The New Year brings about thoughts of new beginnings, and Arla Big Milk would love to know what your intentions are for a fresh start for your family, to help them grow big this January.

What are your plans and aims for the new year? Are you determined to be a better planner of healthier, wholesome meals, to make sure your DC gets enough of the good stuff? Perhaps you’d like your family to practice better sleep hygiene or spend more time together? Maybe you’re looking forward to watching your children grow big and reach milestones like weaning, taking their first steps or learning to read by themselves?

Whatever your aims, share the great ideas you have for a new and fresh start for your family in 2017 with Arla Big Milk below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw.

I'm going to make sure they have a glass of milk every day when they get home from school and make the switch from 50/50 to brown bread!

chrissy53438 · 09/01/2017 16:36

to use up the larder stock and then have more fresh food!

jlwells1986 · 09/01/2017 16:44

This year i am determined to get my kiddies eating a wider variety of food. They are both extremely fussy and its got to the stage that my daughter is now deficient in zinc. Therefore I'm going to be tougher to ensure they eat what i give them and try new foods.

My new years resolution is to get up everyday at 6.30am rather than always snoozing my alarm and rushing my breakfast to dash to work. Each day I fail I have to give my partner £5 😂 stop oversleeping! Amazing giveaway 😍💗

More walking.

Pogolphin · 09/01/2017 17:36

We have a blender to make smoothies and milk shakes with lots of fruit in. Hoping to hide something green in there somewhere!

Chocolateteabag · 09/01/2017 18:00

Plan more varied meals
Shout less at my children (it doesn't work anyway)
Eat less sugar and use it less in bribes for the children too!
Declutter and really think before I buy more stuff!

samcornfield · 09/01/2017 18:08

I will be losing 15kg.

strawberrisc · 09/01/2017 18:26

I've become quite happily reclusive over the last few years but 2016 was a shocking year for some really lovely people passing away. I'm making a fresh start by making time to see friends and family more.

Sid98 · 09/01/2017 18:28

Eating healthy and less takeaways

1969angep · 09/01/2017 18:37

I'm determined to get healthier this year. As a family we need to,eat less sugar (and esp ice cream!!) and up our fruit consumption. The wee man is Lego obsessed to the point that dragging him outside is like pulling teeth. We all need to exercise more so we'll be getting some decent wet weather gear and getting out there!!

Hanhan28 · 09/01/2017 18:47

I am aiming to clear some debt and build my business even more. I also want to take my wee girl on some adventures. I haven't left the UK in 6 years so would like to go abroad this year as well.

julieef · 09/01/2017 18:47

really trying to stop getting too stressed

feefeegabor · 09/01/2017 18:55

I doing Dry January this year - not too much of a problem as I only tend to have a glass of red wine at the weekend. I am also trying to get fitter - not so easy with the cold, wet weather!

Putting myself first

sarah861421 · 09/01/2017 19:05

I was given a pedometer for Christmas ( Thanks MIL ), so far I am doing 10k a day, but not sure how long this will last

IMPULSE737 · 09/01/2017 19:24

My fresh start this year is be have better health and well-being, which is just as well as my husband and I have just discovered we are pregnant again and will be due this summer... exciting times ahead!

nicsal05 · 09/01/2017 19:24

Cut down on family junk food and sugar intake, be more body confident and look after myself more ! Lose weight. Above all I need to STOP worrying about anything and everything !

Rachdayan · 09/01/2017 19:42

I've started the year with a teatox and went back to the gym after a 3 month break. I worked hard to lose 3 stone in 2015/16 and i'm not going to let it come back!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 09/01/2017 19:49

Healthier eating
Move more
More patient / less shouty

ThenBellaDidSomethingVeryKind · 09/01/2017 19:52

For me: increasing gym sessions from 2 to 3 per week. Cutting down on the booze after a v indulgent Xmas. Low-carbing.
For the kids: back to a decent bedtime after lots of late nights. Looking at introducing swimming lessons for the youngest.

arat · 09/01/2017 19:53

For the DCs it's no more giving in and taking the car on the school run (only possibly exception is if it's below -8 degrees or lightning!)
For me it's cutting down on the caffeine intake.

Amaksy · 09/01/2017 19:55

Enriching myself and family in every way - reading more and valuing time together with loved family and friends.

DollyPlastic · 09/01/2017 19:55

We are all going to start the day with a bowl of cereal. Might not seem like much but as a family we often skip breakfast as we are so busy in the mornings, and grab a snack to take with us.

No more!

alsproject · 09/01/2017 20:00

I'm planning to learn to cook new recipes from scratch
