Lidl know that some of us prefer spending Valentine’s Day at home to venturing out into packed restaurants with hearts everywhere during a freezing February. Lidl have everything in store for the perfect night in, offering all you need for a French-themed dinner to gifts and bottles of bubbly - and they would love to hear how would you spend your dream V-day at home.

What’s the perfect romantic meal for two? Do you prefer classic red roses or truffle chocolates? What’s your ideal tipple for the night? Do you open gifts while listening to romantic music or is a night on the sofa with a movie more your thing?

Whether you are spending Valentine's day with your significant other, having a ‘Galentines’ (girls only) day, or simply enjoying an evening for one, tell us how you’d spend your dream V-day at home. Everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where 5 winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Lidl's prosecco is our favourite along with a tasty meal and some time to ourselves.

lizziefield1982 · 30/01/2017 13:48

I cook every night of the year I think so a meal cooked, whatever it is, by my husband would be perfect for me. If he thought up some creamy pasta delight even better. No booze for either of us as I am pregnant and he doesn't drink so some tasty juice and a tub of ice cream for pudding, served with two teaspoons straight out the tub. Chick flick on, he likes them too, and no internet on to distract us! Heaven...

jandoc · 30/01/2017 14:09

just a nice pampering day with face masks and massages would be good

TheCustomaryMethod · 30/01/2017 15:43

Chinese takeaway and a selection of real ales, to be consumed while watching back-to-back railway DVDs, because my husband and I are geeky trainspotting types Grin.

Gazelda · 30/01/2017 16:40

An easy to prepare meal, followed by a box of malteasers in front of the telly. Then an early night.
The reality is that Valentines Day falls during half term this year and for all sorts of logistical and childcare issues, school holidays are far more frantic than term time! So I'll probably be frazzled and grateful to just get into my comfy pjs.

A shed load of dim sum, champagne (Mojitos, Bottle of red..I am not fussed!) and watching box set after box set of some old school Sci-Fi series with my OH while eating popcorn (I will be wearing a sheet mask!) on the sofa, having a laugh, he presents me with an awesome pin badge or personalised Tatty Devine speech bubble necklace, I reciprocate with a Hellboy Tome he has been after, then a shoulder massage and bed!

bigwiggle · 30/01/2017 21:02

Valentines day at home would mean getting the kids to bed earlyish - then cracking open a bottle of wine, playing our favourite music and cooking a meal together.

buckley1983 · 30/01/2017 21:58

Our perfect Valentine evening would go as follows!..
Early night for LO! :)
A shared bath with a yummy Lush bath bomb.
Snuggling down in PJs to watch a good boxset..
Eating perfectly cooked steak, Dauphinoise potatoes & green beans.. followed by a family sized banoffee pie & 2 forks - no bowls, just dive straight in!
Perfect! :) x

Well my husband is working lates on Valentine's Day so he wont be back until 1.30am (he'll leave at 1pm) and i home educate our daughter so we probably wont get to do any Valentine's Day themed stuff before or after he leaves but to be honest i don't mind, i love my husband and he loves me and we show each other that everyday! If he were at home we probably would have just invested in a supermarket meal deal and cuddled on the sofa watching a movie or sat drawing (we're all pretty arty). We very rarely exchange gifts or cards and we've been together a decade. My dream Vday would be the same sort of day as every day. I sounds like such a sap!! Eurgh i'm one of 'those' people. Hahaha.

Smoked salmon parcels, Cheese fondue with steak, veg and bread to dip in, and chocolate fondant for pud. Red wine throughout and a brandy Alexander at the end.

Maybe a movie and the key element of our little one not calling out for us during the meal!

We would wake up with the little one and have some cheesy valentines breakfast bits, even including the cat, sharing the love all around! When she's gone to bed we will have a kir royal whilst making dinner... I'm planning on making my man his favourite pie in a heart shaped casserole dish, with our favourite triple cooked chips. Simple but a fair effort for me (I'm not renowned as the cook in our house, but he appreciates the effort!). Red wine will be served in our best wedding decanter and glasses. The man will make us after-dinner cocktails in our wedding cocktail glasses and we'll play a board game for after dinner entertainment, before the pretty lingerie comes out of course!

Joanakost · 31/01/2017 13:06

Valentines Day.. I might be crazy but since we got married we can never seem to spend them together due to work. since i always cook solo.. the best vday would be (since i picked up nori rolls and smoked salmon at lidl) to make sushi rolls together and experiment with the fillings and watching our toddler try to make them with us.
Followed by warmed sake for mommy and daddy and some divine creamy cheesecake laced in caramel (for hubby) and berries (for me)

WomanScorned · 31/01/2017 16:13

7 year old in bed with no fuss, then 'grown up' tiramisu, red wine and, best of all, control of the remote for for me. No-one to share it with means I get to choose whether to finish the lot, or to save some and repeat the whole thing a day or two later!

doctorboo · 31/01/2017 17:33

Simple Valentine evening here: steak dinner, yummy pudding and watching Netflix and that's only if the youngest goes to sleep before 9pm. If he's not in bed by 7.30 it'll be take away and a large glass of wine Blush Grin

Christmasnoooooooooooo · 31/01/2017 20:02

I did not know what v days was either and was going to past the thread by then I saw the lidi and I click on it .
My dream valentine date will be .
A lovely big bed with loads of white pillows. My fella arriving with a big bunch of flowers ( no man has ever bought be flowers ) and some champagne. Me ordering our favourite food ( if I was cooking it would be steak mushrooms jacket potatoes green vegetables it looks posh ish but it easy to cook. ) but I don't enjoy cooking so take way . Pudding would be a nice posh bought pudding.
So a nice dinner and bubbly in bed with film on with man I love .
Sadly very very very unlikely to happen so I will babysit for mate so she can spend the evening with her new man.

Lexilooo · 31/01/2017 21:34

An Italian meal, with antipasto, and red wine, chocolates and flowers, and an early night 😉

Mine would be a lovely bath with candles and a nice glass of fizz, but alone I don't like sharing my bath. Then a simple meal of steak and chips with a sauce served with a good bottle of red. I'd decorate the table nice too to make it an occassion. Then an hour just talking with music on then maybe a film. Then getting into a clean bed with white cotton hotel type bedding and nice flattering lightingWink.

sweir1 · 31/01/2017 22:36

A nice evening on the sofa, chinese, dvd and a bit of canoodling!

thekiwibex · 01/02/2017 00:44

With my husband on the couch, enjoying a foot rub, and sharing a bottle of prosecco and a box of Roses (which magically has none of the caramel or nut ones in it!).

cheerylilthing · 01/02/2017 01:12

A couple of years ago I recreated a meal we'd had in Paris at home - baked eggs in gravy, duck confit & lastly, profiteroles. Now we have a baby I can't spend all day in the kitchen so it'd be a deli platter starter followed by steak or mussels with fries & steamed vegetables (red wine jus with the steak made with a bottle of the £3-something Lidl merlot) & for dessert we'd have something like lemon merigue pie or chocolate cheesecake.

I'd have a glass of fresh, fruity white while my other half finished off the merlot & we'd watch something on catch up. We'd probably spend most of our time talking about our little boy so it'd need to be something that didn't require lots of attention.

Ladybirdtinselturd · 01/02/2017 09:45

Night in. Children in bed. Rib eye steaks, chips and a diane sauce. Followed by a huge cheesecake and cream.

prettybird · 01/02/2017 11:03

Griddled king prawns with home made aioli, some lamb and then dh's favourite dessert (the Danish Christmas pudding: a sweet rice risotto with chopped almonds and whipped cream).

Start off with some nice pink bubbly, then a fresh Sauvignon Blanc and then a nice Cabernet/Merlot blend with the lamb (we don't finish it all that night WinkWine)

sarahbrokenshire · 01/02/2017 13:14

I would love a 3 course Italian themed meal cooked for me - lots of chocolate and bubbles and a foot rub! x
