This activity is now closed

Valentines Day and Mother’s Day are on the horizon and whether you celebrate them or not, it can be a great time to share your love and gratitude to friends, family members and/or partners. With that in mind, Card Factory would love you to visit their website here and pick out your favourite items, whether that’s cards, gifts, flowers or balloons and post them on the thread.

Here’s what Card Factory have to say: “Giving a gift can make any occasion even more special and at Card Factory, you can find something they’ll love from just £1.99. We’ve got fantastic high street and personalised gifts available, as well as more unusual presents like balloon bouquets. Whatever the celebration, you’re bound to find something perfect.”

As well as posting your favourite items from Card Factory, we would also love you to share your gift giving tips. Do you always ensure either the card or gift is personalised to make it that extra bit special? Do you prefer to surprise them with a gift you think they’ll love or ask them exactly what they want? Or maybe you always ensure the wrapping is set to impress.

Whatever your favourite gifts and gift giving tips are, share them on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher voucher of their choice (from a list). PLUS 5 MNers will win the item they’ve picked from Card factory!

Thanks and good luck!

This is my favourite. I'm glad I did this. It has been a bit of a revelation and I'll definitely b shopping here again. My children love saving up their pocket money and then making something personalised so they'd love this!

I have a few of the shabby chic style wall plaques. I think they're lovely.

I never knew you could create your own card, and from 99p which is much cheaper than others offering the same service Shock

I like the personalised notepad, www.cardfactory.co.uk/gift/personalised-notebook-pink-and-white-pattern.htm they are fun and everybody know who they belong to, so nobody pinches them! They make a great, reasonably priced gifts for any ages.

I like to plan ahead, so I buy all my greetings cards 2 months at a time, this way they are all ready for the occasions and ready for posting. This way saves time and money as it's a lot cheaper to buy in bulk at The Card Factory rather then running out and having to go to the local shop where cards are a lot more expensive to buy.

I love the children's balloons and the fact that you can inflate them and the photo upload mugs, we always buy cards from Card Factory.

DH and I always write in each other's birthday cards lots of things we are grateful for that the other one has done in the past year. Makes a card so worth keeping!

I like these jars of strawberry bonbons

www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/personalised-happy-valentines-strawberry-bonbons.htm

They remind me of my youth.

My gift giving tip is to make lists. I note stuff down as the family mention them so I always have ideas to draw on of what they'd like.

I love the personalised guitar plectrum. It is the perfect gift for dh!
We surprise each other with a small token on valentines day and anniverseries, so that we can go crazy on birthdays and Christmas.
I love how much choice there is for a limited budget!

My dcs got me a small plaque about mums being the heart of the home from card Factory. Which is very special to me as I worry about being a good mum. We always get our cards and Christmas teddies from card Factory as they are good designs and good value for money.

I love the retro sweet hamper the most!
I think giving a gift along with a balloon and card all present beautifully makes it more personal and thoughtful.

I love giving (and receiving) personalised gifts, it shows you have made an extra effort. I make my dad a personalised calendar for every year and he loves it. www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/photo-upload-calendar.htm He rings me at the beginning of every month telling me how much he loves the photos i chose.

I have just created a photocard for DC's birthday. It was so easy, just select 4 photos via facebook, and upload and edit the text. Only £2.54 with postage for a medium size. Very cheap and DC will love it.

I like personalised cards, where you can add photos, for friends and family

I love the photo hurts you offer on the card factory website and I have to be honest and say I never realised you offered this service and i will definetly use it now. I love to wrap my presents to people and put ribbon around parcels and a pretty gift tag. I also love matching the paper to the person's personality as well as occasion.

Every year I buy my son a hugs bear for his stocking. He’s got a lovely collection of them now and any birthday card I get him also features the hugs bear so it makes it very special!
The quality of the bears are so good and he has a favourite that’s lasted a good few years now.

I love this personalised cheeseboard: www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/personalised-wooden-cheeseboard-set.htm. My gift-giving tip is using tissue paper as wrapping paper - always have some in the kids' crafting cupboard, useful as an emergency wrapping solution if/when we run out!

We try to do a bit of both when giving presents - match to the person and personalise/add to it ourselves. For Auntie who’s into pampering we have made easy lavender salt scrub in a decorated jar, chocolate ‘bark’ in decorated cellophane for chocoholic sister, a photo cushion with kids pics and handprints on for lorry-driver grandpa for when he’s working away! I think it’s special to choose something they’ll actually use but then personalise it :) we have given this to friends and went down well :)

I like this:

I tend to stock up on cards in my local card warehouse. They can be expensive in the supermarkets. But I love the idea of personalised ones.

I'm always impressed by the good value at Card Factory.

love the 'daily news' card www.cardfactory.co.uk/cards/photo-upload-birthday-card-daily-news.htm as i think its a fun one to receive and to give.

love the personalised section so much as it makes it all the more special.

I think in the days of email and facebook messages - people gift cards less often but i hope the tide turns as it is always more special to receive a card.

I like this photo upload Belgian chocs. Something simple and personal.
As for gifting, I think long and hard to find the right gift. I often think for too long though, and end up having to get something for a local store that isn't as special as I had intended.
Wrapping is important - it shows you want them to enjoy unwrapping the gift.

I can barely get my youngest past card factory most days as he loves the balloons in the window so much. I think this one would blow his tiny mind www.cardfactory.co.uk/gifts/paw-patrol-helium-airwalker-balloon.htm

My gift giving tip is to have a present cupboard/ drawer with a stack of cards and stockpile of little things which would work for any kids/ adults birthdays, plus then you buy things for particular people as you see the right gift and stick it in the cupboard, not just go scrabbling around the shops as the occasion approaches. Then you're more likely to get something to the important people in time, and surprise others with little gifts who might not be expecting anything. Most of gift giving is organisation.
