidden away in cupboards?

Whatever would be in your dream laundry room, share it below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

It would be bright airy & warm.
There would be a tv in it to not make the ironing seem such a chore.
4 washing baskets for darks/coloureds/ whites theñ to put in dry folded clothes.
To have the washer dryer & ironing all in same room would be fab
Cupboards to put in all detergents conditioner stain removers we go through.

I use to have an ironing board that folded into a drawer - it was amazing but I lost this when I moved and do miss it - I also would love an electric airer/dryer in the laundry room

arat · 13/03/2018 19:09

A machine/robot that does the sorting, drying, ironing and folding up. If I had this then I suppose I could put up with putting the washing away!

sezz35 · 13/03/2018 19:11

A person to do my laundry

73kittycat73 · 13/03/2018 19:15

I'd have a separate, top of the range (Energy efficient, etc.) tumble dryer and washing machine with loads of different wash options. I'd have a couple of laundry baskets, one for lights and one for darker colours. I'd have a shelf with all my laundry aids on like washing capsules, conditioner, in wash scent boosters. I'd have worktop space to put clean folded clothes onto, and lastly, a small iron and ironing board (I haven't used an iron in years! Grin ).

madge47 · 13/03/2018 19:24

A tumble dryer I dont have one.

hanarees · 13/03/2018 19:27

I would love a room that I could use as a laundry room and walk in wardrobe too - would save so much time!

jcyclops · 13/03/2018 19:52

If I can't have a chute to the underground free laundry, then I would need to have a washing machine and two tumble dryers so I could tumble a full wash load in one go. I would definitely have one of those fancy ironing dummies where you put the item on it and it blows steam, hot air and then cold air into it from the inside.

APJ1 · 13/03/2018 20:03

An indoor airer which pulls down from the ceiling.

RhubarbAndCustards · 13/03/2018 20:06

Two washing machine and two dryers - one for dog blankets and one for humans! Lots of space to put washing - dirty and clean. And a fairy to do it all for me Smile

gd2011 · 13/03/2018 20:11

Washer, drier and house robot to do all the work

alsproject · 13/03/2018 20:12

someone to do all the laundry for us

ILikeBigBumpsAndICannotLie · 13/03/2018 20:13

It would be inside the house for starters, a counter for folding and Drying racks that fold flat to the wall, a dehumidifier and a big fan to simulate air drying in the winter.

Rachdayan · 13/03/2018 20:20

Some highend machinary, lots of glossy cupboards and worktop space and someone to fold and iron it all for me!

freefan · 13/03/2018 20:21

Oh wow where would I start, an industrial size washing machine, and ironing machine and plenty of cupboard space to store my power and softner and keep everything tidy

Lheath · 13/03/2018 20:27

I'd love a laundry room with a separate washer and dryer, a sink, cupboards to put all the products in, built in laundry bins (one for whites and one for darks) and enough space to dry clothes in the winter.

Cheekyandfreaky · 13/03/2018 20:29

Right:

  • a washing machine that is reliable and that can handle large loads
  • a dryer, we have a condenser one which I really like but I would take anything better!
  • seperate laundry baskets for colours/whites/ delicates
  • 2 basketsfor dry clean clothes- 1 for ironing and 1 for clothes that can go straight to rooms
  • an ironing board and iron
  • a radio and docking station
  • a space for all of my laundry products
  • an extractor fan
  • ideally not by the kitchen so food smells are avoided

Please can someone wave their magic wand for me?!

cathwarbur · 13/03/2018 20:30

I would like a bespoke laundry room, with a decent washing machine, dryer and plenty of shelves for each of the family. A stemer for clothing and a pull down ironing board. Units to store diffent types of dirty washing so they are ready to pop into the 2 or 3 washing machines I have. An area foe drying as well

ApocalypseNowt · 13/03/2018 20:31

A washer and a dryer. Big ones.

A wide shelf so I'd have room to sort everything properly.

A little comfy chair in the corner and a lock on the door so I can hide and read my kindle in peace.

cocochips · 13/03/2018 20:33

Lots of space, a washing machine, a tumble drier

clopper · 13/03/2018 20:34

I’d have an industrial sized washing machine, a tumble dryer, a fancy steam iron maybe a cordless one, lots of racks to hang things on and plenty of shelves with fancy wicker baskets and a retractable inside line.

Kennylou12 · 13/03/2018 20:53

My dream laundry room would be painted purple with a black washing machine and tumble dryer and a TV built into the wall so I could catch up on my shows while ironing. It would always be the perfect temperature too, not too hot, not too cold!

MrsFrTedCrilly · 13/03/2018 20:58

I would like this and I would like all the the members of my family to take age appropriate responsibility for their laundry without constant remindersHmm

A maid in my dream laundry room to do all my washing! Back to reality - the latest gadgets to make life easier, storage space and skin friendly detergents as I've got sensitive skin.

Ikea1234 · 13/03/2018 21:12

Chutes from each bedroom down into the laundry room, where there is enough room to hold washing machine, tumble dryer, and ironing board and steam generator iron. It would also have an annex attached, for the staff member that would do all the washing and ironing!

I can dream....
