It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

My kettle! I drink so too much tea.

mave · 16/11/2017 06:56

My coffee machine as I can't function without one or two in the morning!!

ThemisA · 16/11/2017 06:59

I can't decide between my laptop or the kettle. I drink rather a lot of tea and would be lost without a kettle however the laptop is necessary for work, rest and play and the entire family rely on it. It is the place we go for information, to communicate with family and friends and for fun.

Kettle - my morning brew is essential for the safety of the nation

wjanice121 · 16/11/2017 07:21

My hair straighteners. I have got wild (and I mean wild) curly hair and my hair straighteners make me look normal.

It has to be my Kindle! I'm 27 weeks pregnant with my first, and spending a lot of time in bed at the moment...being able to escape in a good book on my Kindle to make me feel better is the only thing currently keeping me semi-sane!

amyhalliday1 · 16/11/2017 07:34

to be honest I can do without my laptop for periods of time , Went to Scotland for 5 days the other week did not take it with me. I don't use a mobile phone either it's pay as you go there for emergencies only. I am a Dinosaur,

vonniebab2 · 16/11/2017 07:42

I would be lost without my mobile its always by my side!

towser44 · 16/11/2017 07:42

Laptop! Without it I couldn't work from home and I live on the internet at all other times too!

KAKADU2001 · 16/11/2017 08:21

Got to be honest gadgets and gizmos don't interest me that much. For emergency reasons as I drive over 1500 miles a week I have a mobile phone. It's 5 years old and the only phone number in it is that of my wife.

MimiJoy · 16/11/2017 08:23

My desktop is the item I couldn't do without - my "window" to the world. I just can't believe that 20 years ago I had no Internet ...

AnimalAddict · 16/11/2017 08:26

Washing machine! Having to do everything by hand would drive me crazy :)

flozza42 · 16/11/2017 08:38

I couldn't live without my iPad it's my right hand

lizd31 · 16/11/2017 08:40

I'm disabled & housebound so I'd be lost without my laptop, television & phone. The phone to keep in touch with my family & my laptop & television to ease the boredom of being stuck in the house 24/7

sheilads105 · 16/11/2017 08:47

My washing Machine - no doubt. I think back to my Mum having to use a mangle!

feefeegabor · 16/11/2017 09:01

How sad am I that in a fire, it would be a toss up between my 1960s record player and my 1950s teasmade to save! We use the teasmade every weekend - I can't believe that these are out of fashion, it's so lovely to be woken up by a cup of tea!

faythy · 16/11/2017 09:13

Hair dryer would be my most missed item as I'd soon look and feel a mess without it.

AR2012 · 16/11/2017 09:25

Laptop i need it to work.

happysouls · 16/11/2017 09:28

Suprisingly I could manage without most of it. In October we went on holiday to Cornwall in a tent with no electric hookup for 2 1/2 weeks! We cooked extensive pasta feasts from scratch using a little gas stove and our lights were battery operated. The only thing I used was my phone with a powerbank for photos, weather and news updates and checking emails! So that is the thing I can't do without. But on a day to day basis I can quite happily go without it for the day!

juju3 · 16/11/2017 09:37

Washing machine - me and the whole household would come to a stop without it

My coffee machine - I need at least 2 cups of coffee in the morning to get my heart started

shellywkd · 16/11/2017 09:54

It would probably be my phone as I have all my daughters doctors numbers and appointments in. I use it to do my banking, keep memos and use the internet.
