Last Xmas DD was only 12 months old so didn't make much distinction between actual presents and the equally exciting boxes, tins and wrapping paper. She still plays with some of the now empty tins from last Xmas. It made me realise how unnecessary it was to spend lots on presents, when just a few simple things were giving her so much novelty and excitement.

Itmustbemyage · 22/12/2016 13:44

When excited little ones say thank you mum and dad and you get down on the floor with them to join in the playing fun, I think that all the extra work in the run up to Christmas was well worth it.

Ibelieve123 · 22/12/2016 14:50

Relief, joy & a feeling of wanting to freeze time right there & then. Knowing that the hard work, stress & panic is all worth it seeing the happiness on their faces

SendARavenToRiverRun · 22/12/2016 15:08

I love the look on their face as they see a much longed for gift..or the excitement or a surprise.
Lovely Xmas Grin

Maniacalparrot · 22/12/2016 19:01

Love it when they open a presents and stop and play with the toy, rather than just put it down and turn to the next toy- it means I have hit the nail on the head and got the right toy

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/12/2016 19:50

I get rather jealous that she got to the PlayStation first Xmas Wink

BenLinusatemyhomework · 22/12/2016 20:06

I love it when you manage to hit exactly the right note and you get them something that totally engrosses them. Last year it was a single action figure for my six year old, he exclaimed "I love it!" And we didn't hear another peep from him all day.

Appreciation and relief

user1482441484 · 22/12/2016 21:46

I love to see my boys faces light up it brings tears to my eyes

Ladybirdtinselturd · 22/12/2016 22:23

I feel a huge rush of contentment and relief. I have such a huge build up to the day and worry about the little details, that on christmas eve the dreaded panic will set in that maybe i have got it wrong.
However they honestly seem happy and appreciative to have something to open and a whole day of both me and my husband playing with them.

xenoyia6060 · 22/12/2016 22:43

I love the feeling i get. Hard to explain. Warmth, satisfaction, love, happiness and contentment.

buckley1983 · 22/12/2016 23:21

I love every aspect of the gift choosing, wrapping & watching LO's face as he unwraps each gift! There are things I see which I just know he will love & it gives me so much pleasure to see him enjoy them :)
I try not to go overboard - fortunately he's still at the age (3) where he is in raptures over a toy car, or a box of second hand trains - so I take advantage of this & do a lot of scouring in charity shops, jumble sales & on Ebay - you get a lot more for your money & his enjoyment of the gift isn't blighted in the list by the fact it is second hand.
It's all a really magical time & I want to soak up every moment just as he does! :)

shroney · 23/12/2016 13:33

I love seeing the surprise on their faces and squeals of delight, my two have to open each present at the same time and it makes me happy to see them so happy.

farmergirl29 · 23/12/2016 13:59

This is my daughters second christmas and last year she was under 1 and too young to understand really. We still loved watching her try to open (and eat) her presents though and it was lovely to just be a family together. This year I am really looking forward to see how excited she is, she is already very excited by all the presents that are arriving when friends and family visit.

iwasyoungonce · 23/12/2016 15:03

I get a mixture of joy at their happiness, and guilt at how much I've spent, and how there are people in the world aho have nothing whilst we have piles and piles of stuff.

SixtyDegreesNorth · 23/12/2016 15:12

Relief that the frantic preparation is over, and knowing there is nothing else I can do about it.

mo3733 · 23/12/2016 16:39

proud feelings because to see them share shows me what amazing human beings they truly are

kayleighp85 · 23/12/2016 20:51

I get so excited waiting as my 5 kids unwrap their presents, waiting for the smile from ear to ear and the screaming getting louder and louder and jumping about with each present they open (we hide the most wanted or expensive at the bottom of the pile to make them wait to discover if they had been good enough to receive it) The feelings of "doing them proud" with what we have managed to buy. It's a lovely feeling inside, it makes you feel warm and happy and at that moment the best parent in the world

But Then

It also makes you feel deflated when they open what you thought was a gift they'd love - that you spent hours searching for, queuing for or paid a lot for and look at it with boredom and toss it across the floor to their opened pile as if they don't really want it or care what it is as they open another as fast as they can looking for the one they really want. I tend to spend the last few days panicking they don't have enough but then on xmas morning I think oh god why oh why have I bought all those little bits and bobs like light up pens or a set of football shaped rubbers !!! that will be stood on, left forgotten by boxing day or don't get played/used at all. Oh and there's also the tedious job of undoing the metal twister tags to get the toy out the box you have to spend ages doing, with each toy having about 10 !! Angry

It's a lot of mixed feelings but one things for sure with 5 kids I hate trying to find somewhere to put it all, so my livingroom can't be used for 2 weeks after xmas as its all piled up against each wall and also the amount of paper, boxes and rubbish I have cram in my bins and the rest try to get rid of somehow on Boxing day !!

Sarah170185 · 23/12/2016 21:38

my boys fill me with excitement and joy when i see them playing with their new toys, also makes me feel proud of them to see them shairing and working together, seeing their imaginations working also gives me hope and peace of mind for the future they will have

FeelingSmurfy · 24/12/2016 07:28

Joy at seeing their excitement
Proud that I managed to pull it all together
That it's all been worth it

Mostly, LOVE

littledinaco · 24/12/2016 08:43

Love watching them play. Always make sure we stay at home for Christmas so they have the day to play with all the new toys.

NettleTea · 24/12/2016 16:05

I love opening the gifts with the children, and watching them play with their own and invariably, each others, toys - forgetting about gadgets and XBoxes for a while!!

123julie321 · 25/12/2016 00:13

It fills me with so much delight and happiness to see them excited with their gifts! Sometimes I am a bit nervous beforehand that they will appreciate their gifts and so I feel relief when they're grateful.

foxymama1983 · 25/12/2016 04:10

I feel love and joy.Its magical too see there excited faces.

redbook · 25/12/2016 21:14

Slightly sad that they have everything they could ever want for when so many have nothing.
