The excitment of ripping open the paper to see what lies beneath I dont go over board But i do like to treat them if i can I love there faces and the whole magical experience

happysouls · 20/12/2016 19:42

ahhh its just lovely, the chaos, the wrapping paper flying everywhere, the tantrums, the over excited madness! haha!

PorridgeAgainAbney · 20/12/2016 20:02

Our son is just 'getting' Christmas this year so it will be interesting to see how he reacts to his presents because in previous years it's been more about ripping everything open and playing with the wrapping. Grin

I can't wait until he sees what he's got this year. There's nothing big or expensive but there are lots of things that he is really into at the moment so it will be great to see him be excited when he opens everything.

Maclairey · 20/12/2016 21:36

I love seeing them get excited and play with their new toys but they are still very young so the novelty tends to wear off quite quickly with new toys. DH thinks they get too much and he is probably right but I love spoiling them and we save all year for Christmas so I dont have a problem with it. I am hoping that this year my eldest at nearly 4 will be a bit more into it then he was last year. My youngest at 19 months will probably just enjoy the boxes that his toys come in.

jandoc · 20/12/2016 22:27

it's such a magical feeling

Cailin7 · 20/12/2016 22:34

Happy, excited, we want to play with most of them too

starlight36 · 20/12/2016 22:54

I love seeing how happy they are when they unwrap the most-wanted toys. Their faces really light up as they get to actually play with something they've wanted to own for what to them seems a long time!
I also love the unexpected element of the toys friends and relatives but them which are more of a surprise, especially if they need to figure out what exactly they have been given.

SillyMoomin · 21/12/2016 08:04

Pride, that DH and I have created this little human who can play with things; nostalgia for christmasses past when I was his age and couldn't wait to play; and mild jealousy that his present looks really fun and I've just got a boring handbag Grin

Muppetslikecoco · 21/12/2016 14:05

Last year was DS first Christmas and this year I think he will 'get it' a lot more.

I am so excited to see his face when he opens his presents. I'm already filled with joy knowing he's going to be so happy.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 21/12/2016 14:12

I can't wait for our DD to open her Stikbots Studio. She loves making stop motion films and this should help her do it all herself. Her face will be a picture.

We don't buy too much and I try to get things that the children will love and use. We also like to make memories as a family so sometimes the feel good moment happens later when we're playing the game or doing colouring or a jigsaw together.

ann28 · 21/12/2016 14:14

Joy and relief that they like it! Blissful peace and quiet!

mdanie89 · 21/12/2016 14:42

I hate the excess. With twins, we give gifts that both can use. People think we need two of everything and they have such generous hearts. It's gotten to the point we save xmas/bday presents in closet and then rewrap them for the next giftable occassion. Girls are still so young they don't even remember they'd already unwrapped that gift.

Blizy · 21/12/2016 15:28

I have feelings of joy watching my sons little mind blown face. I also feel pangs of sadness that his sister should be here too.

StickChildNumberTwo · 21/12/2016 16:16

I'm mostly relieved when I get it right and choose things they love!

DramaInPyjamas · 21/12/2016 16:17

That first look when they open the door at silly o'clock and see all the gifts wrapped and waiting- it's a feeling I remember when I was younger.
Seeing them opening a sought after gift and the big grin immediately spreads over their faces.

We don't buy toys throughout the year and we don't go overboard with treats as I can't afford to, so watching them on Christmas Day really is something special.

ha2el · 21/12/2016 16:38

Relief that they are happy with what I have bought them mainly. It's a very stressful time. I am particularly aware of the quantity and amount spent by some other parents and try not to compete.

thekiwibex · 21/12/2016 16:50

Our wee one is still young, but I love seeing her face light up when a gift fascinates or entertains her.

CathBookworm · 21/12/2016 17:56

Usually a mixture of relief that I don't have to worry about wrapping anything else, and happiness that my boys are enjoying their new toys.

Hullygully · 21/12/2016 20:13

Horribly sad that life and joy are so fleeting and ephemeral. It makes me reach for the rhino ket.

SmileyShazza · 21/12/2016 21:43

I enjoy seeing them open their presents but I find they get so many things that it is hard for them to spend a decent amount of time playing with each item and it does have a tendency to turn into a conveyor belt of opening a present, being desperate to get it out of the box (which can take age sometimes due to all the security tags etc), playing with it for about 3 minutes then moving on to the next one.

I also spent most of Christmas Day worrying that the brand new things they have just received will get broken when they get over excited with them and are banging and bashing them around as they are still young and don't really understand the concept of being careful.

The real magic is in the following few days when they start showing which items they received are their favourites because they keep going back to them constantly and wanting to play with them all the time. I usually find that it's the thing I thought they would like the least that they actually love the most.

Pigeonpea · 21/12/2016 22:01

Elation!
I love seeing her look of wonderment and her graciousness (even when I know she is thinking - errrrrr?????)
I also love playing with her and her new toys!

LittleMoonbuggy · 21/12/2016 22:13

Of course I do enjoy watching them play with their new toys, but find that the usual cliche of the packaging boxes often being more appealing and played with first applies, which makes me wonder why I bothered!

Still, we don't go overboard with presents anyway.

Mindfulofmuddle · 21/12/2016 22:24

It's hard to beat the excitement of Christmas morning with young children - their joy is infectious! Even though I'm generally feeling pretty tired and wishing I could have a bit longer in bed, it isn't long before I'm feeling their excitement with them and looking forward to sharing a lovely day with my family (with nowhere else to be and no rushing around!).

Pillowaddict · 22/12/2016 00:02

Watching dd opening her gifts I get the same feeling I get when I make her a meal she enjoys. Total satisfaction and a feeling of contentedness in her happiness, and that I've had some part in making her Christmas special like my parents did for me.

oliversax · 22/12/2016 06:35

This is the first year DD gets the anticipation of Christmas. I'm looking forward to seeing her face on Sunday morning when she realises santa has been. The pure innocent bliss will make me feel happy.
