Over the past few wintry months you'd be forgiven for feeling like the icy starts and shorter days were never going to end. However, now that the days are drawing out and it’s light into the evenings, it’s great to be able to start spending more time outdoors, getting some fresh air. Arla Big Milk would like to hear about your plans to spend more time outside and ensure your children get the fresh air they need and some much-needed Vitamin D, now that spring is here.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk have to say: “We know it's important your little ones get the nutrients they need to fuel their amazing growth and development. Arla Big Milk is fresh cow's milk enriched with Vitamin D, A and Iron so you can be sure they are getting what they need when consumed as part of a balanced diet.”

Maybe you’re looking forward to getting the barbecue out without there being a downpour. Or you might be planning longer family walks with your dog or perhaps you’re looking forward to spending time in the park so your toddler can use up their excess energy? If you expect resistance from the kids, what might be your cunning plans be to persuade them to join you outdoors? Share your plans for being out in the fresh air with Arla Big Milk below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

I walk my dog twice a day when working. I will increase this to several times a day now the better weather is here.

Gardening! We can't just relax and chill with the kids (ages 2 and 4) as they need to be busy and involved with us, so we are going to revamp both gardens this year. We've already started on the front and the kids have helped us dig holes, find worms, and find sticks. It's been great fun and really productive which makes a change.

We also have the first bikes for the kids which means we are getting out and about on those, learning to ride them.

BBQ's are a weekly must!

As it gets warmer we will also start car washing, using the paddling pool, and having water fights. Mummy sometimes gets tiddly and sets up the slip'n'slide too, which everyone loves!

We love exploring area around us, finding new parks and playgrounds. My daughter loves long walks! :)

ElizaW922 · 10/04/2017 21:34

I've bought a picnic basket and a blanket for a long summer of picnics and excursions, and also a book with a lot of local walks that allow dogs, so my family, plus dogs are raring to go this year!

Joined the National Trust last year and no end of outdoor places to visit. We do get out and about all the time - if we go for a walk I make a list of things the children have to find - such as - lady with 2 or more dogs, dandelion, sign with yellow on, running water, etc. They love it.
We've also recently discovered geocaching which has been loads of fun Smile

I love the outdoors and i've always enjoyed walking, annoyingly i have problems with walking- basically it hurts! So although i thought by now that i'd be a rambler with a pair of hiking boots and a a big walking stick, i'm more likely to end up with a regular walking stick!

It doesn't stop me from wanting to be or getting outside- i just wont bloody let it!

I take walks with regular breaks, i stop, let my back crack and walk a bit more. We're finishing off our garden this year- it's been a 10 year battle with the garden full of Triffids but it is so close now! The kid has a swing and a trampoline so getting her outside is easy!! I've got plenty of seating and some fruit trees to enjoy looking at. This year is all about spending time in the garden and really making the most of it before that cold weather comes back!

My brother lives in Bournemouth and my Dad is always keen to take the drive down (approx 3 hours)- there's nothing like spending the day on the beach, sun screen on, hats on, dipping your feet in the sea! We even have our own deck chairs! Our first trip of the year is Friday. ROADTRIP!!!

Picnics are a fantastic way to get outside and explore the countryside! Also things such a completion events eg bike races or Easter eggs hunts can encourage endless hours in the fresh air! There are also some lovely little day trips to farms which are also rather educational!

rhinosuze · 11/04/2017 07:35

Picnics park going to the local beach are all things we do. We also walk to the shops where possible.

Also there is the Christmas bike to get using for my little one now so I'm sure there will be plenty of hours practicing on that to come.

I don't mind winter though, she thinks wellies are great which always made her want to go out

I took on a new allotment earlier in the spring. It was completely overgrown and weedy and I have been itching to get on and clear it and whip it into shape. But my first effort has been to clear a patch of ground on which I have put what I can only describe as an infant fun park; I have built a mud kitchen complete with a sink, hooks, rail and potions rack, sunk a small indoor exercise trampoline into the ground, put up a decrepit old swing frame, dug a small pond, and provided a pile of blocks of wood and planks of varying lengths. It's all been gifted or sourced from skips, free cycle or charity shops, so the outlay has been minimal. Now I am able to spend a considerable amount of time (I'm talking 4 or 5 hours at a stretch -yay!) sorting the rest of the plot out, without interruptions or whinging. Bliss. My DDs (3 and 6) love spending the day at the allotment, and get themselves ready in a jiffy when it's time to go.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 11/04/2017 09:32

We live next door to our village recreation ground and have fields beyond that so as soon as the weather improves the kids basically live out there and I can watch them play from the kitchen!

Mozarmstrong · 11/04/2017 09:40

Walking is free exploring countryside just breathing in all around after winter months! Get out there x

OutandIntoday · 11/04/2017 18:13

The trampoline has been put back into commission after winter recently and our newest purchase, a hammock, has been installed in the garden. Kids are loving the warmer weather and being able to chill!

danigrace · 11/04/2017 20:57

When what we really want to do is go and sit on a blanket somewhere peaceful that doesn't really appeal to the children, but if we say lets go for a picnic and we can dip our feet in the stream and look for fairies it all of a sudden becomes an amazing outdoor adventure!

GiraffesAndButterflies · 11/04/2017 22:20

Well it's pretty simple but throwing some big soft balls outside gets my two charging about all excited. They must have low standards GrinHmm

Rigbyroo · 12/04/2017 10:38

I have to be prepared the night before for all weathers otherwise I know I will be rushing around and lose all enthusiasm. My going out bag is heavy and overflowing! Wellies and puddlesuits at the door and ready to go!

StickChildNumberTwo · 12/04/2017 12:41

My littlest has just mastered getting up the slide by himself, so constantly wants to be in the back garden. I'm hoping that means we'll all spend more time out there this year - we tend towards being bookworms in our house, so need persuading to get outside.

ILikeBigBumpsAndICannotLie · 12/04/2017 14:37

I've bought myself a scooter, so I can whizz around the park too.

tishist · 13/04/2017 03:12

Geocaching is a great idea that my friends use to explore outdoors.

MichaelSheensNextDW · 17/04/2017 14:42

We live ten minutes' walk from where hot air balloons take off every evening from 6pm. Lots of people gather there to wave them off. On a sunny evening we take a picnic supper to eat and then have hot chocolate when we get home.

HalimaB · 19/04/2017 00:21

We've already had picnics in the park since these glorious spring days have graced us doesnt take much persuading as kids love outdoors they use their excess energy having a good runaround and finish off with a picnic

catgirl2 · 19/04/2017 11:28

Using our new garden! For the first time we have a garden with grass and turf is being laid as I speak! So excited for this summer
