So the kids are in bed. That means that the grand Movie Date Night In is ON. We want to know how such romantic nights go in your home.

How do you decide which movies to watch with your OH and who gets the final say? Are there any films you’re looking forward to seeing this summer?

What you do to make these evenings special? Do you perhaps have a special movie dinner or snack you love to make? Are there homemade cocktails or mocktails or just a glass of something cold? And if you have any memorable Date Night In moments you want to share, we'd love to hear about them.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “With Sky Cinema, it’s easy to find something to watch this summer. We've got the ten biggest blockbusters of 2016 available on demand, as well as new premieres every day. From Bridget Jones’ Baby to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them”

All who share their movie date night tips in a post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

We're making our way through the Oscar winning 'Best Picture' films from the past! It's really interesting and I have watched some films I would never have chosen otherwise. We take it in turns to choose from the list of Oscar winners so we've had a real variety of eras so far.

Snacks, drinks, and if even slightly cold enough to justify it, a snuggly blanket to curl up under, are all necessary additions!

WE take it in turns to pick a movie and make sure we each have our favourite snacks - and all mod cons off so that we can have some quality time together without notifications pinging in

id be quite happy to have time to have a date night. I have a 3 year old thats very demanding and doesnt really like being left with anyone else. So at the moment our date nights involve a disney film and a certain little miss sat in between us :)

  1. Ensure kids are asleep
  2. Put film on
  3. Put kid 1 back to bed
  4. Put film back on
  5. Put kid 2 back to bed
  6. Put film back on
  7. Repeat process

We like to pick a few films and decide together what we're in the mood for. We do quite like scary films, but hubby always laughs at me because I get so into it that I literally jump at the scary bits. Then I laugh at him laughing at me. We like having fun and being silly together and snuggling up on the sofa on date nights at home :)

Films are really important to me so we have a bottle of wine or couple of beers, snuggle under a blanket, turn off the lights and have a huge bowl of warm sweet and salted popcorn

We plan ahead on what we'd like to watch and make sure the kids are in bed at the usual time. Doors closed so the sound doesnt travel. And a nice calming herbal tea and some biscuits.

Great food, snacks, a bottle of wine and a great movie. Plus the kids behaving so that you can we can have some peace.

Start by choosing a film we both want to watch! Be realistic about getting the children settled so that we can have a chilled night. Usually buy a M&S two for £10 meal which come with a lovely bottle of wine. No gadgets or phones!

movie nights always cause a massive debate!
Once we finally agree on what to watch we normally have lights out all phones off, box of maltesers and a nice glass of diet coke

Ideally children at grandparents for the night ( vv rare treat!). Also don't answer the door! as its usually the neighbours wanting us to go around theirs (which is nice but NOT a date night!).

Well, I'm a single parent, so no romantic movie nights for me unfortunately, but DS and I like to watch a Disney movie on a late Friday afternoon, and I enjoy a bit of Netflix with a cup of tea and bar of chocolate occasionally.

Get prepared and set the atmosphere like it is in the cinema with no lighting, yummy snacks and drinks!

Make sure that the kids are safely in bed. No other distractions (ie. phone, tablet, book) a good film, chocolates and two bottles of wine.

We choose between a movie on sky or netflix withno phones or electronics beeping at us so we stash these away, dim the lights and snuggle under a blanket with popcorn or chocolate with a beer for my OH and a nice cup of tea for me.

Decide on a film you will both enjoy, not ll people enjoy rom-com's! Some favourite drinks and snacks to hand, snuggle on the sofa and all tech switched off, not on silent etc and do not forget to unplug your home phone too, people can be without contacting you for a couple of hours... Just like pre mobile days, how did people ever survive not sending inane messages x times a day! :)

AS the children are older, film night is now family film night. Its quite rare and all the more special for it. We take it in turns to choose and ( hopefully ) no interuptions

For s great evening, phones off, no iPad, kids asleep and sit down to eat and watch a film which we have both wanted to see for ages. The fact that the chance comes up so rarely to spend an evening this way makes it all the better.

Takeaway on movie night/date night.. but it usually gets eaten before the title music is done!! No booze though, or I genuinely won't make it to the end before falling asleep Grin

We always have a ready meal on a movie night in so neither of us has to cook or wash up.
Snuggling up on the sofa with the dog at our feet and a glass of wine is where we like to be. I always get the choice of film!

Buy a nice bottle of wine, make a plate of yummy nibbles and cheeses, light a few candles and watch you wedding video together ;-)
