The team at NOW TV would love to hear which Christmas movie gets your family together and huddled around the TV with appropriately festive snacks Xmas Smile. Do you go for a classic, a new favourite, an animated flick or one which isn’t technically about Christmas but still reminds you of that time of year?

NOW TV say “With NOW TV, we have a host of family movies lined up for the festive period - from Frozen to The Polar Express and even the classic Sound of Music! Families can also enjoy newer movies like Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and The Lego Batman Movie - all from the comfort of their own front room!”

Whatever the preference in your house, add your most-loved Christmas movie below and why it's simply the best for you and yours, and you will be entered into a prize draw where one person will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

ptak5566 · 05/12/2017 19:53

Home Alone ... doesn't matter how many times my son and I watch it we still howl with laughter.

MikeAlphaMikeAlpha · 05/12/2017 20:16

We watch a lot of films together at this time if year but it has to be Home Alone 2 Star! We all love it (35, 32, 8 & 4)

fayesmummy · 05/12/2017 20:53

Elf every time. The 'for someone special' gift had my 7 year old in fits of giggles this weekend.

wef1984 · 05/12/2017 20:59

A Christmas Carol

Emmamaryd · 05/12/2017 21:10

Arthur Christmas. It is a feel good movie suitable for the whole family

omgitslani · 05/12/2017 21:11

We love Elf. It is funny and heart-warming and appeals to both the grownups and the little ones.

PhilTB54 · 05/12/2017 21:13

Elf for cheeriness. Bad Santa for Bah Humbug.

blue25 · 05/12/2017 21:23

Fred Claus. It always makes us feel Christmassy.

marshgirl · 05/12/2017 21:32

I love all Christmas films, family favourites are especially Elf, Home Alone and I saw mummy kissing Santa Claus. My guilty pleasure is watching all the cheesy films that never made it to the cinema, nothing better than fit up, quiet house, just my and a cheesy film.

molly57 · 05/12/2017 21:47

The Snowman

Catbot · 05/12/2017 22:05

"Merry Christmas ya filthy animal!"

It has to be Home Alone. We all have our favourite bits (but you can't beat Marv's scream when he sees the spider on his face GrinGrinGrin)

Flossie4 · 05/12/2017 22:05

Nativity 1. It brings the spirit of Christmas into the house and children and adults alike enjoy it. The songs are so lovely and at the end, at night, in the Cathedral ruins, well, the innocence of the children and the awe of the adults is beautiful. Nativity1 makes us all feel so Christmassy and despite seeing it at least six times I still need the tissues.

It’s a Wonderful Life.

I have to watch it every year amongst the shopping and stress to remind me what Christmas is really about!

hpsauce84 · 05/12/2017 22:29

We love Arthur Christmas!

humtum167 · 05/12/2017 22:32

Love actually, a sob for love storys !!

babyloi · 05/12/2017 22:37

The Muppet's Christmas Carol - It was my absolute favourite as a child and is still my favourite now as I cosy up with my little ones and watch them enjoy it as much as me. They find it hilarious that Mummy knows every word from start to finish ha ha!

Difficult to choose - so many films that we re-watch...

Home alone 1 or 2 always enjoyable - ds2 has managed to see them at least 3 times each on tv this year (not Christmas time!) and is begging me to get him the dvds for a christmas present... He sits there roaring with laughter and it's infectious - lovely to hear.

Muppet Christmas Carol, Nightmare before Christmas, Nativity 1 & 2 (hopefully we'll see 3 this year!), Elf, Arthur Christmas, The Snowman, the Snowman and Snowdog, Miracle on 34th Street - lots of familiar films that keep cropping up on everybody's lists - but for good reason - they're great!

Sound of Music and Mary Poppins both need to be seen at Christmas too, even though they're not really set at Christmas time, they've come to be associated with Christmas.

As outliers - there are a couple that spring to mind...

Rise of the Guardians - I wasn't keen on watching this tbh, judging the dvd by its cover! However, was soon converted - it wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be from the cover, and it's a great animated film, beautifully done graphics and a genuine adventure that's not saccharine sweet, There's also the Easter Bunny, Jack Frost, the Sandman and the Tooth Fairy involved... DC probably saw it when they were about 5 or 6 at the youngest, not sure I'd go much younger than that, not least because Santa is a grumpy old Russian St Nick rather than the coca cola all american Santa you usually find in films (but none the worse for that!).

The other one is Tom and Jerry's Nutcracker Tale. The Nutcracker is a very traditional Christmas tale - and the Tom and Jerry version is great - not least because it is mostly to the Tchaikovsky ballet music with very little talking in - so if the dc want a film on and you don't it works as a compromise... They get to hear nice music without realizing, and there are lots of very funny moments as only T&J do - plus it's the sort of film that you can dip in and out of without feeling you have missed out on too much (although it's nice to watch through too!). DC will usually put it on several times over christmas, often if they're playing a game but still want the tv on or because they want music on but can't agree on what to listen to. Definitely a dvd to have in the collection and use lots Grin

We all love Elf! My eldest particularly love the 'spaghetti' dish

bc1616 · 06/12/2017 00:16

We love Elf in our house, such a great Christmas movie

clarabella12 · 06/12/2017 00:58

we love Elf it makes me believe :)

lastkisstoo · 06/12/2017 00:59

The Grinch has become a staple in our house over the years. Now at the first sniff of the festive season approaching it is watched almost daily. We all know every word off by heart!

It's kind of our thing now though, and it is a comforting ritual that we all love, putting us in the mood for Christmas :)

diddiebiddie · 06/12/2017 01:31

I love It's a Wonderful Life it makes me laugh and cry no matter how many times I watch it

JayJay1874 · 06/12/2017 01:46

Everyone has 'their' image of who Santa is, usually inspired by a movie.

For Sarah - the Santa from Miracle on 34th St the remake will always be her real image of Santa.

For me it's the Santa from Santa Claus the movie.

We have to watch both of those every year.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 06/12/2017 01:53

It has to be miracle on 34th street for us,dds have watched it over and over already this year. It just makes me all warm and fuzzy, it reminds me of watching it as a child with dm.
