So the kids are in bed. That means that the grand Movie Date Night In is ON. We want to know how such romantic nights go in your home.

How do you decide which movies to watch with your OH and who gets the final say? Are there any films you’re looking forward to seeing this summer?

What you do to make these evenings special? Do you perhaps have a special movie dinner or snack you love to make? Are there homemade cocktails or mocktails or just a glass of something cold? And if you have any memorable Date Night In moments you want to share, we'd love to hear about them.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “With Sky Cinema, it’s easy to find something to watch this summer. We've got the ten biggest blockbusters of 2016 available on demand, as well as new premieres every day. From Bridget Jones’ Baby to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them”

All who share their movie date night tips in a post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Nice meal and a cosy blanket. Rom coma and dramas are our favourite.

We take turns to choose a movie as DH likes sci-fi or action and I like something a bit more, er, "soft" I suppose. For instance on Christmas night we watched (in my insistence) "Love Actually" as I'd never seen it. It was rubbish but we both had a laugh and it was very Christmassy! We'll usually share a bottle of red, or I'll have it to myself if it is a Friday night as DH plays football on a Saturday Gin

Phones away, a jointly picked film, and snacks

We light the wood burner. About half way through we have a tea break. And choosing the film takes about 50% of the evening. Not because we argue but because we love discussing all the films and get sidetracked by the overwhelming choice.

We bring pillows down and make a bed on the floor! Lots of blankets and me falling asleep halfway through! Thoroughly enjoy it.

Movie nights are a rarity - between getting the kids in bed & our general state of knackeredness its a real treat to sit down to a movie.

We always snuggle up on the sofa with a really decent glass of wine & some grown up chocolates from our stash (in the high cupboards where the kids can't reach) & possibly a mint magnum.

I love watching films at home as I can get comfy and enjoy really nice wine....no chance of that in the cinema.

wine. Lots of wine.

Good chocolate, the sort that costs a small fortune, is very dark and is hidden from children.

If it's 'date night' then no film that's depressing or upsetting, and finishes early enough that we're not too knackered for romance. Grin

Pop corn boxes like they sell in the cinema. Good film, all the quilts and pillows down from upstairs.

DH works nights so this is a treat. Usually a film we've been waiting ages to see, sometimes an old favourite. We usually end up chatting or dozing through it anyway Blush Baked Camembert, crusty bread and red wine. Rum babas to follow and a snuggle on the sofa. Bliss! Favourite way to spend an evening Smile

My favourite movie nights are at Christmas time. We love to stock up the fridge with ice cold fizz. Then i set a table out with meats, breads, crisps dips and cheeses.

Chocolates for after.

My favourite snuggle blanket. I get the final say on film - love a good drama. If I'm feeling brave a horror!

I've been looking forward to Logan for ages. When I saw it advertised with Johnny Cash's version of Hurt, I knew I had to watch it.

I like to light a nice smelling candle (fave ones just now are some lovely beachy expensive ones for summer). Then we snuggle down and share some tubs of ice cream. Or not share, as the case may be.

Generally too busy or tired to watch a whole film at night so we pick a series we like and abandon laptops and phones to watch it. As much as I love the new Twin Peaks it's not the ideal romantic date night choice, too mind bending-ly weird.

We had similar tastes, so it was rarely a battle. He even tolerated Star Trek.

It has to be jug of Pimm's and a bowl of good quality pasta, creme fraiche and smoked salmon.

Cups of tea, pyjamas, blankets ... sometimes we lie in bed (propped up against pillows) and watch it on the iPad, which means one of us has to sort of prop it up on our knee, but OTOH it also means we're snug.

We have only been together a few years so film choice is often something one of us loves and the other has never seen - or something we both regretted missing a few years ago before we had anyone to watch films with Grin

We have always had a system which works really well for picking a movie. One of us makes a shortlist of about 4 that we would like to watch, and then the other person picks from the shortlist.

We usually have dinner and wine in front of the movie after DH has finished cooking.

We make a list of films we like the look of through the year but can't get to the cinema to watch. It could be any genre.

Wine, candles, nibbles & snuggled up on the sofa with the lights off and surround sound on like we're in a tiny cinema.

We are quite cheap dates on our Movie Date Nights.
The enjoyment is being entirely relaxed, engrossed in a great film (usually based on recommendation or the 'one we meant to see at the cinema but didn't get round to it' films). Usually wearing PJs (me), with a mug of tea (me), beer (DH) and a bar of chocolate.
No phones, no laptop.
It a foot massage is involved it is elevated to beyond-bliss.
Simple but lovely.
Our 'no frills' movie night. We love it.

We take it in turns to choose a film, I like horror and my husband likes sci-fi so we hit the jackpot if we find something that is both!

DH and I have quite an overlap of films we both like - generally science fiction / superheroes works for both of us. Although the final choice tends to be dictated more by what's available on TV.

The most important thing is to get all the kids into bed early. They're very good at disrupting film nights. And then cosy up together with a drink and a sharing bag of crisps.

Weekly family film nights here! Pizza followed by popcorn. We take turns deciding what to watch from the options available on Sky cinema. Great after a busy week and requires very little effort.

Joint choice of film. Looking forward to seeing Dunkirk this summer. Usually a nice glass of wine and a few nice nibbles.

rather than have the TV on or watch films, we listen to music, can alter the playlist according to mood.

We normally spend copious amounts of time deciding on something we'd both enjoy. Normally by the time we do we are both too tired to watch the film.

Generally though I try to keep the iPad shut and we sometimes get a take-away.
