So the kids are in bed. That means that the grand Movie Date Night In is ON. We want to know how such romantic nights go in your home.

How do you decide which movies to watch with your OH and who gets the final say? Are there any films you’re looking forward to seeing this summer?

What you do to make these evenings special? Do you perhaps have a special movie dinner or snack you love to make? Are there homemade cocktails or mocktails or just a glass of something cold? And if you have any memorable Date Night In moments you want to share, we'd love to hear about them.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “With Sky Cinema, it’s easy to find something to watch this summer. We've got the ten biggest blockbusters of 2016 available on demand, as well as new premieres every day. From Bridget Jones’ Baby to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them”

All who share their movie date night tips in a post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

DH doesn't much care for films and DC don't go to bed much before 10pm so tete a tete adult film nights aren't really a thing in our house. But I love it when we have a family movie night - normally involving spaceships or superheroes and takeaway pizza - with red wine for the grown ups and red Shloer for the DC. Top tip is to read the reviews beforehand. Life's too short to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 6 or whatever.

For us, the ultimate film night is a sci-fi or fantasy film while we curl up together on the sofa with a curry feast and a bottle glass of wine.

If we have a movie night as a family I always insist on phones/tablets being turned off and out of the way and my favourite snack to make to munch on is home made popcorn, made the old fashioned way in a saucepan. My kids love to hear it popping Grin

Yy to devices off.

Popcorn, pate, cheese and biscuits or maybe order a takeaway for the start or the show.

Lights off, curtains closed and lots of blankets.

We take it in turns to choose films bit have quite similar tastes.

I'm not that fussed about films, but my DH generally finds ones that he knows I'll like, usually a thriller. We have crisps or popcorn, blankets and cushions. Curtains closed, drinks chilled and then off to a bed with fresh bedlinen and the alarm turned off.

Date night with myself! DS in bed at a reasonable time, quick soak in the bath and jammies on, a nice snack or pizza if I haven't had dinner, wine at hand, lights down. The remote control - and choice of film - is all mine!

Planning! Choose a film we'll both enjoy, get movie snacks in, order a take-away pizza and wear the children out playing outside all day so they won't interrupt!

It can be an effort to find a film we both want to watch, so it works best when there's a new film out we are both looking forward to seeing -otherwise we can spend ages trying to agree!
Popcorn or similar is essential, and I like to get into my pjs first!

DD is too young for sweet treats so we like to properly indulge on movie nights once she's in bed and can't see - usually with a big bowl of expensive ice cream.

More of a box set and snack kind of thing in our house!

My attention span is really poor, so I often can't sit through a whole movie. So we plan to watch a TV show together like GofT - and watch next to each other on the sofa and don't play with phones and iPads. Popcorn makes the night!

If at home then an Indian takeaway, good wine and fairy lights. Phones off. I'm in charge of remote controls as someone in our house is deaf from too many punk rock gigs over the years and has the hearing of a ninety year old. Gin and tonics and microwave popcorn for dessert.
The dog sits in the middle. Always.😊
Selecting a film always involves at least half an hour of procrastinating on Amazon or netflix, arguing over the price making sure the children are really asleep.

On the rare occasion we got to the cinema we always take a carrier bags of goodies including a mini bottle of vodka to put in the ice blast slushes. C-lassy!

Movie date night is putting our comfies on, ordering a pizza and sitting on the floor eating it like it's a picnic and then building a for out of the 2 sofa and snuggling in that whilst watching a film. Must be a classic like forest gump or Jerry Maguire!Smile

The kids never go to bed early enough so all of us watch the movie!

We try to vary the genre of film that we watch on movie nights, so one night it will be a thriller, the next time maybe a comedy and then a historical drama. We find that by subscribing to a streaming service that we watch things we wouldn't have done if we were choosing and buying a film in a shop - and have discovered some great films in the process!

Movie night isn't movie night without an ice cream (mint magnums are the current favourite!). Phones and social media are banned and lights are usually off.

We struggle to choose a film we both want to watch tbh! But usually dh picks because I'm not as bothered, I don't usually have the concentration for a whole movie anyway unless it's something I really really want to see. We always have chocolate and I definitely get involved with that part! Often beer and g&t as well.

We lead such busy lives (four children and both working) that these date nights are very rare! We try to watch a film together every once in a while and I will snack and have a glass of vino whilst my other half eats the healthy stuff!

Ban phones
light a candle
pick a film (something funny we will both enjoy)
order pizza
open wine
get popcorn
snuggle up (try not to get too cosy and fall asleep!)

Bliss!

We regularly have movie nights and really look forward to them. The way it works is that one of us chooses three movies they would like to watch ( either purely selfish choices, or with the other one in mind!) and then present the three choices to their OH to choose one of them to watch.
We also have snacks, either microwave popcorn or nuts and we have a nice glass of wine or gin and tonic too.
It's a great system for us and we love our films.

Love movies. Fortunately the other half and I arfe on the same wave length as far as they are concerned. We like comedies mainly (a break from the pressures of every day life) & then if non available that we haven't watched a good thriller. Love a good film!

My partner and i go and buy party food from icelands consisting of mini pizzas, mozerella sticks, chicken satay sticks, prawn skewers etc. We take about an hour to choose a film from sky box office. I usually get the final say lol. Its mostly a horror. We wait until our 6month old son is asleep to watch it. The movie usually gets paused a few times due to my partner having fag n tea breaks which annoys me.

It's got to be something funny/lighthearted. We put the lamps on, light the fire if it's winter, get all cosy ... I often buy some special "treat" snacks that we wouldn't usually have. Sometimes we have a film night/cocktail night combination which is great fun.

How do you decide which movies to watch with your OH and who gets the final say? We each take turns in which movie to pick. But mostly we pick by our mood. So for instance a psycholoigcal drama will be thought prevoking it can instantly evoke an interesting question and answer session or leave us confused and speechless to come up with our own alternative ending its quite fun and unexpected.

What you do to make these evenings special? Its the general thought of just spending the evening together it doesnt happen that often and it just pure bliss when it does. Nothing fancy just a chilled evening cuddling of the sofa with whatever food we fancy eating. Dim lights or a dark room with the candles flickering in the background a cuddly blanket to keep warm and cosy. If its a long awaited event we revel in deciding what treats we shall be eating plenty of icecream and chocolate after a takeaway or homemade fakeaway to make it extra special with a favourite tipple.
