Christmas is just around the corner which for many means the present lists are out and shopping mode is on. Thinking of what special gifts to get for everyone can be quite a task, however good old homemade treats often spread Christmas joy the most. Cadbury would like to know your homemade gift ideas using chocolate.

Do you create little Christmas chocolate hampers or gift bags? Perhaps you bake a chocolate cake and use individual chocolates or crumbled Flake or Crunchie as decoration? Or maybe you melt your favourite Cadbury chocolate and turn it into lollipops or transform it into your own bespoke chocolate bark to hand out?

Whatever your homemade chocolate gift ideas, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We love making chocolate truffles rolled in cinnamon.

Ranita · 27/11/2017 09:50

Chocolate truffles or chocolate fudge. Usually both in this house.

Lariflete · 27/11/2017 10:00

The kids make Christmas pudding Krispy cakes (chocolate Krispy cakes with melted whites chocolate and Holly berry decorations on top made from icing).
I make triple chocolate brownies with icing sugar snow and footprints / Holly decorations. It has got to be Dairy Milk and Bournville for the chocolate, although the white chocolate isn't an issue.

Home made truffles are so easy to make but look fabulous in a gift box. Chocolate bark is another one which is easy to make and look fab but just make sure and temper the chocolate in the microwave first though as it doesn't look so good if it has a greyish tint.

I make homemade violet and rose creams, they always go down well with the older relatives.

I also make fudge and shape it into snowmen and bells and christmas trees. Sometimes I make chocolate fudge with smoked sea salt, that is always a popular flavour!

We make chocolate chip cookies, I always make a double bash and freeze half the dough for a quick treat!

Home made chocolate and hazelnut cookies are always welcomed as a gift. Also hot chocolate stirrers look lovely wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbon.

Bite size chocolate everything! Have to make at least double of everything so some can make it out of the house though. Usually viennesse biscuits dipped in different white milk and dark chocolate when in a hurry sprinkled with the christmas glitter colours.

Two Christmases ago I made chocolate bark from scratch - add in some pistachios, dried cranberries and coconut flakes and you have yourself something delicious!

Clear jar filled with giant buttons then I make a face on it, add some pipe cleaner antlers and give Rudolph jars to the kids

cheekychicken24 · 27/11/2017 21:16

I make my DFiL a jar of homemade Nutella (a Jamie Oliver recipe) every Christmas - I made him some the first time they came to us for Christmas, and I've done it every year since. I think he'd be outraged if I didn't do it now - although I'm not sure he appreciates the pretty bow I put on the jar!!

Chocolate covered shortbread always goes down a treat and is great for treating guests. And it doesnt have to be homemade shortbread so its easy for the kids to do and get involved.

Mallowmarshmallow · 27/11/2017 22:04

We've made lollies for the last few years: a circle of chocolate on baking paper with a stick laid on top then let the kids loose with the sprinkles/whatever else we can find. Nice and easy for little hands.

pnutter · 27/11/2017 22:09

Chocolate peppermint creams ( so peppermint creams half dipped in dark chocolate. Used to make them with my mum 40 years ago and still do them at Christmas.

Halebeke425 · 27/11/2017 22:51

Chocolate covered strawberries!

ToadOfSadness · 28/11/2017 03:21

If I use chocolate for Christmas I buy one that is palm oil free. I do not buy Cadburys palm oil and sugar. I stopped buying Cadburys when it stopped being actual chocolate.

jhgillies · 28/11/2017 09:22

My kids enjoy making truffles, and dipping dried fruit, pretzels and homemade biscuits in chocolate and then decorating them with all manner of sprinkles.

sofieellis · 28/11/2017 10:29

We always make a yule log, with chocolate buttercream, icing sugar and flake decorations.

Singadream · 28/11/2017 13:58

We have made mini chocolate fondue sets before.

mumpetuk1 · 28/11/2017 14:11

We melt Cadbury's chocolate in a pan and then cover our homemade Ginger Bread men... delicious

Ethan260908 · 28/11/2017 14:52

You know, I start off with such good intentions Cadbury's but then I just can't help myself and end up eating what I have bought for others. Especially if it is fruit n nut, or whole nut, or milk or well, I bet you get the idea. Hats off to those with more self discipline than me though.

bec4everuk1 · 28/11/2017 15:01

We make Christmas cookies with chocolate in shaped in Christmas moulds, one of which is left for Santa Christmas Eve along with the traditional mince pie

Helsbells68 · 28/11/2017 15:18

Homemade rum truffles with a 'do not drive after consuming' warning

Bella8 · 28/11/2017 15:27

Last year I bought cadbury mugs for everybody and made them hot choc sets with Cadbury hot choc sachets and marshmallows & cadburys flakes inside. I also baked Cadbury themed Christmas cupcakes. I put surprise fillings inside such as: Cadbury mint choc cream, gooey Cadbury caramel, Cadbury fudge delight and Cadbury honeycomb crunch to name but a few. I then wrapped these in tissue and gift boxed tied with a purple ribbon . I included on the inside lid all of the different fillings and then people enjoyed biting in and getting their Cadbury surprise inside! They were delicious...

gemmie797 · 28/11/2017 16:06

Our favourite chocolate presents are festive rice crispie cakes, made with melted dairy milk and fashioned into Christmas tree shapes. Mini marshmallows make the baubles!

Winningbeauty · 28/11/2017 16:42

Chocolate truffles every year goes down a treat. Who know double cream and chocolate would make such lovely treats.

I'm the maker, the partner the chocolate coverer and then my brother the decorator. It's a whole family affair and I love it.
