Whether it’s super healing, super strength, super speed or even the ability to manipulate the forces of the universe, there are certain moments in life when having superpowers would come in handy! With that being said Sky Cinema knows that the summer holidays is often a time when parents unleash their own superpowers and they want to hear all about the lengths you’ve gone to to keep your kids entertained so far this summer!

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “This summer, we have a new premiere every day, so you don’t need superpowers to find something great to watch. Premieres this August include Storks, Keeping up with The Joneses, Allied and the brilliant animation Kubo and the Two Strings. We've also got some great superhero movies, such as Marvel's Doctor Strange, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, and Deadpool."

Have you put your multi-tasking skills into full force and been cooking or baking with the kids? Maybe you organised a family sports day in the park, and prepared everyone’s favourite snacks without needing a reminder of what their favourites were? Perhaps you’re able to turn a day out around when you’re unexpectedly graced with some rainy British weather? Or maybe you’ve found a way to magically entertain your children without putting in any effort!

So, inspired by Sky Cinema’s range of superhero movies, comment with the superpowers you have exhibited this summer and you’ll be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I have super-stealth - able to creep round a hotel room, make tea, play board games and chat, and not wake the little one.

My superpower is the ability to gauge, to the nearest minute, how long ds1 and ds2 have each had on the Xbox to stave off arguments about who had had more time.

My superpower is making sure I have a picnic bag at the ready during the school holidays when out and about with two hungry lads (not even mentioning the hungry Dad) I guarantee wherever we go during the school hols whether it's the park, the beach or a museum within the first hour of being out one will mumble those common words " I'm Hungry"

My superpower this summer so far has been managing not to catch the vomiting bug that has swept our house hold whilst dealing with a 6 yr old a 22month and 6 month old all projectile vomiting in everything in sight. Confused

Mine has been dividing myself into 3, and using mind control to convince to youngest to try veggies.

All jokes aside, I'm enjoying the time with them before being back at work in sept!

Manage to take my DS 3yrs, baby DD & nephew out for the day by myself & out for dinner afterwards with no dramas all day or my toddler having a melt down for number of possible ridiculous reasons. 👍🏻😂

My superpower was braving the mother of all muddiest festivals, just me and DS. At times I was seriously questioning my decision, but we ended up having a great time when the sun came out.

Admittedly I was in training during spring but my super power was locating & using the TV remote. My strength training prevented RSI when I had to constantly scroll through the kids channels until I found PJ masks or similar. Apart from giving my kids square eyes we have enjoyed lots of baking. However my powers of restraint were lacking so I had to find new fashion powers to hide the muffin top. Thank god the summer was a washout!

Today I helped put out a field fire,
Drove a combine, organised family life, fixed a broken plough and did most of that with the baby in the sling.

Go me, I am a farming ninja!

I'm a student nurse. Have been working through summer holidays. Have a two year old and a husband who is a nursing assistant.

I have been doing 48 hour weeks, running a craft group and keeping a toddler sane. Whilst doing essays, my portfolio, helping my 21 year old who moved out but still needs her mum.

I have big knickers. The only thing holding me together 😂

As a foster mother you really do have to think on your feet and try to stay one step ahead of pre-empted situations. So recently on a picnic to a beautiful castle and gardens it was left to me to prepare the munchies for everyone. I packed 2 backed picnic blankets, a ball and a large parachute game where several people hold one piece of a large circle of material and try to bounce the ball across - this proved not only to be great fun but when a light shower passed over us we quickly used it as a gigantic umbrella tied off to a couple of fence post and a tree - I was the only one to get wet and the food and kids were dry underneath :)

I have managed to get through two thirds of the summer holidays without any blood being shed or even doors being slammed, so far. I'm don't think I've yelled at a child in anger even once. Nor confiscated any tech. And given that two of mine are teens, that must be super-heroic!

(I'm shattered, though. Roll on September, I'll go back to work for a rest!)

It's a niche superpower, but I'm a super shoe hunter. I've tracked down wandering footwear under furniture, clothes, pets, inside toys and cupboards and even once inside my own shoes.

Have definitely perfected the art of super-persuasion - persuading our 3 DDs to tidy up their toys/'stuff' practically constantly whilst their at home so much more of each day (ok, it's bribery)! This complemented by super-stealth, in having offed as much surplus outgrown 'stuff' to charity shops in advance of the onslaught!!

I used my super powers by predicting the weather and having a back up plan when rain seemed imminent. Had lots of outdoor activities planned for summer, but made sure there was an indoor alternative, so days out were still fun. For example, we planned a day at the beach, but it rained, so we headed for The Circus instead.

I finally passed my driving test before the summer holidays and was excited about all the outings we could have... yep, that's right, the car literally fell to pieces and is beyond repair Sad. So we have no money, due to having to pay for a replacement which isn't ready til September... This catalogue of disasters is testing my parental entertainer skills significantly!! So far we have:

  • made dens in the living room on rainy days
  • thrown a 'summer birthday party' for my Christmas-born elder child with a pass the parcel, disco and silly games
  • got the paddling pool out at the slightest hint of sunshine, in between torrential downpours
  • pulled an ancient version of The Game of Life out of the loft, which has been brilliant!
  • played cinemas i.e. drawn the curtains, put on a movie, made popcorn. I managed to paint the hallway whilst children were thusly occupied!

It has been quite a challenging holiday..Grin

My superpower is patience, being a negotiator and taking a day at a time. I like to plan my days and let the children know what we are doing. I try to split my time between my children so they both get quality time doing nice things.

My superpower would be getting up in the early hours to start preparing an enormous buffet for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary party in my back garden, whilst simultaneously breastfeeding and looking after my newborn baby. Just call me Superwoman! (There is nothing I won't do for those that I love).
