It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I feel like it's my tablet, but actually it's the fridge.

Oh my goodness.. the washing machine - 100%!! The idea of manually laundering clothes makes me shudder! The amount of washing our family product would be enough to create a full time job - just think of it.. spot treating the stains, creating the sloshing effect for a general wash, rinsing, then squeezing the water out - all while trying to maintain the quality of the garment & keeping it in shape - argghh!!
I love my washing machine!

This just made me think on how we depend on electrical items to get through the day. I'm going to say my electric guitar. It's not really what you call an essential, but I've played it every day for decades. Its become part of who I am.

I would be lost without my phone! It holds all my contacts, photographs and gives me access to the internet!

BL0SS0M · 18/11/2017 13:48

oh probably my laptop or my phone charger!

strawberrisc · 18/11/2017 14:06

If I had to choose between my Amazon Dot, my iPhone, my iPad and my laptop it would HAVE to be my iPad. I wake up about two hours before i have to go to work and spend that 'me' time catching up on news, checking work emails and playing daft games.

I really like my sandwich toaster. The first one I ever owned ( many moons ago) came with a book with suggested fillings. The one I liked the best was banana and sultana- don't diss it until you've tried it! Other electrical goods are considered more essential and offer more convenience, of course.
I also bought my daughter a cheapy donut maker along the same principles as the above toaster for one Christmas, intending another year to get the other daughter one. Then they became more expensive so she never got one and she still bemoans the lost of having one!!!!

astonished19 · 19/11/2017 02:24
