To celebrate Mother’s Day, Co-op wants to find out what would make your mother’s day this coming Sunday. Maybe she’s a Mum with simple tastes, and a card or bunch of flowers will suffice to make her really happy? Or perhaps you’re going all out this year, inviting her around for a meal and a day spent with the family. If you’re taking a more creative approach, perhaps you’ll be making her gifts by yourself, or just planning a day together for some one-on-one time with you - maybe brunch and the cinema? As a mum, tell us what would make your day extra special?

Here’s what Co-op has to say: “This Mother’s Day we want everyone to think about their mum and how to make it really personal and special to her. To not only buy the usual expected mother’s day gifts, but to really think about what makes your mum happy. Because only when you really know your mum can you really make it her day.”

Whatever it is that you’re going to do to make your mother’s day really special, Co-op wants to know. Please share your thoughts below - everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw and one MNer will win a £300 Co-op vouchers.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Mum has been in a nursing home since November 2016 so we couldn't take her out for dinner but we bought her flowers (tulips & Daffs) and her favourite chocolates (Thorntons) and gave her a card

The only thing I wanted for mothers day was a nice cup of coffee and lots of cuddles from my 5 children. I was woken to a lovely cup of coffee, toast and lots of home made cards, flowers and bubble bath. x

we got her lots of personalised and homemade gifts showing her how special she is

I think most Mum's would just like to know that they are appreciated as they are typically the one who is the center of the family. They are the ones that keep house, carry out a taxi service, they are the fetcher and carrier, nurse, cook and have masses of love for their family. Just a thank you Mum now and then goes a long way. The flowers, chocolate and especially the wine is appreciated, but a big Thank you is really what they want.

Honestly my mum has always said and I'm a strong believer in it. Just telling your mum that you love her everyday that what makes it worth everything xx

For my mum it starts with breakfast in bed, then the grand kids come round to hers to visit and bring pressies, then we all go out for a lovely sunday lunch at the local pub.

I try to think about for a good month before and take note of what she says in conversation to me. That way I can buy her something she wants and also take her out to do something nice.

Reow · 03/04/2017 16:28

Stay in bed all day!

Mariasoad · 03/04/2017 16:31

The best ever cards are the homemade ones the children make in school.

emmamed123 · 03/04/2017 17:15

I had a lovely Mothers Day, my youngest daughter made me a bracelet out of pipe cleaners and i am still wearing it. She kept telling me through the day how she loves me, i kept hearing her say "mummy love you". All the children made me cards and they are still on display in the kitchen, so they fill me with joy each time i go in there.

IonaAilidh11 · 03/04/2017 17:28

best present was homemade cards and breakfast in bed

StephanieKeill86 · 03/04/2017 17:59

What would make my mothers day is seeing my own mother, as it doesn't happen often as she has lived in the USA for fifteen years and I'm in Scotland, last time I seen her was four years ago.

dizzytina · 03/04/2017 18:03

For me mothers day is really important. My mum is an amazing women and my role model and I dont tell or show her enough but i do make a realy fuss on Mothers Day.

My daughter is 11 nd she is now old enough to make me lovely Mothers Day keepsakes and help make me breakfast in bed. This year she made such a beautiful card and to me thats what is special.

matphil · 03/04/2017 18:12

My mum likes taking care of people and helping them so an ideal Mother's Day for her would be to have all her children there for a lovely roast dinner as she loves to feed us all.
We would help her make the dinner though and do all the washing up, I'm sure that would make her happy.

Bestbuddy77 · 03/04/2017 18:27

Myself & my mum are booked in to visit Ragdale Hall spa. It's what we have done for Mother's Day for the last 4 years. It's amazing mother daughter time together.

bevmichelle47 · 03/04/2017 18:31

All the family together having a nice country meal, even mum,dad and grandmother.

lindseystuart855 · 03/04/2017 18:59

Mothers day is a lovely excuse to relax with my mum and my little girl,
I always make my mum a nice lemon drizzle cake for Mothers day I pop it in a cake tin and travel to her home to collect her to take her out for a meal then we go for a stroll along Cullen beach and then return back to mums to watch a box set! :)

lizziefield1982 · 03/04/2017 19:00

My mum would just love time! She lives a few hours away and I have a one year old, and am pregnant with the next, so we don't really get time to finish a conversation ever. Next year I am adamant I shall make time for lunch and a nice walk, just us!

michaela2002 · 03/04/2017 19:10

i would love to make up to my mum the mothers day brekkie i made her when i was about 7..... it consisted of 2 pickled eggs and a glass of straight martini ..... i did try promise. if i won i would treat her to some gorgous ingrediants to make her an amazing vegetarian gluton free breakfast and fantastic flowers and chocolates . thankyou ♥

Minnibix · 03/04/2017 19:26

A lovely meal (not cooked by me) with all the family would be a real treat

Purplehonesty · 03/04/2017 19:34

We spent the whole day together - it's been ages since I did that.

I made lunch and we went for a walk on the beach and then back to ours, pottered about the gardens and had a Chinese for tea.

It was a super day. Unfortunately the next day I ended up in hospital with pneumonia (had thought it was just a cold) but I'm sure it wasn't anything to do with mum!!
