Doing the laundry can be a messy task - whether that’s getting rid of your children’s unexplained stains or dealing with the piles and piles of clean clothes when you’re done. Who would blame you for dreaming about the kind of space that could make it all seem a bit more manageable. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about what would be in your dream laundry room.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry? That’s a lot of pulling tissues out of pockets, separating loads and pairing socks! Imagine that you had your own separate laundry room. What would you want to make your life easier and nicer to spend time in?”

Would you have a separate washer and dryer? Or shelves for each family member’s clothes? Perhaps you’d have a fold down ironing board? Maybe you’d have everything - from appliances to airers - hidden away in cupboards?

Whatever would be in your dream laundry room, share it below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

my dream laundry room would be light and bright, with a washing machine with big enough capacity to cope with the duvets, a dryer, also a place for drying clothes which need special care... shelves and countertop to keep, handle and fold clothes, cupboard for all of the washing essentials, from pegs to washing liquid, and a drawer for socks still looking for their other half...

a laundry chute from each room into hidden cupboards whereupon the maid will do the laundry.

there will be top loading machines - like americans have - i don know why we insist on front loaders here. and an ironing board that comes out of the cupboard.

but mostly the maid will hang the clothes n the wardrobe because i HATE doing that

My ideal laundry room would have a wall of built in cupboards with sliding doors, behind which would be the appliances, a drying cupboard for delicates, baskets for clean and dirty laundry laundry (not in same cupboard!) and space for all cleaning materials and equipment. In the middle of the room there'd be a folding table. It's be light and airy with a window onto the garden and small flat screen TV to help get me through the ironing and folding for a family of 6! A bonus would be a laundry chute that allows people to put dirty laundry in from upstairs and have it Land in the basket in the laundry room!

storage lots and lots of storage

Jeffingandeffing · 25/03/2018 20:17

A laundry room would be amazing. At the moment our washing machine and tumble dryer are crammed into a corner of the kitchen - they are incredibly noisy and I'm always tripping over piles of clothes waiting to be washed. A huge laundry room with a large airer and a professional steam ironing machine like they have in clothes shops would be great.

The perfect thing in my laundry room would be a housekeeper to do the laundry!

It’s set out quite well in mine, dryer next to washer. I have worktop over both machines so you can put stuff on top of them. It’s very narrow though.

I would love to have a room just for laundry. It would be clean and tidy and smell like a fluffy cloud (clean/fresh linen) there would definitely not be powder & conditioner sloshed everywhere and it would have hidden washing machine/tumble dryer and space to sort clothes when dry. It would also be manned by staff who take care of all laundry duties 😁

GetKnitted · 25/03/2018 22:29

perfect laundry room would have auto sort function and bring down the clothes from all the bedrooms too!

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 09:48

A Miele washing machine and a tumble drier. Lovely, stylish washing baskets and a glorious smell of clean washing. Would want a bose speaker in there so I could listen to music whilst sorting the washing.

dilydaly · 26/03/2018 14:07

I'd love a pull down ironing board, attached to the wall so it saves on space. I'd love a built in wardrobe system so that I can hide away all the things I wouldn't want on display, like my softeners etc. I'd also love some nice shelves to put some decorations, I know it's just the laundry room but since I seem to spend half my life in there it would be nice for the room to be pretty! Thanks :)

Someone to do the laundry and ironing for me?!

But seriously, lots of space, multiple washing baskets to sort colours from whites etc, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board and cupboards with a keypad entry so I can keep all the detergents etc safely away from the kids.

tubbyj · 27/03/2018 10:48

enough space for seperate washer and dryed and ironing board along with a sink.

HelenSw4les · 27/03/2018 15:38

If I could choose one thing it would be a very large room with some sort of where I could dry our washing indoors with the outside air, this would result in all my washing having that line dried smell which is just the best thing ever. Getting into bed with clean bedding that has been dried outside is one of my most favourite things; unfortunately that's not possible often enough here in Yorkshire.

mynellie · 28/03/2018 13:04

i would love someone to do it for meGrin but if i have to do it i would love a larger capacity washing machine and condenser tumble dryer and maybe a heated drying rack
Then a decent steam iron instead of the one i can afford and a tall ironing board as they all seem too small plus hangers that have grip on them so stuff doesn't keep sliding back off

katieskatie82 · 28/03/2018 13:41

i'd quite liked 2 washing machines, 2 driers and a robot to do all the ironing!!!

angiehoggett · 28/03/2018 18:28

I would love to have a laundry room, it would free up room in my kitchen and give me a utility space to have a seperate washer and tumble dryer.

rejcomp · 29/03/2018 04:01

Dream laundry room? Easy, hotel room/laundry service :D

Tkw2014 · 29/03/2018 21:52

My dream laundry room would be upstairs, so I don't keep having to carry basket fulls of dirty clothing down, and clean clothes back up again! Storage for bedding/towels too. Washer, dryer, ironing board, airer all in one room on the same level as the wardrobes the clothes will end up in!

ellie17 · 29/03/2018 22:08

a robot that can iron well lol

hollyjacko1 · 30/03/2018 02:52

Two washing machines and Two tumble dryers

Chimbo · 30/03/2018 13:56

My dream laundry room would have one of these dryers on the ceiling because It's up out the way and I'm saving money every time I use it, which is great for my family.

I would like a nice big room with a clothes airer, lots of shelving, space for the laundry baskets and ironing equipment.

thisone2 · 30/03/2018 14:43

A maid.

painttheworld · 30/03/2018 20:04

i long for a laundry room, with wooden drying racks, beautiful shelves and baskets for everyone's clean and dirty clothes.

i would go for 2 washing machines and 1 dryer. a pulldown ironing board, lovely big windows, a long clutter free counter.....

i have put a lot of thought into this..one day...

ustupidwoman · 30/03/2018 21:02

I would have a team of cleaners in my dream laundry room - who would collect dirty clothes, wash iron and pack everything away afterwards where it should be!! But alas... I'm a one man band!!
