Lidl know that some of us prefer spending Valentine’s Day at home to venturing out into packed restaurants with hearts everywhere during a freezing February. Lidl have everything in store for the perfect night in, offering all you need for a French-themed dinner to gifts and bottles of bubbly - and they would love to hear how would you spend your dream V-day at home.

What’s the perfect romantic meal for two? Do you prefer classic red roses or truffle chocolates? What’s your ideal tipple for the night? Do you open gifts while listening to romantic music or is a night on the sofa with a movie more your thing?

Whether you are spending Valentine's day with your significant other, having a ‘Galentines’ (girls only) day, or simply enjoying an evening for one, tell us how you’d spend your dream V-day at home. Everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where 5 winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck,

Children in bed, candle lit fancy dinner and desert, I wouldn't mind what it is as long as it was not cooked by me,

Kmt89 · 03/02/2017 17:20

A quiet night in with my fiance while our daughter is in bed. A nice home cooked meal (partner is a chef!) And because it's valentines day a proper chick flick film with a glass of rosè wine!! Perfection! Grin

Jessiecat27 · 03/02/2017 19:23

Personally I would love a night in with my OH, a nice meal (Italian preferably, we love it!) and a movie night sounds perfect to me! No phones allowed! It'd be nice to just sit and chat (:

IonaAilidh11 · 03/02/2017 20:02

its daughters birthday on valentines so anything other than a kids party would be great

FeelTheNoise · 03/02/2017 20:28

Galentines, I like it! I'll have a cheeseboard with a glass of wine, and I'll toast my freedom 😊

SirNiallDementia · 04/02/2017 09:52

Ideally.........A lovely meal when the kids are in bed like steak or lamb with champagne and chocolate.

In reality...... DH will be working 200 miles away onValentines day so it'll be me in my PJs with a bowl of cereal and the cat in my bed!

DaphneDeLaFontaine · 04/02/2017 09:59

Seafood platter with chunky chips and mayo to eat, with a decent movie box of truffle chocolates for pudding.

Sounds perfect to me.

MTBMummy · 04/02/2017 18:48

Dream Valentines dinner would have to be...

Kids in bed on time.
Some lovely well cooked (blue for me, rare for DP) steak with chunky homemade triple cooked chips, and a large G&T.
Followed by some telly and salted dark chocolate.

We're not huge pudding people, but may make a bacon and brie pastry for starters

onedayatatime73 · 04/02/2017 20:44

Go out for "tea in the evening" as the children call it. Then get them to bed early and coon a great steak with broccoli; and a decent bottle of wine. Then a film and an 'early night'.

nonnyno · 05/02/2017 12:26

Breakfast in bed, followed by a nice long walk, then a light lunch followed by an afternoon on the sofa watching a good film. After that a nice evening meal - starter, nice steak, a good wine and a lavish dessert!

Titsalinabumsquash · 05/02/2017 21:22

We've had some interesting Valentines days, one of us is always ill or there something happening making us not want to celebrate, this year (and most actually) DS1 will be in hospital, one year I had a mc so we spent the day sat on the sofa playing old video games and eating a billion boxes of chocolates in our pjs.
This will be the first Valentine's Day that we're married and although it can't happen I shal, pretend and say my ideal eve would be something fizzy, a good film, tortilla chips and dip followed by a his two pizza and something chocolate based. I'm classy as anything me. Grin

BurntAroundTheEdges · 06/02/2017 10:59

It's just 'another day' to my OH which I kind of agree with anyway. This year will be the same as any other V day we have had, a good film and a take away no doubt. No alcohol this time though as I'm pregnant but I have been promised a foot massage so not all bad (as long as the foot massage actually materialises Hmm )

My dream Valentine's Day date at home would mean my little boy (10 months old) being babysat at grandma's.

The house would be clean and tidy and the table set perfectly with our best dinnerware for a 3 course meal. A new candle would be burning in the centre of the table. The starter would be bruschetta, main course steak with a garlic butter sauce with some potatoes and green vegetables and a chocolate larva cake for dessert. A nice prosseco would of course need to be pre chilled!

I would then spend the rest of the evening watching a romantic classic film with some choccie and more prosecco and end the evening with a candle lit bubble bath for two.

Sadly, my husband's ideal valentines night is to sit in and watch football have me cook whatever dinner I like and look after my little boy Grin he doesn't believe in Valentine's Day would you believe it!! Luckily he makes a really nice effort for my birthdays Flowers

A girl can still dream!

whitbyranger · 07/02/2017 16:53

A takeaway, bottle of red and Netflix!

Rigbyroo · 07/02/2017 21:36

Kids to bed early, no school work, no phones and watching a decent film with a gin and tonic.

Andbabymakesthree · 08/02/2017 04:37

A perfect valentine's day would be having a cleaner and declutterer come the week before to make the house perfect. I'd love a babysitter so we could go out for a curry or somewhere overlooking the coast.

Realistically it'll be more washing and folding puked on clothes, partner sorting kids and us taking it in turns to eat a supermarket curry whilst other rocks baby!

claza93 · 08/02/2017 21:04

Takeaway, bottle of prosecco and a rom com!

peanutmum111 · 09/02/2017 00:07

I would love the prawns, steak and fruit with cheese,
Relaxing music, a good film .............
but most of all I would like to eat it in my house which has been cleaned and tidied. Then I would like a box of fairy dust to sprinkle in my house to keep everywhere clean, washing and ironing done, with a personal chef, so I can enjoy the children

angiehoggett · 09/02/2017 10:00

a 3 course candlelit meal a movie and wine

glad25 · 09/02/2017 21:46

it just needs the right person, anything is wonderful if you have that

AmeliaMumsnet · 10/02/2017 11:07

rainbow1976 · 11/02/2017 12:27

a lovely cooked meal (not by me!), a good film and an early night

greig23 · 11/02/2017 14:01

Mine would be a home cooked steak and chips followed by chocolate fudge cake and ice cream.

then to watch a film with my loved one on the sofa

simple

FoodstuffFinds · 11/02/2017 20:25

Getting a take away curry to share, and afterwards a good movie while sharing a box of Belgian chocs. :-) If he brings flowers too, that's a bonus. Flowers
