Strawberries are a staple part of a good British summer, and Lidl’s new advert (watch below) shows the journey Lidl’s Scottish strawberries take from farm to table.

At Lidl, we love our fresh British produce, and strawberries are no different. All Lidl strawberries are hand-picked and checked for prime ripeness, and the pickers aim to have them on Lidl shelves within just 48-hours for your freshness.

So with strawberries the hero of summer, Lidl want to hear about your favourite strawberry dishes, drinks and hacks. We’re searching for little twists to the classic strawberries and cream, right through to the biggest summer showstoppers. Perhaps your strawberry speciality is a refreshing drink, adding them to a salad for a picnic twist, or you have a fool-proof tip for hulling. Whatever your tip or recipe is, Lidl want to hear how you use and celebrate, the staple of summer.

Add your ideas and recipes below and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win one of five £50 Lidl vouchers. Any photos are very, very welcome – and of course, we’d love to hear what your little food critics think too!

Thanks and good luck.

Frozen strawberry daiquiri. .....what else?!!! Just need strawberries, ice, rum, lime juice, a straw and a pint glass!

FPATEL · 26/07/2016 13:45

Strawberries, watermelon and mint smoothie.

Strawberries and double cream with a sprinkle of sugar.

If you fancy an easy summer dessert for grown-ups, halve about 350g of strawberries, add 150g of blackberries, scatter a few fresh mint leaves and pour 100ml of Pimm's + juice of half a lime over the berries. Let them infuse for a few hours, stirring occasionally. Scatter a few lavender flowers before serving (optional)

Strawberries with Cornish ice cream - simple but lovely.

Ds aged 2 has strawberries on his weetabix for breakfast, along with grapes and raisins. He also likes them on Greek yoghurt with nuts, linseed sprinkles and raisins.

Make a lovely smoothie with a whole banana and a handful of fresh strawberries, sweet, delicious and good for you!

Hard to choose....I love a simple strawberries and cream, or crushed with meringue in an Eton Mess or in a strawberry daiquiri.

sweir1 · 26/07/2016 22:11

i love home made strawberry daqiri

I lightly coat strawberries with sugar and let them soften while I make a buttery shortbread base and whip up some cream with icing sugar and vanilla pod. I assemble the shortcake by layreing the softened strawberries over the base topping with the thick whipped cream and decorate with chocolate curls and chocolate dipped strawberries!

My favourite it an Eton mess but add a dash of strawberry jam to the cream to make it extra fruity for a treat.

Homemade strawberry ice cream is to die for in summer
Blitz up strawberries in blender add sugar and double cream & a dash of milk, pour into ice cream maker and churn - gorgeous taste of summer

Strawberries dipped in melted chocolate is a popular party item for my dc.
Just get a strawberry, dip it half in, leave to cool.

Strawberries are amazing in a crumble! On their own or with apple or peaches or rhubarb! The possibilities are endless! I just use a regular crumble topping
200g plain flour
200g oats
200g unsalted butter
150g brown sugar
As many strawberries as you can fit in the bowl! (If using rhubarb with the strawberries I normally add about 50g sugar)

Strawberries as they come from the punnet with a sprinkling of sugar - yum!!!

And this cake recipe is one I love making: www.myrecipes.com/m/recipe/strawberry-dream-cake

A squeeze of lemon, sprinkle of sugar and chopped sprig of mint all stirred in with chopped strawberries. Leave out the fridge for half an hour and eat alone or with thick, clotted cream. Yum!

clopper · 28/07/2016 21:36

I made these grinch snacks and added little faces with food writing icing. The kids loved them

Blend them with some cream, add to ice cream and top with some crushed nuts - delightful

emmafifema78 · 03/08/2016 21:09

Strawberry and banana flan!
Layer sliced strawberries and bananas over a flan base and then cover with strawberry flavoured gelatine and set in the fridge - serve with pouring cream or clotted cream!

I also love making strawberry slush drinks in my blender:
a handful or strawberries
a handful of ice-cubes
a good squeeze of lemon juice
a good glug of apple juice
......blitz in the blender or smoothie maker and serve!
Soooo good on a hot day!
