The New Year brings about thoughts of new beginnings, and Arla Big Milk would love to know what your intentions are for a fresh start for your family, to help them grow big this January.

What are your plans and aims for the new year? Are you determined to be a better planner of healthier, wholesome meals, to make sure your DC gets enough of the good stuff? Perhaps you’d like your family to practice better sleep hygiene or spend more time together? Maybe you’re looking forward to watching your children grow big and reach milestones like weaning, taking their first steps or learning to read by themselves?

Whatever your aims, share the great ideas you have for a new and fresh start for your family in 2017 with Arla Big Milk below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw.

I'm aiming to get my daughter to have a more balanced diet. I've slipped recently with my own diet and that runs down to her as well. I'm going to start cooking more healthy, homemade meals for the both of us :)

ReadySteadyNo · 09/01/2017 20:07

I want to make more of my time. Spend less time online (whoops) and get out more to live my life in the present.

kittykomp · 09/01/2017 20:07

to be more healthy

headsy12 · 09/01/2017 20:08

to keep up the exercising I have been doing since April 2016 I can see the difference and if I lose about 10 lbs someone else might notice it. My main resolution is to be more outgoing.

mo3733 · 09/01/2017 20:18

i have a fresh start in a new house and i am so excited

Jade5093 · 09/01/2017 20:18

Drinking more water

ninamotylinski · 09/01/2017 20:19

Last year I overcame serious depression that had lasted 20 years. Such a weight lifted! My fresh start this year is for the first time to start the year thinking positively instead of negatively and to continue in this mindset! Relaxing more and worrying less because life is for living not worrying and wasting !

clarem100 · 09/01/2017 20:30

to have a positive outlook this year - no stressing about the small stuff

ahhyespls · 09/01/2017 20:44

2017 is all about me. I have a self care routine in place and I'm socialising more. (And making sure I get at least one shower / bath a week that doesn't involve a child getting in with me, demanding I read to them or wipe there bum in the middle of it! and is longer than 5 mins)

funkyfish586 · 09/01/2017 20:58

i am trying to save for our first holiday abroad and just saving in general. We are trying to do this by no top up shops in the week and to not spend anymore (if possible) than £5 a day which can be rolled over until the weekend. Anything left at the end of the month will go towards the holiday.Day 9 and my car has broken down but we are all still smiling :)

allsorts4444 · 09/01/2017 20:59

This year I am going to drink more water and sort out my finances! I am on a mission to be debt free and to take more trips with the family :)

Roraima · 09/01/2017 21:06

-Maintain good relationship with the neighbours although I despise them
-Lose the chocolate.
-Give the chocolates to the grandkids

selloveday · 09/01/2017 21:17

I'm going to try to eat less sugar and exercise more. Plus hopefully get pregnant!

earnshaw47 · 09/01/2017 21:20

i really must try in the new year to think before i speak

pfcpompeysarah · 09/01/2017 21:43

I have resolved to drink more water and get to bed earlier, which hopefully if skipping the wine before a meal some nights, will also result in a slightly less baggy tum!!

Tillasmuma · 09/01/2017 21:51

My challenge is to wean my almost 2 year old off breast milk for good!

Mum2mischiefs · 09/01/2017 21:57

I've made a solemn vow to spend less time working and more time with DH and our three boys - the past year has been a bit of a whirlwind workwise so this year I want to sit back and smell the roses/football kits/numerous cans of Lynx sprayed (or so it seems)/whatever life throws our way...day 9 and all is well...

RACHELSMITH45 · 09/01/2017 21:58

I'd just like to be more confident in myself. I've had the toughest 2016 and it did make me anxious and quite low but I'd like to think I'm starting this year with more positivity and hope that it will be a happier year all round. I want to make the most of every day with my amazing family!!

emiai · 09/01/2017 21:59

I just want to do something that is not fake, or something i wont stick to.
So this year I am decluttering, saving money and saving as much as I can. I am sick of all the junk we have in the house, it has to go.

mummy23xxx · 09/01/2017 22:00

All meals to be eaten around the dining room table. No exceptions ( apart from snacks like juice or fruit etc).
Family night is Friday night - board games all aorund :D
The kids actually love it, and look forward to it

KittyKat88 · 09/01/2017 22:36

I would like my DDs to learn a new musical instrument this year - I can read and play music so I think it would be fun to create a family band!

cozza777 · 09/01/2017 22:39

I aim to spend more time outdoors with my boys, I feel like we are indoors to much and need to go out and explore more

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/01/2017 22:52

I'm going to move more, do some exercise, make better diet decisions and hopefully end the year a bit more mobile, healthy and flexible.

When I have finished this fondant fancy. Blush

buckley1983 · 09/01/2017 22:55

I've given up Diet Coke - I absolutely love the stuff, but there's not an ounce of goodness in it & I want my teeth to last me! It's tough, but I do feel better for not having it!
We're setting firmer boundaries for LO - having found ourselves dancing to his tune for far too long! He's not liking the change, but I keep telling myself it will get easier & it's the best thing for him.. & for us long-term.
In general - trying to eat less, move more, be kinder.. y'know :)

clareycat · 09/01/2017 22:56

Both me and my DH really need to get back into a healthier eating regime and want to slim down so we have more mobility to run around after our little one and potentially try for our second. The year has gotten off to a great start already with our DD cracking the potty over over xmas and is now wearing big girl knickers all day, whoop.
