It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Goodness I couldn't just pick one. Having been without a washing machine recently for over a week with two children (one still wetting himself) I can say that is the product that immediately springs to mind. I also had three weeks of no tumble dryer (and no washing line) and I'm now in love with my new tumble dryer . I could cope for a few days minus fridge as I have an electric cool box but I couldn't live without my hairdryer (bought a gas styler to go camping this year) or my phone (I break out in hives at the thought as I use it for so much).

Ipad my sons lifeline . He has adhd and autism and he adores watching life hacks on you tube and playing games

Wow, difficult question!

Have to say though if I didn’t have a washing machine I think I’d crack up. My life would be dominated by the laundry cycle (feels like it is already, sometimes!)
The DC would crack up if they didn’t have access to their devices though...

I couldn't live without my washing machine. We'd have to chuck out clothes when they got dirty and buy new.

Our microwave set on fire a couple of months ago, and because of space issues we can't replace it. I HATE having to use pans for cooking again, and even warming up milk is a faff. So the number 2 item is a microwave.

Washing machine. Can't stand washing things by hand!

lotte321 · 19/11/2017 16:06

If I had to choose, it would be our boiler. Couldn't do without my heating and a nice bath!

Ren1974 · 19/11/2017 16:42

Definitely the TV!

Not sure how I would cope without The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones!!

SpottyGecko · 19/11/2017 19:43

Television Blush

Mummychoochoo3 · 19/11/2017 20:26

My phone charger. My phone does everything!

mumpetuk1 · 19/11/2017 20:39

My iphone..... I have everything including my diary on it.

Wellandtrulyoutnumbered · 19/11/2017 20:45

Washing machine

oliveoyl72 · 19/11/2017 20:50

My desktop PC is one thing I'd miss massively, I way prefer it to laptop, tablet or phone for working or surfing.

dilydaly · 19/11/2017 20:52

Surely it's the kettle ?! If the day isn't started with a cup of coffee and ended with a cup of tea then it doesn't feel right :D couldn't live without the kettle :)

grannybiker · 19/11/2017 21:07

Could manage without the kettle as we have a gas hob and camping kettle....
If it was only a few days, I could let washing build up...
Think it would be the wireless hub we use to access the internet and TV reception

PurpleCrazyHorse · 19/11/2017 21:17

Washer-dryer and probably the TV (a great distraction for the DCs so I can pop and get a little job done while they're absorbed)

dadshere · 19/11/2017 21:47

Couldn't live without my laptop, it is my window onto the world. I work on it, I speak to my parents through it and browse the shops when I am bored.

CountingDownToBedtime · 19/11/2017 22:24

My condenser dryer which we recently bought, its made life so much easier.

HamSandWitches · 20/11/2017 00:32

The Breville cafe style sandwich/panini maker.

Paid £20 for it in the sale and it's one of the most used gadgets in the house. Kids can make bagels, paninis, toasties, pancakes in a few minutes if I'm at work to keep them going till I come in, even the 9yr old manages to make a Nutella toastie in it. I use it for breakfast or lunch when there is just me. Best £20 I've spent.

nerysw · 20/11/2017 06:14

My washing machine, I can't begin to imagine washing all the school uniform by hand. Landry is time consuming enough with a washing machine, without it would take me days!

badgermum · 20/11/2017 08:10

I couldnt do without my laptop, it's used for work, for shopping, for childrens homeowork, for staying in touch with family overseas, for photos, music, for watching tv and for playing games

thesockgap · 20/11/2017 08:56

I'm about to find out, as we are having a new kitchen fitted shortly and will be without our "mod cons" like washing machine, fridge freezer etc for a week! I am not looking forward to it. However I still think that I will be better able to live without those, than I would without a phone. It's my lifeline!

Gembo78 · 20/11/2017 09:44

My cordless hoover....what does that say about me Grin

babyann · 20/11/2017 11:21

my phone - I use it for everything, from banking, taking photos to playing games

chewiecat · 20/11/2017 12:02

My phone!!

Abominus · 20/11/2017 12:06

Lots of stuff! Phone, games consoles, TV, oven, fridge etc. Very hard to pick just one, i use so many things on a daily basis. I feel like i really have become too reliant on technology. Had a power cut a few months back and i was extremely bored after 5 minutes.
