Over the past few wintry months you'd be forgiven for feeling like the icy starts and shorter days were never going to end. However, now that the days are drawing out and it’s light into the evenings, it’s great to be able to start spending more time outdoors, getting some fresh air. Arla Big Milk would like to hear about your plans to spend more time outside and ensure your children get the fresh air they need and some much-needed Vitamin D, now that spring is here.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk have to say: “We know it's important your little ones get the nutrients they need to fuel their amazing growth and development. Arla Big Milk is fresh cow's milk enriched with Vitamin D, A and Iron so you can be sure they are getting what they need when consumed as part of a balanced diet.”

Maybe you’re looking forward to getting the barbecue out without there being a downpour. Or you might be planning longer family walks with your dog or perhaps you’re looking forward to spending time in the park so your toddler can use up their excess energy? If you expect resistance from the kids, what might be your cunning plans be to persuade them to join you outdoors? Share your plans for being out in the fresh air with Arla Big Milk below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

We love getting out in the garden and asking my LO to water the plants is a great way of encouraging her out as she likes the responsibility and also loves her 'big girl' watering can and giving the plants a 'drink'. Then once she's outside she tends to stay out for ages, mainly getting sandy in her sand pit!

Abis04 · 04/04/2017 19:48

Can't wait to get out for long walks by the river with the dog and kids

Ashhead24 · 04/04/2017 20:05

DS loves being outside, looking at bugs, stomping in puddles and running around. It's more of a struggle to get him back in at the end of the day.

mishknight · 04/04/2017 22:13

so long as I let my little girl ride her bike she'll go anywhere. So this is what I do to encourage her outdoors. Also packing a picnic is a nice sweetener as well.

Lots of walks, time in the park, play in the garden, scooter rides etc. My two are always outside and they love it.

Sillysausage123 · 05/04/2017 08:18

Pokemon has been great for getting my son out and about now he is getting a bit big for parks.
We also have a dog and I've drummed into him when it's good weather we take her for a long walk somewhere new

Andbabymakesthree · 05/04/2017 08:56

We have a game called go find it in glovebox. It's a deck of cards with different nature inspired things to find. With wellies and coat it is a way to have fun anytime!

We are going to spend quality time in the garden. It will be hopefully be renovated in a few weeks and a goalpost will be going up to encourage them to play football (while I sit in the summerhouse having a tipple)

Katylyn · 05/04/2017 12:13

My kids are at the age they really need to be persuaded to get outdoors. This is generally achieved by switching off the wifi router and telling them to get on their bikes!
Once outside it's difficult to get them back in.

AngelwingsPetlamb · 05/04/2017 13:04

All I ever need is a football and a best friend to accompany my dc to get him outside. Failing that, any offer of tree climbing, camp building or biking off road generally does the trick.
Snacks, drinks and a change of clothes are a must.

I am planning lots of family bbqs to get everyone out side and having family time

lolly2010 · 05/04/2017 14:51

We go hunting Pokemon, take the scooters and bikes when we go on holiday in the UK. I get the kids to help in the garden, planting vegetable seeds. We take snacks and meet up with friends. We take lots of out door toys with us. We go to the park with friends, so that kids can climb trees and go on the swings etc with a bit of freedom.

SpandexPandas · 05/04/2017 14:53

We do lots of woodland walks all through the year come rain or shine, but you absolutely cannot beat the woods in the summer! Paddling in the stream, a disposable bbq or a picnic, looking for minibeasts, playing ball. Running around on the grass with no shoes and socks on, climbing trees and staying outside late into the evening when the bats start flying by your head! Love the summer! Can't wait for more days like these!!!

Samparkes · 05/04/2017 19:47

Where I live as soon as the weather gets better and the evenings lighter all the kids are out playing including my 8yr old on their bikes or in my back garden on the trampoline. For Easter we have some activities organised as fortunate to live by the country side so we will be going pond dipping for tadpoles, Easter nature trails and days at the park. As soon as the suns out so are we to make the most of it.

Cookies77 · 05/04/2017 20:28

Evening strolls after dinner!

kaycm25 · 05/04/2017 20:53

I'm looking forward to bbq's-my dad does the best bbq's and we only managed 1 last year. We also have a puppy so hoping to get out for lots of trips to the park with the kids and him.

ashleywhit · 05/04/2017 20:55

If anything my son has to drag me outside! I feel cold constantly!! But once we get goongnits fab! We finally have our own garden and today we had a fantastic times! We both mowed the grass (Oscar has his toy mower) pulled some weeds, played sand pits, cars and chalked the pavements! We will also be exploring the area this week as they have a couple of park and some lovely green spaces to go see! 😁🏡

babyann · 05/04/2017 21:33

so looking forward to getting out and going on adventures! Lots of theme parks, country parks and anywhere else the kids (and us!) can burn off some steam through the holidays

spaghettisuey · 05/04/2017 21:58

My kids and I got into running using the couch to 5k plan a couple of years ago. Now My husband, myself and two of our kids do the 5k park run every Saturday morning. In the lighter weather, we also go for runs after school. They love it, and feel good afterwards so no persuasion needed there.
When they were younger, taking scooters and bikes made a 'boring walk' much more appealing, especially with the promise of an icecream at the end. (That also works for me at age 46 😀).

user1490475476 · 05/04/2017 22:10

It's all about the garden now with my 3 kids. Swing slide play house sand pit football and cars we could live out there plus trips to the farm at weekend whoop whoop

gemmahendry1990 · 05/04/2017 22:18

i have a 1 year old daughter who i want to show the world to, so from feeding ducks, to going to zoo, from going to park to taking a boat ride we will be getting out in fresh air as much as possible

mrsdeedow · 05/04/2017 22:27

we do lots of scavenger hunts, I write lists depending on the season and then we walk until we tick everything off, items range from the common crisp packet to the harder to find ladybird

malisa · 05/04/2017 23:24

Oh yes! We plan our trips to the local park. This makes not only pleasurable walk for whole family but also exercise and fun with certain aspects of learning. We like to observe all changes in the park depends on season and children are very quick in noticing all.
