Doing the laundry can be a messy task - whether that’s getting rid of your children’s unexplained stains or dealing with the piles and piles of clean clothes when you’re done. Who would blame you for dreaming about the kind of space that could make it all seem a bit more manageable. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about what would be in your dream laundry room.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry? That’s a lot of pulling tissues out of pockets, separating loads and pairing socks! Imagine that you had your own separate laundry room. What would you want to make your life easier and nicer to spend time in?”

Would you have a separate washer and dryer? Or shelves for each family member’s clothes? Perhaps you’d have a fold down ironing board? Maybe you’d have everything - from appliances to airers - hidden away in cupboards?

Whatever would be in your dream laundry room, share it below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

A Laundry room, I don't even have my own bedroom lol. We're a family of six in a 2 bed home so, our own laundry room would be amazing!

But anyways, I think it would be so much nicer to have somewhere to keep the kids washing, I only have a weeny kitchen which is where my washing basket lives, to have somewhere to store clothes, fold them and keep them that isn't on my kitchen floor, would be a dream! I would have my wee radio in there too, and it would always small of Fairy, which has to be the best stuff to wash your clothes in for my lot, as its so gentle on the skin, and smells blooming lovely! So to sum up, my laundry room would have my little washing machine, my 22 yr old tumble drier, and my radio, and I would be happy as larry!

My ideal laundry room would contain plenty of space, for sorting drying and storing all our laundry

Ratbagcatbag · 21/03/2018 19:11

If I can't have a young handsome guy in my laundry room taking care of everything (ahem) then more seriously:

A washer and a dryer next to each other (and the dryer vented outside to prevent the build up of condensation inside). Separate neatly lined baskets so colours are all pre-sorted.
Space for my iron, ironing board, tumble dryer sheets, wash basket, fabric conditioner and washing up tablets.

And a lowerable nice rack from the ceiling so my none dryer items can all be hung together and hoisted out of the way rather than spreading around radiators throughout the house.

Finally a nice workspace/bench top, so I can fold everything immediately once it's all finished drying.

I would have a washing machine and dryer in a space I could close off and sound proof. Ironing board with baskets for each person in the house and a hanging rail. Tv on the wall.

SuzCG · 21/03/2018 20:14

I'd love a cupboard in which to hide the ironing fairy when she's not busy doing the copious amounts of it, constantly spilling over the top of my ironing baskets...
A room big enough to house the washer/dryer and put the ironing baskets & board would be nice too instead of the washer being in the tiny utility (along with the dogs food & water bowls) , the dryer in the garage and the ironing board & baskets being by the back door!

wheretoyougonow · 21/03/2018 20:15

I would have two washing machines, I'm easily pleased!
I would also like an ironing board that is permanently up, in a room that only I can access so I can watch my own trashy tv whilst I iron. Bliss Grin

ichifanny · 21/03/2018 20:17

I’d have the usual washing machine and tumble drier but I’d also love one of the pulley system driers , I’m quite taken by people who have storage tubs stacked for each member of he family to organise clean laundry into . One can but dream , my tumble drier is currently crammed in a tiny cupboard .

Nicole1709 · 21/03/2018 20:19

I would have a tumble dryer as well as a machine. There is never enough space to hang everything out to dry.

bourbonbiccy · 21/03/2018 20:31

If i had space for a laundry room, I would like a little ,Fairy non bio, fairy to actually do all my laundry. Failing that I would like it to be well stocked with choccy biscuits, everything hidden within glossy cupboards and something to whizz them upstairs and hang them up for me.

RiSo · 21/03/2018 21:18

We have 3 boys so generate a lot of washing. My dream room would have a washing machine and tumble drier, obviously, and also a permanent ironing board set up. More importantly, room to dry clothes inside with this beautiful British weather! I hate using the tumble drier so like to line dry where possible, but when it is raining outside (or snowing) I have to rely on the tumble drier and indoor airers, both of which are terrible for causing damp. So would love a special room where an airer and indoor line could be in place with plenty of ventilation. Oh and maybe a comfy armchair and a kettle so that I can have a cup of tea in peace!

RubaDubMum89 · 21/03/2018 21:18

Oh my! My dream laundry room would be a dedicated room, accessible through a door in the kitchen with (but not limited to!) : an A+ 9kg washing machine with a 1600 spin, an A+ 9kg condenser dryer, an ironing board with a build in clothes rail to hang all the applicable items on, large wooden baskets creatively labeled for the respective family members 'draw' clothes, a steam station iron, a stand alone sink unit with a draining board and a cupboard underneath for stain removal accessories, ironing water and detergents, a wooden clothes rail attached to the ceiling that can be raised / lowered on a pulley and finally, a bose dab radio and CD player with an aux cable attachment.

Not asking too much is it? 😂

GruffaloPants · 21/03/2018 21:27

A willing servant to do it all...

Also about 5 machines so that I'd never need to have a backlog.

sbruin1122 · 21/03/2018 22:17

a robot that does it all for you!

nemno · 21/03/2018 22:22

I finally do have my dream laundry room. WM and TD raised up off the floor, Sheila Maid airer, extractor fan , dehumidifier, hanging area, large sink and worktop, storage, open area and ironing board. It's brilliant, shame i didn't have it when the children were small.

biffyboom · 21/03/2018 22:52

More baskets to separate wash loads easier.

flumpybear · 22/03/2018 06:09

I'd have a separate washing machine and tumble dryer. I'd have shelves and hanging space, set up ironing area, sink and a few cupboards to store all the products

My house is constantly busy as my husband and I have busy jobs, I loathe having to take clothes and put them away so essentially my dream laundry room would house all the weekly work clothes, school uniforms etc and only occasional or weekend clothes would make it to the bedrooms for storage

Oh .... did I mention that my husband does most of the laundry too Wink

alibubbles · 22/03/2018 06:56

I have a laundry room, but it could be a a lot bigger as it becomes a dumping room. I realised yesterday that I was born not to iron as I wanted to wear a new blouse but it really needing ironing first, but I couldn't work out how to unfold the ironing board, so instead of sending it to the laundry with DH's shirts and waiting a week for it to come back, a permanent fixed ironing board that is rock solid still, and an iron set up for instant use would be very useful for the once a year time that I need to iron!

NewNameADayKeepsSpiesAway · 22/03/2018 10:25

I’d have 2 laundry rooms (is that greedy? Blush) one downstairs with a separate washer and dryer plus lots of surface space, floor space for 2 big clothes horse airers, and a sink with large draining board to do the inevitable stain removal treatments. I’d have a basket for each family member so I could sort easily and an extra basket for ironing. There would also be a door to the garden so that muddy kids could come in that way and dirty stuff not be traipsed through the house. And I’d have beautiful storage baskets for my pegs and cleaning supplies so that they could live on surface tops but look pretty. There would be a door to a connecting boot & coat room with shelves, pegs and lots of cubbies for each pair of shoes with a section for each family member.

Then, from the downstairs laundry I’d have a dumb waiter type lift that went up to my second laundry room which would have an ironing table and another sink for filling the steam part of the iron. Plus cupboards to hide baskets when not in use. All clean laundry sent up in the lift so that I never again a) bash my knuckles on door frames carrying the wide basket b) knock paintwork with the basket c) tread on something the dc have left lying round that I can’t see whilst carrying the basket d) put my back out hefting heavy laundry baskets. I might also have a chute leading from upper to lower laundry rooms in the hope that the dc would find the novelty factor of dropping down their dirties might actually make them put used items in the wash.

Oh man I wish this was a reality and not an impossible daydream Grin

Cotswoldmama · 22/03/2018 11:37

The dream would be a huge washing machine and drier like you find in a launderette. Then I could get away with not having a load in everyday! I also love those old airers on pulleys that you can hang your washing room the ceiling. But to just have a laundry room at all would be amazing our washing machine is in our tiny kitchen

Beeziekn33ze · 22/03/2018 11:43

Racks to dry washing. Permanent ironing table ‘cos my ironing board is bigger than me and out to get me! Steamer that’s not too heavy to lift

SaffyMcDonut · 22/03/2018 12:06

A pool table and bar stocked full of beer for the man I will recruit to do it for me.

Wtf Fairy - sexist, much? Has Fairy taken a step back into the 1950s?

user1485629191 · 22/03/2018 15:07

somebody who does all the laundry for me!

starlight36 · 22/03/2018 16:27

Separate washing machine and tumble dryer. A unit full of all of the powders, liquids and drain removers. Shelves for each family member and a rail for shirts / dresses. Space to keep an ironing board and a TV / stereo to be entertained whilst I'm ironing. Most importantly a window so I can have some fresh air.

Pumpkintopf · 22/03/2018 16:32

I'd love a laundry room big enough to leave the ironing board set up in, and with worktop space for folding into a basket for each family member.

Sixgeese · 22/03/2018 17:37

I have a laundry room with a Separate washer and dryer, shelves to separate everyone's clothes would be wonderful, coat and shoe racks and somewhere to separate the millions of odd socks by person or colour so we can find their missing pair.
