A good night's sleep is something many of us long to have, and would go to great lengths to get. That’s why Dreams would like to know your top tips and successful methods for getting a great night’s sleep, whether that’s perfecting the temperature in your bedroom or a never fail tactic to keep children in their rooms.

Do you have a routine that helps you to relax before bed so that you drift off easily - a relaxing bath or a no-phones period? Perhaps you have arranged your bedding so that it’s comfortable for both you and your partner? Maybe ear plugs have revolutionised your sleep or you meditate before bed to stop you overthinking and worrying about things? Do you avoid certain things like coffee or eating late at night or maybe you have a particular hot drink or music to listen to that works a treat?

No screens for at least 45 minutes before bed and I brush my teeth about at hour before bed because for some reason mint wakes me up!

An electric blanket! I got one recently and getting into a nice warm bed makes such a difference. In the cold weather it would take a while to warm up and get my feet warm.

We are currently trying to choose a new bed and the most important thing for us to get a good nights sleep is a comfortable mattress. We also put a mattress topper on and it is bliss

I don't have caffeine after 6pm. I eat light dinner at night. At bedtime, I meditate and stretch my muscles. I get into bed and read.

Gets kids sleeping in their own rooms and use lavender spray on bedding, works a treat

If I'm not dropping off, which is quite common for me, I will get up and just sit quietly on the sofa in low light, no radio or screens. Somehow, being in an "awake" situation lulls me into a sense of sleepiness. Also, as has been mentioned. a cold room works so much better for me. My husband is used to houses heated from top to bottom 24-7 whereas I'm more used to heating on when needed so it's a bit of a bone of contention!

Put a couple of drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow. It smells incredible and helps you to relax and fall asleep.

Balance between bit of exercise & as found out from dancing & caffeine not good too late. Less tv, films etc. Bath & candles. Low lighting. Quiet & dark. Meditation music/sleep music on you tube.

I make sure my kiddies have a drink, go to the toilet. Then a story, chat and cuddle. My son likes a nightlight. We don't have electricals after 6pm. I think a bath and comfy pj's helps. We only have the heating on low in the bedrooms so they aren't too hot.

Dark room, no noise, warm feet and thick duvet, no one snoring, farting or even breathing nearby.

Never had a problem with sleep in our house largely due to decent beds and mattresses , so long as ...

Central heating off before bed ;

Kids off their phones/laptops, harder as they get older.

A gentle push ( sometimes bit of dig) so other half automatically sleeps on front, which generally stops bear snores.

The 3 B's!!! Bath, Book & Bed!!
I try to do this a few times a week. Clean fresh sheets and the window open slightly is good too!!

A cold, dark, quiet room. We open the bedroom windows for an hour before going to bed to cool the room, even in winter.

My DH likes a dark room, I prefer the door slightly ajar for a little light and so I can hear the dc. He sleeps furthest from the door with his back to it. I usually cuddle up behind him till he's asleep then roll over to face the door and keep an hear out for the dc .. i just can't get to sleep any other way

Hot milk with cinnamon, fresh clean crisp heavy cotton bedding, a cool room (to deal with the luscious heavy cotton bedding Grin) and a session of Wink with DH helps me drift off easily

I must have warm feet and hands otherwise I won't drift off (even in the summer)!

Leave enough time for a hot bath with lovely smelling bubbles, then a good book in bed for half an hour or so before lights out. Good quality bedding makes all the difference.

I swear by white noise for my baby it’s helped him since birth block out everyday sound. We make bed an exciting place to go to and hype up how lucky the children are to go to bed soon! Definitely no mobiles or electronic devices in room and I also find lavender oil great to switch off

I always go for a walk/slow jog around 6 whilst hubby stays at home. I take put in my headphones and let the stress of the day float away. When I come home I am refreshed for the evening routine and fall quickly into a deep sleep. If weather means I cant go for a walk it's 30 minutes on the exercise cycle, a shower .

Over the years I have really struggled with insomnia. I still don't sleep brilliantly, but here are some of my top tips.
Room must be totally dark, so we have blackout curtains.
I spray the pillows with lavender spray and have a lavender scented balm that I rub on my pulse points.
I can't sleep in total silence, so I need the white noise of an electric fan - which has the added bonus of keeping the room nice and cool.
And no phones, laptop or TV allowed in the bedroom! I read a book before I turn out the light.

Lavender bath oil and the ‘Lush’ sleepy cream which is lavender based both work a treat. Other than that, ensuring that rooms are tidy, low lighting when winding down and no screens.
