It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

If we're on about necessary then I would choose my cooker but if we're going by what I would sulk without and I think it would be my phone I am isolated without it its my life

my hairdryer too, how could I go out without it!

MrsDramaQueen · 15/11/2017 22:28

I can't pick just one, as there are so many -

My hairdryer - my hair would be a curly mess without it. I can't leave the house without using it.

My laptop - It allows me to connect with family I rarely see and see friends pictures from across the world. It has made my life easier with shopping and looking for things for the kids.

My kettle - I need a hot brew in the morning to make me feel human.

My robot hoover. A completely life-changing gadget for my household.

ivykaty44 · 15/11/2017 22:30

My dishwasher

I love cooking and family meals are a social occasion

But no one likes to spoil a family dinner by ending with washing up, it all goes in the dishwasher - 😅

kamaxtra · 15/11/2017 22:37

Yep, I wouldn't know what to do without my laptop! My work, my entertainment, it all stems from there.

Gosh, that sounds very sad!

Having lived abroad for several months a few years ago without a washing machine or a fridge (or any other major appliances), I’d have to say the washing machine. That was our first purchase-there’s nothing like clean fresh-smelling, spin clothes to lift your mood. It was bliss not having to repeatedly run the bath for numerous washes/rinses and getting aching arms from trying to wring all the water out. The fridge was the next biggie but easier to work around with careful shopping.

Now I’m back in modern society, I’d kill to have a replacement for the dishwasher that has just died!

I could easily do without my phone and laptop. However my iPad and my iron are very precious. I hate having huge piles of ironing so use the iron very regularly so it doesn’t build up.

Narnianescape · 15/11/2017 22:43

I would be lost without my phone as my commute to work would be so boring

hdh747 · 15/11/2017 22:45

My PC - how did I ever manage before I could google things?

funkyfreks · 15/11/2017 22:55

my washing machine, could you imagine washing 5 people clothing by hand and wringing them out! aagghhh Hmm

fld14 · 15/11/2017 22:59

There are lots of things I wouldnt like to live without but when it comes down to literally the thing I could not live without it would have to be my fridge freezer.

Monkeymops · 15/11/2017 23:00

My radio! I live for music. When you're happy you can dance and sing along and when you're down...you play songs to make you feel even more down haha. Music makes the world go round for me so I HAVE to have my radio!

glennamy · 15/11/2017 23:08

Rice cooker for me, my favourite gadget, keeps rice perfect for hours if needed! :)

socat · 15/11/2017 23:17

Microwave would be missed (defrosting meat, melting, reheating, cooking esp. veg, fish or a ready meal, soup etc. Heating up milk.)

Pmliu · 15/11/2017 23:19

I would be lost without my phone, iPad and tv.

voyager50 · 16/11/2017 00:14

My macbook and netbook - they are the only devices I have access to the internet on - the macbook had all my precious photos as well as all my spreadsheets for account etc and it stays at home and the netbook is for checking emails when I'm out and about - I would be lost without them.

pinkjjf27 · 16/11/2017 00:28

My laptop even though I am a teacher with a first class double honours degree i I have dyslexia and dyslexia i i have to work that much harder than the average person my laptop assist me in all sorts of task. My husband used o support me a lot in task such as prove reading and stuff but he passed away so now i have to have loads of software and programs to help me with everyday skills,
If i was allowed two items the other would be my kettle as i am addicted to tea.

alibabbaskeggy · 16/11/2017 00:35

pockledigg · 16/11/2017 03:23

My Smartphone! How did I get through life for 45 years without it? It's so many amazing things all in one little package-an brilliant piece of technology (and mine isn't even a 'fancy' one!)

TracyKNixon · 16/11/2017 05:10

I'd be lost without my laptop for emailing, shopping, banking, browsing, using social media etc

alabaster002 · 16/11/2017 06:02

Washing machine - my mother in law, who refuses to buy one, still washes everything by hand so I see how hard it is.

PumpingRSI · 16/11/2017 06:03

I'd currently be lost without my slow cooker. We're undergoing a renovation at the moment which means limited appliances so the slow cooker has enabled us to have delicious warming healthy meals - fab at this time of year!

Also having moved house I miss our old full height fridge. I can't wait until our new kitchen is finished and I can buy another with loads of room for food - and wine!!

daisybeebee · 16/11/2017 06:24

So hard to just choose one but it would have to be my washing machine. My gran had one of those old mangles and the tales she would tell of hours spent washing and the physical exertion involved fills me with dread. I feel so lucky that the days of having to do this are well behind us.

tallandlong · 16/11/2017 06:26

my ipad!!!!
