So the kids are in bed. That means that the grand Movie Date Night In is ON. We want to know how such romantic nights go in your home.

How do you decide which movies to watch with your OH and who gets the final say? Are there any films you’re looking forward to seeing this summer?

What you do to make these evenings special? Do you perhaps have a special movie dinner or snack you love to make? Are there homemade cocktails or mocktails or just a glass of something cold? And if you have any memorable Date Night In moments you want to share, we'd love to hear about them.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “With Sky Cinema, it’s easy to find something to watch this summer. We've got the ten biggest blockbusters of 2016 available on demand, as well as new premieres every day. From Bridget Jones’ Baby to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them”

All who share their movie date night tips in a post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Kids are sound asleep
Chinese food is on its way
Plenty of popcorn to hand
A bottle of wine chilled and ready to down
Your perfect other half next to you
A new film that you both haven't seen on and your devices switched off
That is what makes the perfect date night for us :)

Try and get film ideas before the night in question! Nothing worse than bickering or being indecisive about what to watch while you're trying to enjoy yourselves

We recently had one, G&T followed by steak for dinner, and then sat down and watched miss peregrine's home for peculiar children without having to share the crisps with the kids.

Agreeing on a film is probably the hardest thing to do, so we sometimes take turns deciding on what to watch, but mainly we watch an "old" movie that we haven't seen for a while and both enjoyed (The Matrix)

Kick the teens out into the other room and compromise on a thriller instead of an action movie is about as good as it gets 🎬

I actually prefer to watch films in bed with DH rather than go out to the cinema.... plus then we don't need to arrange or pay for a babysitter!

We usually eat a share bag of chocolates- far too fast!!

We don't get out much with 2 under 5's so 'date night' is always once a week after 8pm!

We like to watch a film whilst lying in bed, glass of wine in hand and lots of goodies to eat on the bed!

Lots of comfy pillows to prop us up and a good tv / sound system to feel like our own little cinema

Along with our 3 cats of course!

We like to make a smorgasbord dinner. Lots of different meats, cheeses, crackers, olives, pickles .... oh and wine. Wine is a must.

We like to watch daft comedies or historical dramas. We pretend we are civilised (then deal with the dishes in the morning!).

We have Sky & one of my fave pastimes is looking at the Sky store trailers (rock & roll!). For our next movie night we will be watching Get Out based on recommendations & trailer. We tend to alternate our choices although he's not so keen on Beauty & the Beast.
Depending what time the kids go to bed it will be dinner first or takeaway on lap while watching the film. Ideally a glass of Champagne or Prosecco accompanied with popcorn for me & mini Cadbury bites for him. No phones, laptops etc & ideally no pausing.

Date nights in are a must after having children, we will tell the children this is our special night and they are to be in their rooms if not sleeping then reading by a certain time and we will generally either have a pizza or a take away and a bottle of wine and watch a movie, sky cinema offers some great new premieres, we love action and thriller movies

We love having a film date night. Having small children it's a chance to have a bit of peace and quiet together and unwind.
Some times we'll watch a film over a take away, but more often than not we have homemade popcorn, maybe some cookies if the kids and I have been baking and a cup of tea (rock and roll Grin).
Our choice of film is either from recommendations or just us browsing and choosing something we agree on!

We put our phones away, turn the lights off and snuggle up under fluffy blankets.

Love movie night!

Dh begins browsing film choices the day before, we choose together. We order a takeaway, snuggle on the recliner under a blanket and watch the film on the projector for a big screen.

We've stopped paying for sky and instead use date nights to pick a movie from amazon prime - you pay for it but cheaper and easier than getting to the cinema!

Get some nice wine and popcorn and it can be even better thuan the cinema...

Well the hubby and I have very different taste in movies but we meet in the middle with popcorn fare action such as the Taken films (or anything else with Liam Nielsen!).

Budweiser and curry are the food and drinks of choice and a big bar of dairy milk chopped nuts for after, yum :)

We love our weekly scheduled date night which often includes watching a film at home. We both enjoy working our way through all the award movies but are both quite flexible if there's something the other has been particularly wanting to watch. We always have a 'special' dinner beforehand, still homecooked but one from our 'home comforts' list and we enjoy a pudding, usually chocolate cake or apple pie and custard whilst the movie is on.

Take it in turns to choose a movie, such a big selection with sky that it's never an issue finding one we both want!

Wine, (White for me, red for DH), "snacky bits" - olives / cheese etc and a cosy blanket to tuck around us as I snuggle into my DH

Perfect movie night

Wine for me, cushions in good position, lying back onto DH with his arm around me. Film that I haven't seen before - DH usually gives me a choice of three and then I pick one. Partway through, have a pause to make tea and get biscuits/chocolate. Food is very important in movie watching!Grin And definitely no double-screening. It diminishes the experience.

We love a good film night! Our top tips are;

  • Pick the film BEFORE you settle down ready to watch it, otherwise you spend half the evening trawling through a load of guff on Netflix, none of which you can agree on!

  • Make it comfy.. but not so comfy you drift off mid-film.

  • No phones/tablets/laptops - it's tempting, but you only end up missing the crucial bits of the film & annoying your partner by asking what you've missed!

  • Getting all snacks & drinks ready so hopefully no one has to get up for the duration of the film.

  • Lights dimmed.. ready to go!

We take it in turns once our littlest is in bed to pick a movie and then cuddle up on the sofa, usually DH will put his head on my lap and we watch without snacks or distractions and often DH will fall asleep :)
