i feel so happy seeing them getting things they like and it makes me feel proud cause ive saved super hard to get them the new toys

JazzAnnNonMouse · 19/12/2016 15:53

I feel like I've won when they like a present.

towser44 · 19/12/2016 16:12

How long will it take before she gets bored with it for it to never be seen again!

IonaAilidh11 · 19/12/2016 17:33

love the look on their faces when they see what santa has brought, priceless

strawberrisc · 19/12/2016 19:16

I adore watching my daughter, my niece and my nephew opening their gifts with such joy! On the one hand, watching them enjoying their new presents makes me feel happy because they are happy. On the other hand (and this is purely selfish) it takes me back to how I felt at their age which is a magical feeling!

FoofFighter · 19/12/2016 19:16

I'll be honest, if it's a board game then my thoughts are usually, don't ask me to play!

Maturebow · 19/12/2016 19:18

Great happiness because the joy it brings them. I know how happy it can make them and along with the festive spirit.

Sharing joy is one of the most amazing feelings. I feel I get as exited as them and I think that's what Christmas is all about, making others smile, laugh and sharing joy.
Can't wait for this year's.

excitement and pride and satisfaction

sarahbrokenshire · 19/12/2016 20:42

complete and total happiness inside :)

This will be our son's first Christmas; however I have had a sneak preview of what Christmas will be like with a baby, as my NCT group did a Secret Santa party for the little ones last week, and I copied this idea at home just a few days ago with a different set of friends and their children. I can't put into words the sheer joy, wonder, excitement and unconditional love I felt watching my eight month old unwrap his presents and smile. He may not be old enough to understand what Christmas is about, but his smile just melted my heart.

mave · 19/12/2016 21:55

I love seeing their faces, it makes my heart melt!

rhinosuze · 19/12/2016 23:00

I love the excitement on her face now she understands it, and I find the idea that she really thinks santa brought the toys magical, takes me back to being young. How much better the world might be if we all had the innocent believing joy I see in my daughter on Xmas morning

jtl1131 · 19/12/2016 23:09

Complete joy! No nicer sight than a happy child!
Maybe a little annoyed that the big imaginary man in red gets all the credit for mummys great ideas and wrapping - but their happy little faces outweigh that!

Hopezibah · 19/12/2016 23:09

usually a sigh of relief from me to get a few minutes peace and quiet whilst they are absorbed in their new toys!

raspberryblush23 · 20/12/2016 00:00

It makes me happy when my son is happy with his presents. I love it when he tears off the wrapping paper and goes wow! He's never disappointed apart from when it's clothes. I'm looking forward to 15 month DD opening her presents this year, I'm intrigued to see how she reacts to her presents.

cwalliss82 · 20/12/2016 05:23

I wasn't aware that, as a mum, I was allowed to sit down and relax and enjoy watching the kids play with their new toys at Christmas. I am always in the kitchen as my family require a constant conveyor belt of food and drinks.

Pmliu · 20/12/2016 12:31

I feel happy excited and happy for them, almost just as excited as them receiving their presents

Cagliostro · 20/12/2016 12:46

I love the feeling of watching them (DD 9, DS 7) marvel over something they'd never asked for or in many cases never even knew existed. We don't really do lists or letters to Santa as he brings surprises.

This year for the first time DD knows a couple of her presents (a voucher for build a bear, as she's been desperate for one for years, and a new outfit for gymnastics although she doesn't know what one) - but those are from family (who prefer to give money that I spend/save on their behalf IYSWIM). Generally both DCs are really happy not knowing what they will wake up to.

It's partly selfish TBH. I LOVE choosing presents and choosing the right thing is exhilarating. I hate waste and so from an environmental and financial point of view I'd rather get presents that I KNOW they will love and get lots of use from, rather than something they've seen on an advert but might be a flash in the pan for them.

I feel happy that they are very much themselves and aren't bothered by peer pressure and 'the in thing' (not that I'm expecting this to last forever!) - for example none of DD's friends like dinosaurs anymore but she has become fascinated by them this year wants to be a paleontologist - so a lot of her presents this year are dinosaur related. DD is very anxious (probably ASD) and I do really worry about her emotionally - but seeing her rejoice in her geekiness as she opens her presents reminds me that she's doing ok. :)

This year I'm really looking forward to them opening the craft stuff and board games because for the first time in a while it'll just be us four on Christmas day, and so I've got lots of things to do as a family.

Firewall · 20/12/2016 13:37

I love the joy they have and we enjoy joining in... Partly because we buy toys we would have loved ourselves!!

CopperPan · 20/12/2016 14:00

I love watching them open presents and play, there's so much anticipation and stress towards the big day but when they're happy with their gifts it makes it all worth it! And usually gives me a break at last as they get absorbed in their new toys.

phillie1 · 20/12/2016 14:06

Did that really cost that much!

21Catherine21 · 20/12/2016 14:41

I get enormous satisfaction when the main present goes down as a big hit, although I chuckle the most when its the box they are more interested in :)
But if I know they are still going to be playing with the present in a few months that's the best feeling of all :)

badgermum · 20/12/2016 15:44

I love it takes me back to christmas mornings when I was a child and being lucky enough to recieve the present from Father Christmas that I really really wanted, and a few others too.

MiddleClassProblem · 20/12/2016 16:57

DD will be 2 this Christmas, last Christmas at one it was lovely but I was mainly the one opening the presents "with" her as she didn't know what to do and having a birthday with in a few days of it, she doesn't get to practice at another point in the year. This year she has already had some gifts from family who won't see her on the day and it's been brilliant to see her get excited and open them. I feel the excitement of being a kid opening gifts myself and am loving helping create this magical Christmas feeling for her too.
A gift bag of small birthday presents has been dropped off today and are sitting in the hall ready to take with us on holiday to fam tomorrow and she keeps peering in with a cheeky grin. She even brought over a catalogue that came through the door in a wrapper saying "present? Book present" for me to open earlier. I'm not sure how she will wait a whole year to do it again! I might just wrap stuff up around the house in the summer...

MAT12 · 20/12/2016 17:20

happiness, contentment and just feeling lucky
