Lidl know that some of us prefer spending Valentine’s Day at home to venturing out into packed restaurants with hearts everywhere during a freezing February. Lidl have everything in store for the perfect night in, offering all you need for a French-themed dinner to gifts and bottles of bubbly - and they would love to hear how would you spend your dream V-day at home.

What’s the perfect romantic meal for two? Do you prefer classic red roses or truffle chocolates? What’s your ideal tipple for the night? Do you open gifts while listening to romantic music or is a night on the sofa with a movie more your thing?

Whether you are spending Valentine's day with your significant other, having a ‘Galentines’ (girls only) day, or simply enjoying an evening for one, tell us how you’d spend your dream V-day at home. Everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where 5 winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

for food you need something you can just chuck in the oven, that's why the meal deals are so great for nights like this. three courses and wine for £15-£20, bargain

LiveLifeWithPassion · 01/02/2017 13:47

A nice simple meal with candles and music then a film later.

goldenretriever1978 · 01/02/2017 15:56

I would love a child free night with a good film on and a takeaway.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 01/02/2017 16:04

I'm lucky, my husband has always brought me flowers which I love and I get him a gift. We normally do a meal at home, something we both love or something we can share, like chocolate fondu. It's nice just to make some proper time together with our favourite, more indulgent food!

mummydoc123 · 01/02/2017 17:53

Candles, steak, chocolate desert, fizz and the kids at their grandparents!

KnottedAnchorChief · 01/02/2017 19:01

Bottle of fizz. Lots and lots of nibbles rather than a big meal, so may choice would be some lovely seafood with maybe crab, prawns etc. More fizz. Then record player on loud and some dancing in the living room with DH. And more fizz.

HerRoyalFattyness · 01/02/2017 19:18

I'd love a night without the kids, a nice meal cooked for me, some flowers and a good film. I'm very easily pleased.

That won't happen because I'm single. So the reality will be a takeaway when the kids are in bed while I watch some random crap on TV Grin

We have our traditional carpet picnic.

Centred round smoked salmon on rye bread we may also have a baked camembert and then crudités with lots of nice dips.

Fizz obligatory of course.

mellyjt · 01/02/2017 21:58

My Dream V day would be a bottle of champagne box of chocolates and a movie with Tom Hardy in it

like7 · 02/02/2017 00:07

Lots of treats. Nice food, wine, chocolates, good film on telly. Relax and do no housework!

calzone · 02/02/2017 07:43

Lidl is our go to supermarket. We absolutely love Lidl.

Not one thing have we ever bought that we have not been impressed with.

Dh would cook our romantic Valentine's dinner as he is a chef and a better cook than me!!

We would start with a cheese soufflé with poached pears followed by a seafood risotto and garlic bread or one of the amazing savoury cheese breads from the Lidl bakery.
For dessert, we would have an Apple Tarte Tatin with double cream and a bottle of a Lidl award winning red wine.

Lidl stocks everything I would need for this meal. Love Lidl!!❤️❤️❤️

Dinner, wine, music, husband. What more could I want?

((Maybe someone to come and wash up??)) 😂😂

If I'm honest, we have never really fallen for the whole valentines thing. we have been together 14 years and neither of us have ever placed any importance in it. Last year we got a KFC bucket to mark the occasion... heaven! LOL x

welshmardymum · 02/02/2017 17:20

A meal at home after the children have gone to bed so we can actually have a conversation that lasts longer than 5 seconds! Some nice wine and something home made that doesn't take ages so we can chat while we cook but not die of starvation!

ha2el · 02/02/2017 17:31

Foot massage for as long as I choose. Then a takeaway and prosecco with our 'favourite tracks combo' playing in the background. Chat and laughter, enjoying each others company.

CopperKettle11 · 02/02/2017 18:45

This year it is my first Valentine's Day as a single parent. I would love to come home from work and treat my 2 kids to their favourite meal (pizza and garlic bread) and snuggle up and watch a movie whilst enjoying a glass of prosecco (for me!), chocolate and popcorn. And just treasure my time with them.

Hopezibah · 02/02/2017 21:00

Even before we had kids and didn't have the struggle of finding a babysitter, we always still enjoyed having valentine's day at home. We'd buy a special meal that was easy to cook but more special than normal and a nice dessert and wine and it was always really pleasant rather than the stress of having to book somewhere to eat out.

mata777 · 02/02/2017 21:31

Takeaway would be the easier option, then we don't have to cook and can concentrate on each other. I would love a big box of chocolates (seashells maybe) and a bottle of rose wine. We could put some candles on the table and a quiet music in the background ...and chat to each other.

hareagain · 02/02/2017 22:41

Early night on my own with an array of chocolates spread out all around me. No apologies.

RubyWinterstorm · 02/02/2017 22:45

Mine would be to be taken out for dinner.... anywhere

Reality: at home with somenoce food I did not blimming well have to cook myself! So a selection of nice cold dishes or stuff you can just heat up: prawn mayo/salmon/salad for starters and mussels in white wine that you can just heat up.... with garlic bread Grin

And white wine

And maybe some baileys. Or a cocktail!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 03/02/2017 00:16

DH is actually a rather good cook so could make us something lovely, but I wouldn't let him spend all night in the kitchen and it would already be late by the time the kids are in bed (I'm assuming they are at home, or we'd be out somewhere instead!) so it would be something quick to cook - he has a very nice recipe with seafood and chorizo that only takes minutes, and maybe something like steak afterwards. Plus the sort of dessert we don't normally allow ourselves (no counting calories on special occasions), a good bottle of wine and maybe a film afterwards!

Emrob86 · 03/02/2017 10:34

For me it's all about lots of bubbly, a nice cheese boards and lots of fancy chocolates!

littleme96 · 03/02/2017 10:40

Once the kids were in bed, my Husband would cook dinner for us both (and would do the washing up as he went along - this is very unrealistic!). We would probably eat something Italian with a chocolate dessert to share over candlelight. Then we'd watch a film and have a shared bath with some amazing bath oil.

Flowers and chocolate are always appreciated! I would be more than happy with red roses or any flowers really - I'm not fussy! Flowers

WolfiesDad · 03/02/2017 10:41

Making Valentines day special is all about making my wife and daughter feel special.
From morning surprises through to a tasty dinner, a bit of extra attention helps make sure this happens.

Late waking, breakfast in bed consisting of salmon and bagels, bath time without company, a long country walk and talk, leisurely lazy lunch of beef bourguignon with plenty of red wine in both the sauce and on the table, pyjamas, light dinner of fresh steamed vegetables and fish, cheeseboard, more wine, film under a blanket with a roaring log fire, chocolates and tea. Bed.

In reality, I will probably forget the day until DD and DS remind me!

Chathampocket · 03/02/2017 16:09

I would love for the woodburner to be on, a takeaway to be delivered and peace and quiet from the children!
