Everyone has different styles when it comes to decorating the house for Christmas; some of us have our go-to decorations while others like to mix it up with different themes each year. Homebase would like to know what your plans are for decorating your home this year and what decorations you like from their website.

Here’s what Homebase has to say: “At Homebase we have everything you need to make your Christmas sparkle, from trees and baubles, to giant inflatables and twinkly lights. Click here to check out our Christmas range and please share your favourite decorations below.”

To get you in the mood, here's some tips on decorating your tree:

So whether you’re a tinsel and fairy light lover, prefer a real or a fake tree, or even fake snow!, please share how you are going to decorate your home this Christmas below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

A fake tree, traditional red and gold decorations, lot of sparkly lights.
Nothing over the top as space is limited!

My conservatory looks a bit like Narnia all done up. :)
Lots of sparkly lights, a fake snowy tree, woodland animals (not real ones) and lots of garlands.

We always keep in quite minimal and traditional as we live in a cottage - a small real tree and gold and red decorations. stockings on the mantel piece and the best bit is the lights going up the spiral staircase!

I'm a little bit unadventurous when it comes to Christmas decorations, I'm ashamed to admit. I always stick with the classic red, green and gold. Absolutely no tinsel in my house whatsoever and no window lights or anything which sings. I decorate my house mainly with dainty little bits like berries and pine cones around candles.

Artificial tree gets carted out of the loft as can't afford a real one. Lots of nice coloured lights everywhere. Lots of decorations on the tree some of which have been handmade over the years by the children and a new tree decoration every year either from John Lewis or Homebase as the selection is wonderful. And of course lots of those special chocolate tree decorations hidden all over the tree which we love to find and scoff on Boxing Day.

We have a fake tree with really kitsch decorations on.

Fake tree which I always let the kids do themselves (I may rearrange slightly here and there!) and it always looks fabulous, fun and colourful. We have fresh pine cones about the house and I get fresh mistletoe and string it up in all the doorways. Fresh holly wreath for the front door. I like the looks of your red and green jingle bell garland!

Put up a (fake) Christmas tree and cards out. Maybe a few Santas and reindeer!

We have an artificial tree but I've got loads of new decorations to put on it to jazz it up.

I love my christmas tree. Have it different every year but i think this year will be along the same lines as the last as i never wanted to take it down!

I always have a fake tree because i cant stand the smell of real trees although i love the look of them.

This is mine from last year

We have white Outside lights all along our barn conversion roof. You can set them to twinkle and it looks so pretty as you drive in.

Inside I have holly and fairy lights along the top of the kitchen units (white kitchen high ceilings)

A big tree in the living room, more fairy lights on the lintel above the wood burner and lots of candles.

Try to keep it simple and rustic if I can!

We are moving house 2 weeks before Christmas and hoping to have a new kitchen and bathroom before the big day thus Christmas will be low key with last years tree and decorations. Come January sales we will buy a bigger and better and shinier and sparklier tree.

Real tree, no tinsel but fairy lights and plenty of baubles and ornaments hanging on it. Other decorations on the fire place - tea light holders, fairy lights, signs and lit up reindeer on the window sill. I love it all!

DH is always working long hours on the run up to Christmas and the kids and I got so fed up of not getting a real tree until a day or two before the big day that the year before last I bought quite an expensive artificial one for the first time ever. It's one of those that looks real with berries, pine cones etc and is actually rather nice and tasteful and my decs are always themed and co-ordinated with the rest of the room and hallway. On the down side, I'm gutted it isn't real but on the up side I can get it out and put it up whenever I like. Plus this year it will have paid for itself- ie cost of fake tree versus three real trees. My only worry is that the lights that are attached to it will blow! If they do I'm carefully cutting them off and replacing them. There's no way I'm having dead lights on my fake tree!!

We always have a real tree and multicoloured decorations. I like coloured lights too, but the LED ones I find too harsh, I prefer soft, pastelly lights, so I now have warm white lights.

I like a bit of tinsel and lametta, makes me feel nostalgic (pleased to see that Homebase sells this!)

Fake tree, and we make a day of it with the children. Christmas songs on while the tree and house are decorated before hot chocolate and a good Christmas film.

This year we have a handrail on the stairs. I’m planning on covering it in white material to look like snow and sticking penguin toys all the way down so it looks like they’re sliding on their bums!Grin
