Lidl know that some of us prefer spending Valentine’s Day at home to venturing out into packed restaurants with hearts everywhere during a freezing February. Lidl have everything in store for the perfect night in, offering all you need for a French-themed dinner to gifts and bottles of bubbly - and they would love to hear how would you spend your dream V-day at home.

What’s the perfect romantic meal for two? Do you prefer classic red roses or truffle chocolates? What’s your ideal tipple for the night? Do you open gifts while listening to romantic music or is a night on the sofa with a movie more your thing?

Whether you are spending Valentine's day with your significant other, having a ‘Galentines’ (girls only) day, or simply enjoying an evening for one, tell us how you’d spend your dream V-day at home. Everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where 5 winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

watching a movie, having a nice meal, thats cooked by someone other than me !

cluckyhen · 28/01/2017 21:29

Dimmed lights, lovely scents wafting from the kitchen, my man slave bringing me a lovely cooked steak in little more than a tie with a nice chilled rose wine

Babydontcry · 28/01/2017 21:36

Valentine's Day will be me and my little boy, I will get some chocolates to share and might even get myself a glass of proseco once he has gone through to sleep!

cistolic · 28/01/2017 21:50

Valentine's Day with my own true love is all I'm wishing for,

snuggled on the sofa I couldn't wish for more.
No flowers or no fancy meal
our love's worth much, much more I feel.
That knowing smile, his loving look,
when I can read him like a book.
We'll reminisce and maybe kiss as the music plays our tune,
and maybe thank our lucky stars as we dance by the light of the moon.

My Valentines at home would be no kids for the night. Me not having to cook, I don't mind what we eat as long as I don't have to cook it. Maybe a bath, but that wouldn't be special to us as we do it every night but just to be able to sit down together and eat, have a chat or maybe listen to some music would be amazing :) followed by a early night ;)

juju3 · 28/01/2017 21:54

chocolate and champers with no interruptions

pfcpompeysarah · 28/01/2017 21:59

My ideal valentines would be one with no cooking whatsoever, just some lovely chinese takeaway food and a chilled bottle of rose wine to go with it, while curled up on the sofa watching a box set or film, its the simple things in life that give me the most pleasure, none of this fancy restaurant and dressed up to the nines business!

mancmummy40 · 28/01/2017 22:02

My ideal valenitines night is a night in, watching a few films. A large glass of baileys over ice and a takeaway. We don't do pressies or cards as quality time spent together is worth so much more.

stefalfie11 · 28/01/2017 22:11

Having time for just us. Cooking a nice meal together and sitting down with popcorn and sweeties for a film and just enjoying the peace and quiet and having a moment together :)

nixnjj · 28/01/2017 22:15

Lone parent an not dated in12 years so VDay normally annoys me but this year refused to be down about it. So,as its half term a trip to the cinema and a meal out with the best man in my life, my son

Sid98 · 28/01/2017 22:15

Takeaway and a movie

oliveoyl72 · 28/01/2017 22:21

My other half to cook something nice (and wash up afterwards!), a bottle of prosecco, tiramisu for afters and an hour long massage whilst watching a good film. A girl can dream - I'll more likely be a football widow.

My DREAM v-day? Leonardo di Caprio turning up at my door with roses and chocolate :P Just kidding! Tradition for my husband is to make a lovely three course meal, and I look forward to it every year

twinklenicci · 28/01/2017 22:25

Id be quite happy with having dinner cooked by hubby , and a couple of hours childfree , where i can go to the loo without a three year old shouting 'i want to watch you wee!!!'
Id even settle for one night without our youngest in bed with us lol

jac22 · 28/01/2017 22:26

We normally get a takeaway or some sort of no prep meal and watch a film. We have never bothered to go out on Valentine's Day, sometimes the weekend nearest, but not the actual day.

purplevamp · 28/01/2017 22:27

Normally we have a takeaway (with the kids), then we watch a movie with lots of drink, then off to bed WinkGrin

lhlee62 · 28/01/2017 23:16

A huge vegetable pizza, a crate of cider and no need to get up early and time to spend with my lovely hubby.

kamaxtra · 29/01/2017 01:26

Scented soy candles, Mozart, a very unhealthy but delicious fresh pasta dinner (seafood, preferably!), chocolate for dessert (and maybe some matcha ice cream too...because why not). Fresh lilies are always nice, so are orchids. Just spending a romantic evening together without distractions or stress :)

ZoSanDesu · 29/01/2017 06:48

Homemade pizza with a spritzer and beer respectively. Or if we've been out for a winter walk, bring on the apple crumble and custard!

EasterRobin · 29/01/2017 07:29

It would have to be food that we don't have any more because toddler DD won't eat it. So maybe mussels/prawn cocktail to start, followed by steak and salad, then something for dessert that is so unhealthy we wouldn't eat it around DD like a chocolate fondue. And then baileys coffee and chocolate mints.

lizd31 · 29/01/2017 09:04

A day of being positively pampered, flowers, chocolates & champagne & home cooked meal (not by me)

SouthWestmom · 29/01/2017 09:39

Dh cooking (very rare but great when he does) veggie curry and Bombay potatoes and rice etc while I drink prosecco and lounge around waiting and earning crunchy crisps. No pudding, don't like sweet stuff so maybe a coffee after?

Ikea1234 · 29/01/2017 09:43

A Valentines Day at home would need military planning, with good food, like a decent steak, something chocolatey for pudding, some fizz, a good movie on DVD, no internet to distract and no children at home to put a spanner in the works ("I don't feel well...." cue vomit)

happysouls · 29/01/2017 10:01

We often have nights that are quite romantic, we cook lovely food together and watch a film, with a bottle of wine! Always candles and fairy lights! This is pretty much my ideal and Valentines wouldn't really be any different!

ell5454 · 29/01/2017 11:55

Just a quiet meal and some alone time! preferably with cake
