It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Ranita · 16/11/2017 14:51

My cooker. I have always been food led.

Lisapaige24 · 16/11/2017 14:52

My iPad,iPhone, straighteners I could not function without any of these as there my absolute essentials how would I talk to my family and friends or do my online shopping or social media or straighten my frizzy hair

cheekychicken24 · 16/11/2017 15:01

Got to be my fridge freezer! I can cope without a cooker or a hob if I have to (lived with only a slow cooker and a microwave for a couple of weeks) but there's no way I have time to shop daily for fresh food!

sallyhartley · 16/11/2017 15:11

It would have to be my mobile charger lol

Ikea1234 · 16/11/2017 15:21

I definitely couldn't live without my hair straigheners....I'd go out every day looking like this 💩 every day!! 😂

Shiftymake · 16/11/2017 15:25

Fridgefreezer and on a very strong second the washer dryer!

CopperPan · 16/11/2017 15:39

It has to be my smartphone - I have my calendar and organiser apps on there, and I'd really struggle to remember what I'm doing one day to the next without it!

TheJunctionBaby · 16/11/2017 16:05

The washing machine! Everything else I can think of a way around not having one. But as we are a family of 6, I definitely couldn't live without my washing machine.

katslo4 · 16/11/2017 16:15

Depends if the basics were included. Could not live without the washing machine. But as a luxury it would be my phone as I could make phone calls, text, use the internet and watch tv all in one place.

sammylea80 · 16/11/2017 16:29

The washing machine! 2 loads of washing most days, I couldn't imagine doing it all by hand!

MrsG841 · 16/11/2017 16:30

My dishwasher!

Its on at least twice w day and with me and husband working shifts and having 2 children its the best thing in my house

cassey1 · 16/11/2017 16:48

I would be lost without my Ipad. Catch up with emails, social media, my photo's are on there and I enter plenty of competitions too on it.

mollymoo818 · 16/11/2017 16:54

It would be between my kettle and my tablet. It would be a hard choice actually. I NEED my tea and coffee to get through the day but my tablet has everything on it and is one of the few things in the house that is just for me and I can use to escape for an hour when I have the chance and just relax watching something on Netlfix or else read a book through the kindle app.

Wishingandwaiting · 16/11/2017 17:04

My cordless vacuum. Makes tidying up after dinner a breeze

beelzebomb · 16/11/2017 17:38

Well it appears to be my iPad Mini - since it went into be repaired 4 days ago I feel isolated!

IonaAilidh11 · 16/11/2017 17:51

fridge freezer of course

like7 · 16/11/2017 17:52

washing machine ...or .. fridge (can cope without that in the winter but not the summer!)

CharleyYpres · 16/11/2017 17:55

Definitely my phone. The way tech has developed has allowed me to have all the facilities of phone, internet and laptop all in one, it's so handy to have it all in the palm of my hand.

Lauzipop1 · 16/11/2017 18:39

My kettle because there is nothing a good old cup of tea or coffee can't fix.

Rachdayan · 16/11/2017 18:46

Definitely If I didn't have a laptop i'd be well and truly stuck. I use it for everything from paying bills, booking holidays, online food shopping, keeping up with the news to name but a few of it's uses.

jandoc · 16/11/2017 18:49

I would say the laptop

hermitcrab · 16/11/2017 19:15

My washing machine, its ancient but just keeps working. I'm far too antisocial to want to hang out at the launderette.

Dormouse1940 · 16/11/2017 19:20

I'm not a big tech person to be honest- we don't even have a TV!

But blimey, I do love the internet.

I mean, I could survive without it....but I'd rather not, thanks!

Also on my list of 'things I take for granted but am really grateful for' include the washing machine and my slow-cooker.

sm2012 · 16/11/2017 19:28

Personally it's my hair straighteners, my hair would be a massive frizz bomb without them!
