Whether it’s super healing, super strength, super speed or even the ability to manipulate the forces of the universe, there are certain moments in life when having superpowers would come in handy! With that being said Sky Cinema knows that the summer holidays is often a time when parents unleash their own superpowers and they want to hear all about the lengths you’ve gone to to keep your kids entertained so far this summer!

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “This summer, we have a new premiere every day, so you don’t need superpowers to find something great to watch. Premieres this August include Storks, Keeping up with The Joneses, Allied and the brilliant animation Kubo and the Two Strings. We've also got some great superhero movies, such as Marvel's Doctor Strange, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, and Deadpool."

Have you put your multi-tasking skills into full force and been cooking or baking with the kids? Maybe you organised a family sports day in the park, and prepared everyone’s favourite snacks without needing a reminder of what their favourites were? Perhaps you’re able to turn a day out around when you’re unexpectedly graced with some rainy British weather? Or maybe you’ve found a way to magically entertain your children without putting in any effort!

So, inspired by Sky Cinema’s range of superhero movies, comment with the superpowers you have exhibited this summer and you’ll be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

As my little girl is just 7 weeks old, I have mastered the superpower of going 24 hours with only 2 hours sleep!! Boom! ;)

carolineandbaby · 21/08/2017 07:38

This summer has been a busy one. I have managed to move house while 6 months pregnant. I have been emptying boxes and making curtains while husband is at work and while 9 year old is in bed asleep. When she wakes the boxes make a great tool for building forts and castles!

I'm trying to stop being a childminder and move into being a fitness instructor. As I can't afford to give up thse former while I build business with the latter I'm currently doing a bit of both. This means 6am, daytime and evening PT clients wrapped around before and after school child care. Not to mention a house to run and our own kids. I hoping life will seam easy once I past this.

Summer holidays lol, what are they? I home ed my four youngest so its all one long Summer Holidays! But...this Summer, we were pleased to get out and build dens, have picnics, and massive arguments over the fact that I had to put a pigeon out of its misery! (blame our Cat for that one!)
Because they're home all the time, they get on my nerves loads, but I am more used to finding them out things to do. My eldest girl has started noticing boys, and is on a health drive, so she would go out and jog round the garden for hours on end, while my youngest loves making play-dough, so that was her sorted, and with my eldest two, I gave them jobs to do so they could make a bit of money and get out from under my feet! All in all, think we did rather well! All I have to sort now is the end of the month when on the same day my eldest girl turns 10 and my boy turns 16! x
Ohh and my son also spent his summer with his mates raising money for the NSPCC dressed as a Banana-Llama.....don't ask!

Pulling off a brill party with a poorly pet and no time or money!

I had to whip out the superhero parent cloak on our recent UK beach holiday - working on a budget, we tried to pack as much fun as we could into each day, on the cheap! Cue a day on the beach, with prepacked picnic & beach tent sourced through Freecycle! We hit the beach, the sun was shining - I started work on putting up the beach tent as there was a bit of a breeze.. this grew in strength steadily until I was almost wearing the beach tent &, despite my best efforts, it wasn't looking remotely tent like. The tide was also coming in rapidly at this point (note to self: check times next time). Noting the face of my LO, crumpled with disappointment - I abandoned the tent, whisked our baggage further up the beach, tucked a towel in the back of my T-shirt to serve as a fashionable, yet functional cape, chased him round the rockpools & ran from the incoming tide. We took a rest & tucked into the picnic as planned - but wrapped in our towels instead of in the shelter of the beach tent!
No extra money spent, we rolled with the tide & the weather, LO hardly noticed & we still had an awesome time :)

Not usually one to blow my own trumpet, but I feel pretty impressed with myself that I have managed to keep working until nearly 37 weeks pregnant with my second child, while running a house and keeping my toddler entertained on my days off. Glad to have finished work now though!

kassza · 22/08/2017 05:52

The kids wont melt in the rain! Continue as normal but take wellies and waterproofs. We have sat in our woodshed and had a picnic in the snow before now :)

aggga8 · 22/08/2017 08:06

you dont need to go to cinema to watch new movies. Skycinema entertain you at your own home:)

Butterfly1975 · 22/08/2017 10:22

Sorting out my childcare arrangements over this summer has required superpowers akin to the greatest of superheroes! It's been an absolute nightmare to work and find affordable child care for 6 and a half weeks. Much as I love them being at home of course Wink

falgelednl · 22/08/2017 13:23

I broke a bone in my ankle during the second week of the holidays as well as ligament damage. I have managed to keep three children smiling and amused whilst wearing a cast and trapped close to home. I have taught my older two the joys of going to the local shop by themselves; I have been blessed by friends willing to give us all lifts and family willing to take on my three bouncy children whilst I attend hospital appointments. I have built endless models with Lego and pushed on to find the missing jigsaw piece that tried to escape beneath the sofa. I have devolved super powers so now have children who can make their own snacks, hang out the laundry, brush the floor and clean the kitchen sink. In this house, we have all been super heroes this summer!

sofieellis · 22/08/2017 17:51

I feel like I have superpowers every time I manage to coax my 16 year old out of his bedtime. He usually only comes out if he's hungry or the internet goes down. I've organised some games nights, movie nights and even had him walk for miles around Hadrian's Wall, a castle and a fort - which to his amazement, he thoroughly enjoyed!

cookie09 · 22/08/2017 20:52

The superpowers i've realised i've gained throughout this summer is the power of being in 2 places at the same time. On holiday in spain whilst facetiming my boys back home showing them how to look after the plants in the garden whilst they was in my mothers care. She has no clue. Who said holidays are for resting?? I will salut the day i dont have to use my powers from afar and i can just relax in peace... I can but wish!

Quietvoiceplease · 23/08/2017 05:00

My superpower is juggling (I job-share this super-power with my DH).
We keep three DDs fed, watered and entertained (to a point, boredom is good at times). We have managed two separate weeks away camping. We have been welcoming to the children's friends when they wish to come and play (and happily waved ours off when they've been invited elsewhere). We have made jam for the first time from the blackberries picked at the park. Both my DH and I hold down demanding jobs, and are currently in the middle of major house renovations.
Sometimes I feel super-human, mostly I feel like JAM (just about managing). My sense of humour frequently goes missing.
Without sounding pious, the daily news reminds me that, for many parents in the world, it takes super-human effort to try and keep your children alive (and even that is not enough often). Helps me keep my sense of perspective (which is not a super-power of mine).

mamof3boys · 23/08/2017 11:13

My superpowers are holiday planning. I have managed to organise two separate weeks away for myself, DH, three DS's and a dog, and haven't forgotten anything! For the rest of the time my children don't want me to organise them as they're now 11, 9 and 6. They complain when I plan a dog walk!

babyloi · 23/08/2017 21:53

I have picnic super powers! I put together a teddy bears picnic for my little ones and ten friends at our local park. I also managed to tire them all out and my two slept for England . . . now THERE'S a super power!

My superpower is managing to stay quite chipper, despite having quite a pile of unpleasant things on my plate at the moment. And despite all urges I've managed not to rant at any of the so called friends who've forgotten we exist in our time of need. Genuinely am quite ok with this. Mostly.

grannybiker · 24/08/2017 11:46

For years I told mine that when you became a Mum you developed eyes in the back of your head. Then I woke one morning to find them rummaging around my head while I slept trying to find them!

Jackisback · 24/08/2017 16:21

I've been able to make a good impression with lots of people I've met through my OH!

katieskatie82 · 24/08/2017 17:27

i had 4 of my sons friends over for his weekend birthday celebrations! i defiantly had superpower parenting skills that day!

mumpetuk1 · 24/08/2017 17:45

I've managed to abstain from wine and be the kids taxi driver for the weekend!

alison991 · 24/08/2017 18:57

The art of making food stretch to feed hungry teenage boys who empty the frige

clarabella12 · 24/08/2017 19:45

I've had the super power of patience, 3 kids various activities I'm glad they've returned to school.

Jocelynne123 · 24/08/2017 21:26

I have managed to pack the house to move by making it into a game. For example who can pack this box the fastest, who can donate and throw away the most old things. Multi tasking at it's best! Xx

myboycraig · 24/08/2017 22:06

My super power was getting up on Christmas day heavily pregnant, loaded with the worst cold and prepare Christmas dinner for my whole family (15 in total)
