Valentines Day and Mother’s Day are on the horizon and whether you celebrate them or not, it can be a great time to share your love and gratitude to friends, family members and/or partners. With that in mind, Card Factory would love you to visit their website here and pick out your favourite items, whether that’s cards, gifts, flowers or balloons and post them on the thread.

Here’s what Card Factory have to say: “Giving a gift can make any occasion even more special and at Card Factory, you can find something they’ll love from just £1.99. We’ve got fantastic high street and personalised gifts available, as well as more unusual presents like balloon bouquets. Whatever the celebration, you’re bound to find something perfect.”

As well as posting your favourite items from Card Factory, we would also love you to share your gift giving tips. Do you always ensure either the card or gift is personalised to make it that extra bit special? Do you prefer to surprise them with a gift you think they’ll love or ask them exactly what they want? Or maybe you always ensure the wrapping is set to impress.

Whatever your favourite gifts and gift giving tips are, share them on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher voucher of their choice (from a list). PLUS 5 MNers will win the item they’ve picked from Card factory!

Thanks and good luck!

Always a good choice of reasonably priced cards and I also love the plaques that they sell.

hiddenmichelle · 19/02/2018 10:25

I love your balloons - they are not just for kids either - who doesn't like a lovely foil balloon?!

Ranita · 19/02/2018 10:49

Helium balloons and birthday badges, both from the Card Factory. I buy them every year for my boys' birthdays. They have to have a badge to wear if it falls on a school day!

meepmoop79 · 19/02/2018 10:54

I always get a card, but do tend to ask if there is anything specific that the other person wants. As opposed to buying a 'token' present wheich will just turn into a dust gatherer.
From the card factory website, i did like this:

I like the Personalised Antique-Style Trinket Box, it's so cute.

My gift giving advice is to shop in advance for gifts rather than waiting until the week before.

Flossiecrossie · 19/02/2018 11:05

I love the Photo Upload iPhone Plus Case. This would make a great gift for by husband and daughter both of whom have their birthdays next week.

For gift giving I like to give surprises. I think the most successful gifts have been trips away and experience days, as the memories from these are much longer lived than a lot of physical gifts.

moneypenny66 · 19/02/2018 11:07

I like this gift. I haven't seen anything like it before. A personalised usb stick that you can use to put photos and songs on that mean something to the person.

The personalised wooden cheeseboard is great as an anniversary gift.www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/personalised-wooden-cheeseboard-set.htm
I never send cash or vouchers but prefer to send an actual gift - especially for children who adore receiving parcels in the post!

helly27 · 19/02/2018 12:15

I like the fact you can still buy their wrapping paper by the single sheet and love the personalized cups and glasses there is one for all

holey · 19/02/2018 12:21

There are some lovely personalised items with photos that I love but I was also taken by this www.cardfactory.co.uk/gifts/mothers-day-gifts/sentiment-photo-frame-grandma.htm which is a Grandma photo frame with a lovely message that would be perfect from the DCs to my MIL. I find you can't go wrong with a personalised gift as it shows so much thought.

footdust · 19/02/2018 12:23

Love the personalised silver trinket box. www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/personalised-silver-plated-heart-trinket-box.htm

I think something personalised makes it extra special.

lizd31 · 19/02/2018 12:35

I love these personalised photo upload cushions www.cardfactory.co.uk/gifts/personalised-photo-upload-cushion.htm

I love these chocs in a personalised box: www.cardfactory.co.uk/gifts/personalised-belgian-chocolates-all-you-need-is-love.htm

socat · 19/02/2018 13:11

Vintage sweeties www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/personalised-vintage-sweets-retro-sweet-jar.htm so cool

I prefer to give an experience. Meal / night out (cinema / theatre) making it memorable than something that might be chucked out or put in the back of their cupboard!

sootyo · 19/02/2018 13:20

Giving a personalised gift like this :

southernsun · 19/02/2018 13:25

We get most of our cards in the Card Factory as its such great value. We like to put thought and effort into gifts as they mean more then. Hampers of homemade gifts and little things the recipient likes always go down well.

www.cardfactory.co.uk/gifts/happily-ever-after-cushion.htm

I love these for a wedding gift.

I like to try and make mental notes of things family/friends mention so I can buy it for their birthday- I don't always remember though!

rosie154 · 19/02/2018 13:27

I love these personalised pint glasses, they make such a great gift when a son reaches that milestone of growing up.

www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/personalised-established-badge-pint-glass.htm

I think the best gift giving tip is to buy it when you see it, rather than leaving things to the last minute and choosing something out of desperation.

ScreamingValenta · 19/02/2018 13:27

This one made me laugh - it would be perfect for one of my friends:

www.cardfactory.co.uk/cards/humour-birthday-card-horse.htm

I always give funny cards and like it when I find one that fits with the personality or hobby of the recipient.

RACHELSMITH45 · 19/02/2018 13:37

I usually ask for a few ideas so it's something they can use rather than recycle to someone else! Vouchers are always ideal for many! I do like to use posh gift wrap when wrapping, my sister has to help me with the ribbons though!!

sm2012 · 19/02/2018 13:38

I love Card Factory for birthday cards for parties my daughters are invited to as well as for small gifts like stocking fillers. I always buy their birthday balloons and banners from Card Factory too as it's such good value. I like the look of their inflated balloon bouquets especially this gold one www.cardfactory.co.uk/gifts/birthday-black-gold-balloon-bouquet.htm and as I've got such a sweet tooth this personalised retro sweet jar: www.cardfactory.co.uk/personalised/personalised-blue-swirls-retro-sweet-jar.htm

happysouls · 19/02/2018 13:43

I love the gift boxes! I think they're so lovely they'll be kept and used for something. I bought some gorgeous ones from Card Factory at Christmas and turned them into Christmas eve boxes for family.
