It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

gosh, my laptop, just had to buy a new one. Didn't dare wait for the old one to give up and die, just to risky, feels like your life is on your laptop

twinklenic · 15/11/2017 21:14

would have to be the washing machine. Theres 5 of us live here and if it ever break downs im totally lost as i do at least one load of washing per day

mummykate87 · 15/11/2017 21:14

I'd be lost without my phone. It's not just my primary form of contact, it's also my calendar!

Ferryfairy · 15/11/2017 21:14

iPad /dishwasher, iPad/dishwasher. DON’T MAKE ME CHOOSE!

When my son was younger I would have said my Sky+ box, as he had this habit of crying just as I was settling down to watch a good programme at night so I never got to see stuff on the telly when it was actually on!! He is now much older and I think having 2 TV's, one in the front room and one in the back, is a godsend, he can play games on the xbox or watch youtube on one telly at night (mainly weekends when he gets to stay up) and I can watch all the stuff I don't get the chance to concentrate on or watch!

This is a hard one! I’d have to say my washing machine

prwilson · 15/11/2017 21:20

I would be lost without my PC, it's my window on the world.

PickAChew · 15/11/2017 21:22

I would say my tumble dryer, but it'd be useless without my washing machine. It's been a workhorse for 5 years and I'm leaving it behind, when I move. New house has an off brand integrated washer and the first sign of it being inadequate and I'll be replacing it with a shiny new one. Previous periods of having no washer have been horrible, with the boys generating as much laundry as they do. Thankfully, there's a laundrette down the road from the new house which will be handy if this happens, in the future. But still not as good as having a really good washing machine.

Hair straighteners !!

SSCRASE123 · 15/11/2017 21:24

Laptop and mobile for me. Having knowledge and everything I need online instantly is just they way our lives are led now.

andywedge · 15/11/2017 21:25

My laptop - can't be without it; goes on holiday with me too

mo3733 · 15/11/2017 21:25

i treat my laptop like a newborn baby. i use it to communicate with family, to shop and to learn. it has pride of place on a cabinet in the front room and everyone is banned from touching it.

APJ1 · 15/11/2017 21:26

It's something I probably take for granted but I'd say my washing machine. Loading and unloading it is a chore but washing by hand would be even more of one!

eatmysocks23 · 15/11/2017 21:29

My robot Roomba! Saves me so much time and has helped my allergies so much!

freefan · 15/11/2017 21:34

Mmm I would be totally lost without the main essentials like fridge freezer and the washing machine. It would be so expensive shopping day to day then hand washing all my families washing would be an endless job and one I would not look forward to.

hibbertheather · 15/11/2017 21:36

It would have to be my straighteners! I don't know how I would cope without them, how pathetic is that 😂

tia3456 · 15/11/2017 21:37

Has to be my laptop, my phone is good for some stuff, but you can't beat using a laptop for the internet, from shopping to catching up with family, I would be lost without my laptop

Funkyferret · 15/11/2017 21:48

My laptop. I couldn't work on my phone, I couldn't read online content on my tablet. My eyes are too bad! So many things from TV shows, to keeping up with friends, to researching things I need to know, to managing my finances is down to my laptop. I really couldn't live without it.

daisyduck123 · 15/11/2017 21:53

It has to be the kettle.. who could manage without a cuppa !!

AuFinch · 15/11/2017 21:55

the washing machine! no way would i want to go back to using a twin tub, or even worse, hand washing with a mangle! I used to hate Saturday mornings having to help my mother get through the entire laundry of the whole house it was hard work! To put the clothes in the machine switch on and walk away until its finished is just heavenly!

dul4hw · 15/11/2017 21:56

Well since I can't function without 2 cups of tea back to back first thing in the morning I'd say it has to be the kettle.

emmav6 · 15/11/2017 22:04

with a toddler & 2 boys who live on a football pitch, i couldn't live without my washing machine!!!

007hel · 15/11/2017 22:06

When I go camping the two electrical things I take is my phone and ecig, I couldn’t live without either at the moment ... ask me next year and I hope it’ll just be the phone 🤞🏻

xcxcsophiexcxc · 15/11/2017 22:11

Probably cliche but it's my phone. Don't know how I'd cope without being able to pick up and cal whoever of use google maps!

glenka · 15/11/2017 22:16

I would miss my iPad the most because it keeps me connected to what's going on in the world
