Whether it’s super healing, super strength, super speed or even the ability to manipulate the forces of the universe, there are certain moments in life when having superpowers would come in handy! With that being said Sky Cinema knows that the summer holidays is often a time when parents unleash their own superpowers and they want to hear all about the lengths you’ve gone to to keep your kids entertained so far this summer!

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “This summer, we have a new premiere every day, so you don’t need superpowers to find something great to watch. Premieres this August include Storks, Keeping up with The Joneses, Allied and the brilliant animation Kubo and the Two Strings. We've also got some great superhero movies, such as Marvel's Doctor Strange, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, and Deadpool."

Have you put your multi-tasking skills into full force and been cooking or baking with the kids? Maybe you organised a family sports day in the park, and prepared everyone’s favourite snacks without needing a reminder of what their favourites were? Perhaps you’re able to turn a day out around when you’re unexpectedly graced with some rainy British weather? Or maybe you’ve found a way to magically entertain your children without putting in any effort!

So, inspired by Sky Cinema’s range of superhero movies, comment with the superpowers you have exhibited this summer and you’ll be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I have displayed my fucking patience of Job superpower this summer

littleme96 · 14/08/2017 13:12

This summer I have displayed super diary juggling skills - somehow everyone has got to where they need to be, whether that is work, clubs, childminder or at home with everything they need at the right times.

I didn't account for child with Norovirus, but moving everything around was relatively painless at least.

Josephinelavelle · 14/08/2017 15:09

Getting back on my bike for first time since having a baby. I checked out a new off road route - saved knocking a kid off his bike by serving into the grass bank.

jandoc · 14/08/2017 15:17

I have managed to keep step kids busy and not toooo bored while they have been off school.

Dormouse1940 · 14/08/2017 15:29

Forced myself out of bed at 7am with the Other Half so we could all have a 'civilised' family breakfast. I've then consistently taken DS to the park each morning, so we both get some fresh air and exercise...it may not sound much, but if I didn't I'd find it too easy to be a lazy slob all morning in my pyjamas and then write the day off for doing anything productive by lunchtime!

Sairelou · 14/08/2017 16:30

I have the superpowers of refereeing and patience so far this summer. I was dreading my 4yo DS starting school in September, now I can't bloody wait!

Last night I demonstrated the tooth fairy superpower of sneaking quietly through a room containing 2 lightly sleeping, over-excited small children, over a obstacle course of Lego, tiny toy cars, and toy train tracks; over to the eldest's bed; where I rummaged about under his pillow to swap his fallen out tooth with a shiny coin; and then managed to successfully leave the bedroom without waking either child.

Given the mess on the floor, I can only think the pair of them had been hoping that the tooth fairy would make a noise, so they could wake up and catch it.

footdust · 14/08/2017 18:55

My superpower has been resisting (most of the time) the temptation to put children's TV on

Musicianofbremen · 14/08/2017 20:08

Super strength carrying 4 scooters and a buggy up a steep hill because it was easier than listening to whinging children.

rangel67 · 14/08/2017 20:12

Superpower developed the past 5 weeks, working out how to get around on crutches (due to knee damaged while warming up for a colour run) and keep a 10 year old happy/ amused/ active etc. I am now realising how close bus stops are to parks, how many benches/seats there are in different areas, and how helpful & friendly some people can be.

Minnibix · 14/08/2017 20:18

I held a sleepover for 5 of my 6 year old DD's friends and it was such a success they want to do it again in a months time OMG what have I done

IncaAztec · 14/08/2017 20:41

Super-hero powers to survive a holiday in Devon at the beach. Sounds fun but it rained Every Single Day! Juggled kids, wet belongings and a husband!

gemmie797 · 14/08/2017 21:43

I've turned my sons into holiday pied pipers and encouraged them to collect a possee of mates to collect treasure on the beach. Hours of fun for them & peace for me!

shewhomustbeEbayed · 14/08/2017 23:11

Finding the right mix of activities for my 13 yo dd, so she has enough to do but not too much. It has combined me working and taking her places as well as making arrangements for both our birthdays ( and buying suitable, acceptable presents ) it has felt like a balancing act but I have heard her talking to others about how she is enjoying her holidays so I must have got something right !

Alakazam7 · 14/08/2017 23:24

The power to know when and how to gradually introduce my foster children to experiences they've never had before like a holiday and trip to the beach. Seeing the wonder in their eyes and smiles on faces at the end of a lovely day is a great reward. (The power to change a child's life chances is pretty amazing too!)

Raisingbabylg · 15/08/2017 05:42

My superpower is staying calm through tantrums (terrible twos) and when my husband throws a little tantrum too in response to the toddler tantrumBlush

rhinosuze · 15/08/2017 07:20

Patience!!!!!! And I certainly need it in the school holidays!

hannahbjm · 15/08/2017 07:48

Definitely my super power seems to be that I am invisible. As my two definitely ignore me when I ask them to do something!

angiehoggett · 15/08/2017 08:56

The ability to keep the kids occupied in this abysmal weather we have been having!

Blahblahblueblee · 15/08/2017 10:30

My Super power has been super chilledness! I've been trying to master being chilled and letting it rub off onto the kids!

Ren1974 · 15/08/2017 11:05

Super-savvyness! Had loads of days out using vouchers and discount offers as well as "free" days at parks and museums!

We even had a day out in London for next to nothing by booking train tickets 12 weeks in advance. We travelled from South Wales and i paid £29 return for me and my son and we saw the sights as well as visiting the natural history and science museums.

Cosmia · 15/08/2017 12:14

I have an amazing ability to go back to sleep at 5.30am despite a 2 year old trying to pull my eyelids apart. And then maintain enough of a conversation with her that we don't have to get up until 7am. #cantdoearlyrising

mum25littleones · 15/08/2017 13:11

I have managed to move house, decorate it all and keep the kids from saying 'I'm bored' all at the same time - we are half way through the holidays and they haven't uttered the sentence once! If that isn't a super power i don't know what is!!

Super sewing skills! I've tailored Child's first senior school blazer for september so she doesn't look like her arms are ridiculously short. I've done it in such a way that:

  1. it can be let back down if she grows up but not out again
  2. you can't actually tell I've done anything.
SKILLZ!!!
